00:00Peter Dutton has been on a tour of Wallace Drilling in WA this morning.
00:07This is a company in Perth, it's in the seat of Hasluck, it's generally a safe Labor seat
00:12but one the Coalition has its eyes on.
00:14And he's been here speaking to the business owners with a bunch of Coalition Senators
00:19about money that the Opposition wants to commit to the state that will help businesses like
00:25this one.
00:26Wallace Drilling, he says, is a mining company, one of the businesses that would benefit from
00:30a $600 million roads package.
00:33Those are for agricultural roads, for mining roads, it's money that Peter Dutton says would
00:38improve transit and supply chains to and from mines into town.
00:45In regional areas, making sure that truck and transport movements are done safely is
00:51an absolute essential for us.
00:53Getting that product to the port more efficiently, more quickly, means more export dollars for
00:58WA and if we can have a really vibrant economy in WA then we can keep the Australian economy
01:03going as well.
01:06Western Australia is going to be an interesting place in this election.
01:09In the recent WA state election, while Labor won, there was some movement in some of the
01:14seats towards the Coalition.
01:16For example, in the seat of Pearce in Perth, that was a seat that while it went to Labor
01:21had some swings towards the Liberal Party.
01:23And so Peter Dutton has been in the seat of Pearce launching his Liberal candidates campaign
01:28there and he's hoping to capitalise on some of that momentum, perhaps some anger about
01:33the cost of living and try and bring that forward to the federal election on May 3rd.
