00:00Well, the Twin Cities is missing a big snow to the southeast blizzard conditions
00:03across southern Minnesota, and then temperatures are gonna be cooler the
00:06next couple days, but we are watching the potential for more snow and rain here
00:09Sunday.
00:20So the center of the system across eastern Nebraska, moving up through
00:24northern Missouri and Iowa and the Twin Cities just north of the edge of really
00:29any of this precipitation. Started out with some thunderstorms lifting out of
00:31Iowa, becoming some thundersnow here across portions of far southern
00:35Minnesota. Blizzard warnings from Fairmont through Albert Lee, Rochester
00:39because you're gonna see heavy snow, but also some pretty intense wind gusts
00:43later today that we'll talk about here a second. We'll all get a little bit of
00:46the wind, but here's what some of the traffic cameras look like earlier this
00:49morning. This is almost certainly a lot whiter looking by the time many of you
00:54are looking at this. It's gonna be a quick bout of snow just really during
00:58the day today or midday through the afternoon hours again, starting as a
01:02mix, but quickly transitioning over from west to east. And by eight o'clock this
01:06evening, it's pretty much done and out of here. Just the southeastern corner
01:09of the state might have a little leftover snow showers, and skies will
01:13clear out pretty quickly here in the overnight hours. But narrow but potent
01:16swath of heavy snow. Everything that's in pink here, those air 6 to 12 inch
01:22snowfall totals. 12 might be on the high end, but there's gonna be a lot of
01:25places coming in at over a half foot there. And sustained wind speeds, 15 to
01:2930 miles an hour. We're already seeing that across southern Minnesota,
01:32including the Twin Cities. Pretty windy and dreary here with some sunshine to
01:36the north. But southern Minnesota, even if you're not getting the snow, we are
01:39getting the wind. Wind gusts though highest right along I-90 here with 50
01:44to 60 mile per hour wind gusts possible through the day today. So that's why
01:48there's that blizzard warning there across the southern part of the state.
01:51Warmest temperatures are gonna be in between where the air is coldest to the
01:54north and where the snow is falling to the south. So temperature is probably
01:57low to mid forties this afternoon in the Twin Cities. And a colder overnight
02:00tonight. Twenties and teens to the northeast, but also wherever we get that
02:05fresh snow, that's where we're gonna see probably some colder readings
02:07overnight tonight and tomorrow too. You can see the difference in temperatures.
02:10Thirties across southeastern Minnesota, forties close to 50 in the Twin Cities
02:14and into the fifties in western Minnesota. I think Friday we will see
02:17low to mid fifties here across the Twin Cities and south central Minnesota
02:21places that don't get the snow in fact. And it's been a very warm March so far
02:26in the last seven days. No exception. Well above normal temperatures for the
02:30entire eastern two thirds of the country. But the next seven days, finally
02:34a little bit of a correction, not below normal, but closer to normal. Northern
02:38Minnesota and pockets of Wisconsin below normal slightly with warmer than normal
02:42conditions to the west. But on the whole, on balance, Minnesota will see
02:46pretty normal temperatures finally the next seven days, which means mostly
02:49forties to near 50 for us in southern Minnesota here into next week. But we
02:53are watching another system sunday. It's gonna deliver rain and snow. Timing
02:57will be crucial with this thing. If it comes more during the day, it's probably
03:01gonna be more rain for us in southern Minnesota versus snow. But if it comes
03:05earlier in the overnight saturday night could be some snow. But this is what
03:08looks like all the different model scenarios and you can generally see the
03:12bulk of any significant snow just to our north. But that could change. It's
03:16still several days away. And when we look at sort of the weighted average of
03:19the models, it does focus in on the north shore, northeastern Minnesota for
03:23potential for several or more inches. Then as we go further south, probably
03:26can bank on an inch or two. But again, it's all gonna depend upon timing. And
03:31if that track shifts both in terms of distance, but also the timing of when
03:35that rain and snow moves into the area 43 today, that is actually pretty close
03:41to normal, but it feels chilly compared to where we've been. Upper forties
03:44tomorrow should see bright sunshine again. And that means in southern
03:48Minnesota, where you get that fresh snow, it will be melting already the
03:50next couple of days, 53 friday and the twin cities a weekend, a little cooler,
03:54but right near normal mid forties sunshine saturday. But again, looking
03:58at rain and snow showers, probably sunday with those temperatures again
04:02staying pretty close to normal into early next week. But the next weather
04:07event of any significance that we're watching is that sunday rain and snow
04:10potential.
04:15Mhm.
04:17Mhm.
04:20Mhm.
04:22Mhm.
