00:00In all motorsport, but especially in these F3 races, we look at Joshua Dufek at the front row here, the number 15 for Hitek TGR.
00:07He'll be looking to get a good start. Worth noting, headwind into turn one yesterday, tailwind into turn one today,
00:13but the wind has been spinning around this morning. It was headwind this morning, and then it changed to sideways,
00:19a sort of a headwind down to turn four, but now two meters per second, tailwind down towards turn one.
00:25So I'm expecting to see drivers potentially being pushed into that braking zone a little more,
00:30so you'll be arriving at turn one faster. You won't be able to decelerate quite as quickly.
00:34Keep an eye out for a couple of lockups in the first couple of laps into there if those drivers haven't quite clocked that.
00:39Delpino's been noted for a starting procedure infringement.
00:43Now, if you're new to Formula 3, we reverse to top 12 for this sprint race.
00:46Points go to the top 10. 10 for the winner, one down to 10.
00:50DRS will be open after one lap here, three DRS zones.
00:53The first time we'll see it is down to that run at turn four, which is going to be a key area for overtaking,
00:59and also that extended gravel trap.
01:01Yeah, turn four is going to be the first time we see DRS pass on sort of the start of lap two,
01:06but then once the race is underway, of course, we have DRS zone down to turn one, DRS zone down to turn four,
01:11and then again into turn 11.
01:14It's going to be an interesting race.
01:15I think we're going to see some to-ing and fro-ing as the DRS zone down to turn one,
01:19and also to turn four, but go back to back.
01:22Now, Bruno Del Pino has just come into the pit lane,
01:25and now he was noted for a starting procedure infringement.
01:28Bruno Del Pino was due to start eighth.
01:31He is now in the pit lane.
01:33I believe something was happening when we were seeing the grid,
01:36and Bruno Del Pino, it appears, may have been instructed to start this one from pit lane,
01:42but we will pick more info up on that as we receive it.
01:46But a real shame for Bruno Del Pino looking for his first points.
01:49We will be in the pit lane.
01:52Tuukka Tapanen will be on his own on row four,
01:56and there is Bruno Del Pino.
01:58He will be starting from fifth place in the highest-scoring feature race tomorrow.
02:04Okay, it looks like the remaining 29 drivers who will start this race on the grid are ready to go,
02:11and we are about to go racing for the sprint race at round two.
02:16Green flag is waving at the back of the field.
02:19There come the lights.
02:20To the left of your picture, Martinius Stenchorn.
02:23To the right is Josh Dufek,
02:25and we are go for the sprint race here at Bahrain.
02:29Rafa Kamara, I believe, did not get going a little bit further back,
02:33but we've got Josh Dufek leading us down towards turn one.
02:37For the first time, Martinius Stenchorn in the papaya trying to go around the outside.
02:42In third place, that is Freddy Slater.
02:44Nikola Solov has gone through the fourth.
02:46Sandro Giusti in the Williams colours is in P5.
02:49The rest of the field making their way down towards turn four.
02:53We are side by side there.
02:55Slater going around the outside of Martinius Stenchorn.
02:58He's side by side there, almost in the gravel.
03:01Slater on his debut, getting his elbows out,
03:04trying to pass Stenchorn, and he's done it, Piers Pryor.
03:07That's a statement of intent from Slater,
03:08joining F3, going around the outside of a second-year driver into turn four.
03:13Martinius Stenchorn gave him a hip and shoulder,
03:15bit of contact in the middle,
03:16but then Slater kept his foot in, running two wheels through the gravel.
03:19We'll keep an eye as to whether the race director has a look at that,
03:22but it's a pretty clean start so far, actually,
03:24until we see someone run wide on the exit of turn number eight there.
03:28Confirmation, Rafa Kamara stalled on the green.
03:31Our championship leader did not get going.
03:34We will see if he comes through the first sector, which he has done.
03:37Okay, remainder of the field, down to turn 11.
03:41It is Josh Dufek leading Slater, Stenchorn, Solov.
03:45This is Christian Ho in the blue damped Lucas Oil colors,
03:49trying to make his move up the field there.
03:52I believe he's trying to get past the likes of Noel Leon as they head.
03:58Now, here is Rafa Kamara, championship leader.
04:00He scored no points in the sprint race at round one,
04:03where he DNF'd and his winner disaster start,
04:06he appears for Rafa Kamara once again.
04:09Yeah, absolutely, he was the man of qualifying yesterday,
04:11but he's actually got so far down, he's behind the medical car.
