00:00Good evening and welcome to Median TV. Thank you for joining us for a new newscast.
00:20Morocco returns to GMT plus 1 time, the Moroccans will have to set their watch again this Sunday at 2am.
00:30Logitech's Africa returns for a new edition, back on the issues and forecasts of this event of great magnitude, which highlights the digital potential of the continent at the beginning of the day.
00:43A wave of panic takes over the world markets after the response of Beijing to US customs law.
00:48The world exchanges continue to plunge today, with a fall in oil prices in particular.
00:57His Majesty King Mohammed VI congratulates Basir al-Jumaifa on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the independence of Senegal.
01:04The sovereign expresses his warm congratulations and his sincere wishes of health and happiness to the heads of the Senegalese state and more progress and prosperity.
01:13His Majesty King Mohammed VI took this opportunity to express his determination to continue the common action with the Senegalese president in order to consolidate the ancestral links of fraternity and solidarity linking the two countries.
01:26And if you are currently in Morocco, you should adjust soon.
01:31The time will be advanced by 60 minutes this Sunday at 2am.
01:35Explanations with Dina Mrini.
01:40Morocco returns to GMT plus 1 time this Sunday, April 6, at 2am, advancing the time by 60 minutes.
01:47This alternation between the two time zones arouses debate and does not bring unanimity among the population.
01:54Some appreciate this return to the time of summer and others point out the negative repercussions of GMT plus 1 on their health and quality of life.
02:05As far as I am concerned, I do not feel any difference whether we move forward or backwards shows us an hour.
02:11It is just a matter of organization and adaptation of sleeping hours in my opinion.
02:18Frankly, we are overwhelmed by this time change every time.
02:23I prefer that we remain stable on a single schedule, either GMT or GMT plus 1 throughout the year.
02:34Opponents of this change evoke the negative effects of this schedule on the mental and physical health of students, especially during the winter, when parents have a lot of trouble accompanying their children in the dark.
02:45This additional hour also has repercussions on the quality of sleep, which leads to chronic fatigue and a significant drop in productivity during the day.
02:58This additional hour could have a positive effect on the economy, but we as citizens do not ask what its use is.
03:07Personally, I find that this change has repercussions on the mental and physical health of several families.
03:16We have worked easily during the month of Ramadan with the GMT schedule.
03:21The time change affects our productivity.
03:28Despite growing criticism, the Moroccan government continues to justify the maintenance of the GMT schedule.
03:34Two main arguments are advanced, namely the alignment with the schedules of European trade partners and the management of energy consumption.
03:44While sheltering the GTEX Africa, Morocco stands as a regional digital hub.
03:49During a press conference dedicated to the presentation of this event, the Minister in charge of digital transition stressed that the GTEX is a showcase that allows the world to discover the talents and technological and digital potential of Africa.
04:02I invite you to listen to Amal Flaher-Sorouchny, Director of the Digital Development Agency.
04:09It is a unique opportunity on the African continent to discuss, debate, present products, create contacts, do networking, etc., in the field of digital, of course.
04:25As I said two minutes ago, this year we welcome 1,400 startups.
04:37Compared to the first edition, we were at 400 startups.
04:40This means that there is an extraordinary enthusiasm and perhaps also a productivity of Moroccan startups, not only Moroccan, but many Moroccan startups, which will be present at this GTEX.
04:54Our ministry accompanies Moroccan startups.
04:57We have selected 200 Moroccan startups for which we have financed the stand up to 95% of the cost of the stand.
05:07These Moroccan startups will be able to present their products, exchange globally on what they are doing in the field of digital.
05:19As you know, in less than two years, this event has been able to position our country, the African continent, as an important hub at the global level of the GTEX.
05:31It has also positioned our country as the largest GTEX event in the African continent, but also in the region.
05:42As you have seen, this edition is attended by investors, the largest investors in the field of digital at the international level, governments, private companies, but also startups and young innovative companies in the field of digital.
06:06This large mass is not a simple exhibition hall, but it is a lever, a platform that allows all participants to exchange expertise, but also to promote investment in the field of digital, but also to strengthen human capacities in the field of digital development.
