00:07Vertu Trophy final on the 13th of April with over 43,000 Blues fans set to
00:12dissent on the capital. The club quickly sold out their initial 36,800
00:18allocation, more than 10,000 above the 25,000 tickets given to EFL trophy
00:24holders Peterborough. An additional 6,490 tickets were granted bringing the
00:30official total to 43,356. In contrast Peterborough had the majority of
00:37supporters in last season's final against Wickham where over 22,000 posh
00:43fans watched Harrison Burroughs' late heroics secure the trophy. However one
00:49advantage for Darren Ferguson's side this time is kit selection with
00:54Peterborough opting to play in their black third strip with red trim. The
01:00record attendance for an EFL trophy final remains the 85,000 who watched
01:05Portsmouth defeat Sunderland on penalties in 2019. Blues will be aiming
01:11to replicate their 1995 triumph under Barry Fry when they won the competition
01:16alongside securing promotion. Meanwhile Peterborough, where Fry remains director
01:23of football, are looking to defend their title after last year's success. Both
01:29clubs are two-time winners, Blues in 1991 and 95, posh in 2014 and 2024 and the
01:36victor will join Bristol City as the only club with three titles in the
01:40competition. Previous finals with over 75,000 fans include Wolves' 1988 win over
01:47Burnley and Bolton's 2023 victory over Plymouth. Birmingham have also issued a
01:54statement warning fans against attempting to buy tickets in Peterborough's
01:59end. Any Blues supporter found guilty of doing so risks being banned from St.
02:05Andrew's and potential legal action reinforcing the importance of maintaining
02:11fan segregation at Wembley.