04:14As we cut back to the front of the field,
04:16it's a good start from Dufek,
04:17who's gap slayed a little bit in that middle sector.
04:20Stenchorn down in third, running wide.
04:22That was another one on the road in cars.
04:23Is that kind of force?
04:25We'll keep you informed as we see that.
04:27Across the line we go to complete the first lap.
04:32Dufek leading Slater, leading Stenchorn, leading Solov.
04:35There goes Christian Ho in the blue damped Lucas Oil car,
04:39down the inside of Noel Leon.
04:41We've got several moves being overtaken.
04:43We've got DRS enabled.
04:45Watch for the flaps being open.
04:47There they go, down to turn four.
04:49We've got Kicks of Gravel being flicked up
04:52as they head down to turn four.
04:54Points to the top ten, remember,
04:56Nicola Marinangeli is reporting a puncture
04:59and he's dropped to the back of the field.
05:02Slater is within one second, crucially, of Josh Dufek,
05:06which you need to be to get DRS.
05:09We could see this gap closing.
05:11Stenchorn is under threat as well
05:12from the Red Bull junior of Solov.
05:14Tap on in, closing in likewise.
05:17Then Giusti is slightly vulnerable
05:19from Callum Voisin in P6.
05:21Tramnitz is next.
05:23Oh, we've got a move going on
05:24and we've got someone slow.
05:25One of the ARTs is in trouble.
05:27Verts, meanwhile, goes past Louis Sharp,
05:30who's made a good start to the race.
05:32Verts has gone through into P12.
05:35One of the ARTs it was who was in trouble,
05:37which I think may have been James Wharton
05:40travelling down towards us now.
05:42We're still battling away a little bit further back.
05:44That's the number 11 who's got a puncture there.
05:46That's the Santa Paul Interpouba zone.
05:47Yeah, front puncture and front wing damage,
05:49so he must have had contact potentially
05:50through that turn 9 and 10 section.
05:52We see side by side into turn 13 here.
05:55Road in of number 24.
05:57That's Louis Sharp bending off the attack
05:59from Fidel Pino.
06:00Well, this is Nicola Maranangeli coming in to pit lane.
06:06He reported a puncture and he is in to pit lane.
06:11So that is possibly him out.
06:15And Santa Paul Interpouba is being advised to come in.
06:18Right, no Leon running wide in the background.
06:20He's got Noah Stromstead behind.
06:22Meanwhile, we have a change for the lead.
06:24Freddie Slater comes into F3
06:27and hits the front on lap 3.
06:29Freddie Slater is leading us
06:31in this Formula 3 sprint race.
06:34Three laps into his Formula 3 career
06:36and he now leads us down to turn 4.
06:39Josh Dufek second.
06:41Solov is third.
06:43Stenjorn is fourth.
06:44Tap on end is P5.
06:45We've got a great battle here
06:47forming Piers for P3.
06:49They've got to be careful though
06:50that they don't let those two leaders get away.
06:52Yeah, Slater, we heard from him
06:54in that pre-Greed interview
06:55that he was absolutely fired off.
06:57He was like, yeah, I'm going for the lead.
06:59If there's an opportunity, I'm taking it.
07:01Interesting to hear,
07:02just to see as the race goes on
07:04whether he is going to be able to look after those tyres
07:06at this flistering pace that he started the race.
07:08So that's a change for third.
07:09Solov has gone past Stenjorn for third place
07:13whilst we were seeing Slater go past Dufek.
07:16That is to Santa Paul in Trupouba's sack
07:18going out of pit lane.
07:21Lots to unpack from the start.
07:22Let's watch it back.
07:23Watch for Kamara.
07:24Yeah, Kamara just rolls away from the line
07:27but then stalls.
07:28That was a second phase starting stall there
07:30so potentially just pulled the clutch out too quickly.
07:32But a pretty, pretty solid start
07:33for everyone inside the top five.
07:35Line astern going into turn number one.
07:37Defensive from the front of the field
07:39but then look at Slater already checking to the outside.
07:42Three wide for the lead.
07:43Three wide for sixth place as well.
07:45Everyone getting through pretty cleanly.
07:47I think that might have been the start
07:48of the contact group for Pouba's sack.
07:50Two cars through the gravel.
07:52But then this is the move that we all saw.
07:54Slater around the outside with the green highlights.
07:56Side by side, he got alongside his front wheels
07:58alongside Stenjorn which is important.
08:00And then let's have a look on board with Kamara.