06:24This is a great event whose main objective is to use digital as a lever to help Morocco and African countries to use it as a lever for their socio-economic development.
06:38Cooperation in Moroccan and French notary law is called to be strengthened.
06:43A vision that was at the heart of an interview held today in Rabat between the Moroccan Minister of Justice and members of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Notary History.
06:52This meeting was an opportunity to discuss the evolution of the profession of notary and to promote good practices in the field of notary law.
07:00On this occasion, Amtef Wabi congratulated itself on the collaboration between law and French and Moroccan notaries and insisted on the importance of the principles of development of law, particularly the rights of women and children.
07:13Before panicking, the world markets took hold after Beijing's response to US customs law. World stocks fell today. In Europe, the Paris Stock Exchange lost 4.26%, thus erasing all earnings of the year.
07:27The Frankfurt and London Stock Exchanges fell both by 4.95% and those of Milan by 6.53%, their strongest fall since the Covid-19 pandemic.
07:40Wall Street did not escape it. Dow Jones plunged by 3.94% and Nasdaq index by 4.82%.
07:48The recent US customs law revives the fears of an economic recession. Oil prices have been hit hard today, evolving at their lowest level in four years.
07:58Brent's barrel price fell by 6.74% to $65. The WTI plunged by 7.61% to $61. Shell fell by 7.47%, TotalEnergies by 6.24% and ENI by 4.53%.
08:21According to Hamas, the pursuit of Israeli attacks is endangering the hostages. The Palestinian movement warns that half of the hostages still alive are in areas where the Israeli army is asking the population to evacuate.
08:36Israel violated the ceasefire agreement on March 18 and resumed its bombing of the Palestinian enclave. More than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed since the resumption of Israeli attacks, including more than 400 children.
08:51Israel intensified its bombings in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army launched a new offensive on the ground this Friday, killing at least 30 people.
09:00The operation came after Benjamin Netanyahu's promise to accentuate military pressure on Hamas.
09:05In recent hours, Israeli forces have begun ground operations in Shujaa, in reference to the buffer zone that the Israeli army has created to extend what they call a security zone.
09:21In a field of ruins, Israel intensified its attacks in the east of the Gaza Strip, while the humanitarian situation is catastrophic.
09:29Lebanon denounces new Israeli strikes, while the UN is worried about war crimes after the death of several ambulances killed by Israeli troops.
09:39Explanations with Rashid Farhan.
09:42Israel continues its military operations this Friday with a new ground offensive in Gaza.
09:50The Israeli army launched an offensive on the ground in the Shujaa neighborhood in Gaza, claiming to want to extend its security zone.
10:00Bombings shook several sectors of the city, causing massive civilian movements.
10:07I don't think they will return to Rafah after that. And even if you come back, you could just find it in ruins because they won't leave anything.
10:21In parallel, an Israeli strike targeted Hamas leaders in Lebanon, causing indignant reactions from Lebanese authorities who denounce a violation of their sovereignty.
10:36The UN expressed its concern over the repeated attacks against the Gaza rescuers, evoking possible war crimes.
10:46I'm appalled by the recent murders of 15 medical personnel and humanitarian workers, which raises new concerns about the commission of war crimes by the Israeli army.
10:59There must be an independent investigation, and those responsible for any violation of international law must be held accountable.
11:10The conflict continues to intensify, fearing further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East.
11:21And since the violation of the ceasefire by Israel, thousands of Palestinians are on the side of the roads. Our correspondent Alcott Valéry-Ferrand tells us more.
11:31The population is not only bombed everywhere it is sheltered, but it is constantly bombed from one place to another, since there are both official evacuation orders.
11:44At the moment, the northern and southern parts of the country are also bombed, so we no longer see where displaced families can be sheltered.
11:54And even when these families are on the roads, they are bombed anyway.
11:59In addition to these forced and massive evacuation orders from the Israeli army,
12:05people flee as soon as there is a bomb somewhere, to try to go a little further, to find a little respite.
12:13In addition, the siege, which alone, without the bombs, is killing a lot of people, of course.
12:20You have all the usual patients, all the people who were affected, of course, by cancer, diabetes, who need medical care,
12:29who have not had it for almost a year and a half, and even less at the moment.
