00:00Hi there, it's John Blow from the Yorkshire Post. Here's what's coming up in the week ahead.
00:04So Astronomical Spring begins on Thursday and with the season's change comes a number of events around Yorkshire.
00:11This includes the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Steam Gala from Thursday to Sunday,
00:15while steam locomotive Sir Nigel Grassley will be at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Saturday.
00:21The Rydale Festival Spring event is also taking place over two weekends, the one coming up and the last of the month,
00:28and the Festival of Words Springfest in the East Riding, which started last week, continues through to Saturday,
00:34celebrating poetry, literature and the spoken word.
00:38Elsewhere, more than 200 hair and beauty business owners and employees intend to gather to demand what they call tax reform for the struggling sector.
00:47Under the banner Save Our Salons, the British Hair Consortium will urge Chancellor Rachel Reeves to cut VAT and labour costs from 20% to 10% in the spring forecast.
00:57Protesters will head to Parliament Square in London today, wearing black cutting gowns or uniforms,
01:02with many sitting in fold-up chairs receiving hair and beauty treatments.
01:06And the Liberal Democrats will flock to Harrogate International Centre for their Spring Conference between Friday and Sunday.