08:02Listen in.
08:02Yeah, just pulled the clutch out too quickly
08:06and the engine stalling, getting it started eventually
08:09as we saw him carry on.
08:10But pretty much everyone and the medical car
08:12making it past him.
08:13A nightmare start to Kamara
08:15who was absolutely the man of the day yesterday.
08:17And this is the move on board with Slater.
08:18Let's watch.
08:19So here Stenjorn looking to the outside
08:22so we're nearly going three wide.
08:23Slater, this is really good.
08:26Carrying a lot of speed to the middle.
08:29Critically getting tyre to tyre
08:30so that if Stenjorn did squeeze him
08:32it wouldn't have pushed him off the road.
08:34And then a nice little bit of a
08:36great assertive driving from Slater
08:38pushing Stenjorn back to the right-hand side
08:41and then battling further down the field.
08:42That's the AX.
08:43That's how they got their puncture.
08:44Yeah, that's Maranangeli.
08:46Maranangeli.
08:46So that was already had a puncture at that stage actually
08:49so that may have been a contact at turn four
08:51that we didn't quite catch.
08:52And then wow, the 24 there.
08:54That's sharp going almost completely off the road
08:57on the inside.
08:58Really, really aggressive to get past
08:59and then more contact we saw behind.
09:02Yeah, that's Brando Bedua
09:03in the papaya there.
09:05Battling through the number 11.
09:07This is Tosana Boynton Pouwizac.
09:08I think this is where he got his damage.
09:10That was it.
09:10So he was actually moving up the inside
09:12of the sixth of the verts.
09:14He carried so much speed
09:15on the entry of the corner
09:16that he ended up clipping
09:17the back of the car head.
09:18Oh, Ugo Chikwu stopped.
09:21Ugo, Ugo Chikwu.
09:22It's not been the best of starts
09:25for framework racing.
09:27It's not been the best of weekend for them so far.
09:29And Ugo, Ugo Chikwu has come to a stop
09:32on the exit of turn two.
09:35Meanwhile, retiring from the race
09:37is Nicola Marin Angele
09:38and not the best of starts for him.
09:41But we haven't seen what's happened to Ugo,
09:43Ugo Chikwu as of yet.
09:44The safety car is out.
09:46Well, that brings Rafa Kamara back into play.
09:49It brings Tosana Boynton Pouwizac back into play as well.
09:53Freddy Slater, our leader,
09:54will bring us round to join the front of the queue
09:58of the safety car.
09:59And it gives us a chance, Piz,
10:01to take a breath because that has been
10:03a very hectic start to the sprint race here at Bahrain.
10:06Hugely impressive, Team Radio.
10:09Brando Badu has got a puncture as well.
10:11Yeah.
10:11So we've got Ugo Ugo Chikwu stopped
10:14and we've got Brando with a puncture.
10:16Now, he was the driver battling
10:18into the final corner
10:20when we were watching those replays there.
10:22So I'm not sure if that's where he got that
10:24or if it was later around.
10:26Impressive start from Debbie Slater.
10:30He, of course, is 16 years old,
10:31his first race.
10:32Go on, we've got some driver at the back.
10:33That's Brando Badu.
10:34Ah, yeah, that'll be that puncture that we just heard about.
10:37So, yeah, unfortunately for Badu.
10:39But yeah, Slater at the front of the field.
10:41Impressive.
10:41And this safety car will actually help him, certainly.
10:44Because the less laps he has to do at racing speed,
10:46the less he has to manage those tyres.
10:48And, of course, he has a relative lack of experience
10:50compared to a lot of the drivers around him
10:52with these Pirelli tyres.
10:54Well, Brando Badu is in.
10:55And as long as they can get that car back out quickly,
10:57then he should just join the back of the queue.
10:59And there he goes.
11:00And that will give him a chance
11:01to try and work his way back up the order.
11:04OK, let's have a watch back at...
11:06This is Noah Stromsted.
11:09And this is where Badu gets his puncture, possibly.
11:11Is it?
11:11Let's have a look.
11:12Oh, and there we go.
11:13Uga Chikwu and Badu are making contact.
11:15And that's where Uga Chikwu comes to a stop.
11:18Interesting.
11:19A small amount of contact like that
11:20can bring him to a complete stop.
11:21So, potentially, the contact causing some sort of component failure.
11:27But really unfortunate for Uga Chikwu,
11:30who was a slightly innocent part of that, wasn't he?