12:34In addition, of course, the case of pregnant women or those who have just given birth under the conditions we imagine,
12:42well, the nurses, from birth, know hunger and, of course, fear, the state of stress, everything you want,
12:49since there is no way to really take care of all this.
12:54While at the level of the United Nations and international organizations working in the Gaza Strip,
13:01since last week, everyone says that the disaster is indescribable,
13:06simply because we are not yet at the beginning of this military-Israeli offensive,
13:12of total war against civilian populations in the Gaza Strip, but we are at the end of a year and a half.
13:19The UN is horrified by the wave of extrajudicial executions that hit Khartoum since its resumption by the army,
13:26acts that aggravate a situation already critical of Sudan.
13:29Development with Rachid Farhan.
13:33Since the resumption of Khartoum by the Sudanese armed forces,
13:37disturbing reports evoke numerous executions of civilians accused of collaborating with the FSR.
13:44The High Commission of the United Nations on Human Rights denounces videos published online
13:50showing executions of civilians by armed men.
13:54For the UN, these acts constitute serious violations of international human rights.
14:00We are appalled by reports of widespread extrajudicial.
14:04We are horrified by the reports of vast extrajudicial executions of civilians in Khartoum
14:11after its resumption by the Sudanese armed forces on March 26.
14:15The armed forces share online executions of civilians killed in cold blood,
14:21accused of collaborating with the FSR.
14:30These violences are mainly reported in the southern and eastern districts of Khartoum,
14:35especially in the Janoubal-Hizam region.
14:38Hate speech is multiplying on the Internet,
14:42particularly targeting ethnic groups in Darfur and Kordofan.
14:46In a statement published on Thursday, March 3,
14:50the High Commissioner of the United Nations on Human Rights
14:53exhorts the commanders of the Sudanese armed forces
14:56to take immediate measures to end arbitrary deprivation of life
15:02and to launch independent, transparent and effective investigations.
15:07The war in Sudan, which broke out on April 15, 2023,
15:12caused, according to the UN, tens of thousands of deaths,
15:15uprooted more than 12 million inhabitants and caused a major humanitarian crisis.
15:25Freeing the potential of youth for a prosperous Africa,
15:28this is the theme of the Pan-African Summit 2025,
15:31of the leadership of young people.
15:32More than 1,000 participants are expected in Addis Ababa
15:34for this event co-organized by the Ethiopian government
15:37and the Pan-African Union of Youth.
15:39Details with Dina Mreni.
15:43In Addis Ababa, the future of African youth is at the heart of the debates
15:47at the Pan-African Summit of Youth Leadership.
15:50This summit essentially aims to discuss the challenges
15:53faced by African youth,
15:55to promote their participation in peace efforts
15:58and sustainable development on the continent,
16:01and to consolidate the unity of African youth.
16:04The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Moroccan ambassador in Ethiopia,
16:09Nizhal Aleoui Mhamdi,
16:11and the President of the African Union of Youth, Moumou Ndialla.
16:15You should know that this activity is organized by the Ethiopian government,
16:21the Pan-African Union of Youth and the African Union,
16:25which is a summit of African youth
16:29that aims to discuss with young people
16:32their commitment to African unity,
16:36to the construction of a prosperous Africa,
16:40an Africa of solidarity,
16:42an Africa of development.
16:45That's why we came here.
16:47But you should know that it is also a framework
16:50to allow us to recognize and thank the Kingdom of Morocco,
16:56especially His Majesty the King of Morocco,
17:00who gives great importance to the issue of youth.
17:04That's why today the chair of the Pan-African Union of Youth
17:07is based in Morocco.
17:09So the biggest partner is the Kingdom of Morocco today.
17:12A real catalyst for transformation,
17:14the summit also offers a platform to young entrepreneurs
17:17to present their innovations.
17:19Thanks to the notable support of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,
17:22the Pan-African Union of Youth is experiencing a visible revitalization,
17:26which is manifested through the conclusion of new partnerships
17:29for the benefit of the National Councils of Youth
17:32of the 54 African countries.
17:39The Pan-African Union of Youth is an union
17:42that brings together the Councils of Youth from all over the African continent.
