00:00To promote the human rights awareness in the higher education,

00:03the Commission on Human Rights, Central Visayas and Talisay City College

00:08inked a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of the Center for Human Rights Education.

00:22The Commission on Human Rights, Central Visayas and Talisay City College

00:26have signed a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of the Center for Human Rights

00:30Education. CHR is collaborating with higher education institutions to establish human

00:35rights center in their campuses as the academe plays a vital role in promoting human rights.

00:40We have been looking for academic institutions of higher education, higher education actually because

00:49in the first place the protection of human rights pertains to the obligation of the government.

00:56So we've been looking for government institutions being the primary protector of human rights and

01:04we've been we've been looking for institutions not only within Cebu province that have been

01:12trying to look for partners coming from the cross-oriental city or probably next or

01:20The center will serve as a social laboratory for human rights education

01:24and promoting human rights awareness in the community.

01:27And we are inspired now that finally we have this kind of collaboration so that this can be

01:36embedded, this can be part of the curriculum, the instruction and probably some other

01:46activities that we will be having with partner in partnering or part with partnership with the

01:53Commission on Human Rights. The responsibilities of the center include organizing volunteers

02:00and assisting in the establishment and capacity building of Barangay Human Rights Action Center.