11:32But also, we saw Sharp there having a front wing damage at that stage as well.
11:36So, he'd already had contact and was still soldiering on trying to make moves.
11:39So, Freddy Slater, our leader.
11:43And Josh Dufek second.
11:45Solov did get by Stenshawn for P3.
11:49What a start to Formula 3 for Freddy Slater.
11:53Welcome to the grid.
11:55He has fired his way up into the lead.
11:58Still a long way to go into this race, of course.
12:00Josh Dufek doing a great job there in P2.
12:03But Solov, the driver with the most experience here,
12:07he will be looking to try and work his way forward.
12:11And he will welcome, I think, this safety car
12:14to just bring him right to the front.
12:17Man, it's very hot and I'm very thirsty, man.
12:20Come on, mate.
12:22For the lion.
12:25Interesting to hear that, that he's saying I'm really hot.
12:28And it is ridiculously hot.
12:3038 degrees now is the air temperature.
12:3338 and a half.
12:34Which, I mean, if anyone's ever been in 38 degrees, that's hot.
12:37But very few people have been in 38 degrees
12:39and had to drive a racing car in a very confined environment.
12:43And actually, going slower under the safety car,
12:46less air flowing over you.
12:47So, potentially a little bit less cooling,
12:49but you're not having to work quite as hard as potentially other circuits.
12:53Normally, you'll see a lot of weaving,
12:55a lot of braking and accelerating from these Formula 3 drivers
12:58under safety car conditions.
13:00However, with it being so hot,
13:02these Pirelli tyres are able to maintain temperatures
13:05just by rolling around,
13:06which will give the drivers a welcome respite.
13:10Now, let's have a watch back here.
13:12This was Badua and Lecorte.
13:16Up the inside goes Badua.
13:17Pretty standard move.
13:19Lecorte trying to keep his foot in around the outside.
13:20Gets over that very bumpy curve, which hurts his exit.
13:23And then he loses that position to the 21 of Ramos.
13:27He was an idiot.
13:30Who is Badua referring to in that incident?
13:34We'll leave that up to speculation.
13:36You can decide at home.
13:37As the safety car pushing on,
13:39still a nice little slither on the exit at Turn 4 there,
13:42illustrating how the off-camber nature of that exit at the corner
13:45can force your car wide.
13:46But this is the man that, of course,
13:48we've spent a lot of time looking at this race so far.
13:50Started in 3rd, made a move around the outside of Turn 4
13:53on lap 1 to click 2nd,
13:54and then a decisive move into the lead.
13:57Can he hold off the attacks of Dufek, Solov and Stensohn?
14:01The time will tell.
14:03I reckon we've got one, maybe two more laps on the safety car,
14:06so we're going to get at least another 10 or 12 racing laps.
14:11Instant involving cars 11, Intipubizac,
14:14and 4, Struppstead and O2 for the inclusion.
14:17We'll take a look at that.
14:18That's where Intipubizac got his puncture.
14:23And then that was Uga Chikwa and Badua.
14:24We saw Sharp locking up,
14:26and then Uga Chikwa and Badua colliding.
14:29And that has also been noted for causing a collision.
14:35Well, the safety car is leading us round.
14:37Let's go through the top 10,
14:38and the drivers who have currently scored points.
14:40Slater is leading from Dufek.
14:43Solov, Stensohn, Tapanen, Jyusti, Voisin,
14:47Tramnitz, Ho and Stromstead.
14:49Dufek, what will his plan here be, Piers?
14:51Will it be to get on the attack straight away
14:53or manage his tyres?
14:55Well, interesting that I mentioned earlier on
14:58that the wind has been swirling around this morning.
14:59It looks like we're going to be going green this time.
15:02Headwind now into Turn 1.
15:03That'll help the drivers behind the DRS
15:06and slipstream will be more effective.
15:07Complete 180 flip from the wind.
15:09It's not particularly strong out there,
15:11but also another note that you must stop your weaving
15:14by the 150-metre board,
15:16which is coming up very shortly,
15:17which is what Slater has done.
15:18He's been reading the race director's notes.
15:20Oh, maybe not.
15:21But he's going to be going at any moment now,
15:22trying to catch the rest of the field off guard
15:25so we can just get a little bit of extra gap down to Turn 1,
15:28and he's done very well.
15:29Accelerating on the entry of the final corner,
15:30and he's got himself nearly half a second already,
15:32and it's actually going to be Dufek
15:33that's under pressure from Solov.
15:35We are back racing in FIA Formula 3 sprint race once again.