17:45We are currently working closely with the Kingdom of Morocco,
17:49which houses the seat of the Arab Union.
17:52Our goal is to support young project leaders
17:55across the African continent.
18:03The summit also discusses various issues
18:05aimed at empowering young Africans
18:08while encouraging them to defend the interests of Africa
18:11on the international scene.
18:13The commitment of the Pan-African Union of Youth
18:15in the organization of the summit
18:17translates its mobilization towards young Africans
18:20for an active and inclusive participation
18:23in the decision-making process that concerns them.
18:27The Pan-African Union of Youth,
18:29which organizes this summit of young people in its seat in Rabat,
18:32what does this choice of Morocco reveal to welcome it?
18:34What role does Morocco play in favor of the development of youth?
18:38We listen to the answer of the political analyst,
18:40dear Sadi Boundiaye.
18:42As you know, Morocco is a strategic country for the Pan-African Union.
18:46It is a country that serves as a model for all African countries.
18:49I was even talking about Senegal, Mali and other countries.
18:52It is a country that has been able to show
18:55in recent years real development,
18:57real economic progress
18:59on the side of its GDP,
19:01on the side of industrialization and in other sectors.
19:04Morocco is really serving as a model
19:07for the African continent.
19:09This is why Morocco deserves this seat.
19:13Because it is an attractive country,
19:16a country that allows young Africans to train,
19:20but also a country that allows
19:22inclusive exchanges between African leaders.
19:26It is a strategic country for the African continent.
19:29It is a country that serves as a model,
19:31but also as a brother country,
19:33a country that cooperates practically with most African countries.
19:36It is a choice that is to be congratulated on.
19:40It is a viable choice,
19:43a choice that will also allow Moroccans
19:45to be able to continue this contribution
19:47and this cooperation that has been magnified
19:52by most African leaders,
19:54but also by most leaders.
19:56So how to finance the Senegal Vision 2050?
20:00A question that has become the subject of a round table
20:02organized by the associations of Senegalese civil society.
20:07This round table looks at the financing
20:10of the National Agenda for the Transformation of the Senegal Vision 2050,
20:15an opportunity for the development of effective financing strategies
20:20based on an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses,
20:23opportunities and threats for Senegal.
20:26In this perspective, between 2025 and 2029,
20:29it is planned for Senegal to finance
20:34up to 4,370 billion francs CFA on the PPP project.
20:41So it is quite substantial
20:43and it will intervene on essential infrastructures.
20:46And the advantage with the PPP is that
20:48we will perhaps solve a problem that is chronic in our country,
20:51our ability to maintain the infrastructures that we develop.
20:54So with the involvement of the private sector,
20:56not only will we act on our debt to make it more sustainable,
21:01but we also give ourselves guarantees
21:03for the continuity of the infrastructures that are developed in this sense.
21:06In this regard, strategic orientations have been proposed
21:10to answer the question of development financing.
21:13The United Nations has said that development is a right.
21:16Nobody wants to live in poverty.
21:18So this development is a right recognized by the International Committee.
21:22But the problem now is how to finance this development.
21:25Yes, we can finance the development of a time,
21:30of a period, of a moment,
21:33and this continues with the assistance of other financiers
21:37or other financiers who take the initiative.
21:39Development is not something fixed here and now.
21:43It is a continuous process.
21:46So we can finance development programs
21:49that allow a country, a community, a time
21:54to be at ease and to feel fulfilled.
21:58The collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders
22:02are essential to guarantee the attainment of the results
22:06and their durability.
22:08The new government that has just arrived after the 2024 alternative
22:12has installed what is called in Senegal the Transformation 2050.
22:18So that means that from 2025 to 2050,
22:22Senegal wants and wishes, the government of Senegal,
22:26that its development takes place on the basis of a social and economic transformation.
22:31So this raises questions of financing.
22:33The 4th International Conference on the Financing of the Development of the United Nations
22:38is scheduled for June in Spain.
22:41The recommendations from this roundtable will be presented there.
22:49This is the end of this news.
22:50Thank you for following it.
22:52Stay with us.
22:53The information continues on Mediantv.