15:39Slater taking us over the line,
15:42and Dufek is under pressure.
15:43The Red Bull junior, Nikola Solov,
15:45down the inside, in towards the first corner there,
15:49and a change for second place.
15:51Nikola Solov on the attack and goes into P2.
15:55Stenchon is in fourth place.
15:57Fifth place is Tuka Tapone,
15:59and it looks like it's been a clean start up and down,
16:01and under threat, the Williams Academy driver,
16:03Sandro Giusti.
16:04There he is,
16:05defending from the black and white roading car of Callum Boisin,
16:09who's going to try and get the cutback out of Turn 4.
16:12We've got another Red Bull junior behind.
16:14Tim Dramnitz has worked his way up from P13 to P8 so far, Piz.
16:18Yeah, that's a brilliant start from Solov,
16:20and he's already climbing onto the back of Slater.
16:23He's showing his experience there.
16:24He came over the line,
16:25only a few thousands behind Dufek in third place,
16:29which is exactly where he wanted to be,
16:30and then effecting a move without DRS down into Turn 1.
16:33Brilliant move from him.
16:35Slater will now see that there's a different driver behind him,
16:38and potentially not enjoying seeing the second-year Solov right behind him,
16:42as he knows that Solov here last year was very, very good.
16:46Solov has taken three wins in Formula 3 already in his career,
16:52and he wants to get his season going.
16:54It was not a good first round for him.
16:56He did get an eighth place,
16:58but DNF'd in the crucial feature race.
17:00This would be a great chance for him to put some big points on the board.
17:04Great angle there as we see them come up to P13.
17:08How does Slater, the 16-year-old, manage this?
17:11We had a young 16-year-old win here last year in Arvid Lindblad on his debut.
17:17Will history repeat itself in young Freddy Slater,
17:21or can the experience of Nikola Solov take over?
17:24Out of the final corner,
17:26they come down the start, finish straight we go.
17:29Are we going to see any moves being made?
17:32We will see the DRS being enabled.
17:35Freddy Slater, is he going to go defensive down towards the first corner?
17:39Watch for the likes of Tuukka Tapanen there in the black and red ART.
17:44He goes to the outside of Stenshawn.
17:47He could get the run here down to turn four, Piz.
17:49Yeah, Tapanen forcing Stenshawn defensive into turn one,
17:52and that will be exactly what Tapanen wanted,
17:54because it will hurt Stenshawn's exit.
17:56Stenshawn has got the DRS from the cards ahead,
17:58but still needing to go to defensive.
18:00Will we see another driver going around the outside of Stenshawn?
18:02I reckon Stenshawn's going to be a bit more resilient in his defence here.
18:05Oh, this is so close.
18:07That was rude from Stenshawn.
18:08I think it would just about be OK,
18:10but he learnt from that mistake
18:11that was letting Slater pass earlier on in the race.
18:14Elbows out from Stenshawn there.
18:17Tapanen is going to have to go again,
18:19and Sandro Giusti will want a piece of this as well.
18:22Callum Boison has come up from P11.
18:24He's looking to join the party as well.
18:27Great Formula 3 action we're seeing,
18:28and we're not even halfway through yet.
18:30Slater takes us into Turn 10 on lap 8 of 19.
18:35There is Tuka Tapanen, part of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
18:39He's chasing down McLaren supported.
18:41Martini Stenshawn ahead of him,
18:43and we've got Josh Tupac in P3
18:46and the Red Bull Junior of Nikola Solov
18:49after that going after Freddy Slater,
18:52who is making his first appearance in the Championship.
18:55Rounds, Turn 12 and up to 13.
18:57This is nicely poised, isn't it?
19:00Not for Roman Belinsky, though.
19:01He has to come in for a front wing change.
19:03Actually, Slater at the front of the field,
19:05slightly gapping Solov in second place,
19:07so clearly got that ARX car dialed underneath him.
19:10But it's this long run down to the last corner,
19:12long run then down to Turn 1 and then Turn 4,
19:14where the grid gets bunched up,
19:16and if you're the one at the front of the field
19:18punching that first hole in the air
19:20and also being the only car in this train without DRS,
19:23the pressure is going to be mounting.
19:24I think we could see some changes this time.
19:26Nikola Solov is very close.
19:28He's within half a second.
19:30Is Freddy Slater's lead going to be under threat?
19:32Here we go.
19:33Slater thinks so.
19:34He's gone defensive,
19:35and Solov's going to go for it into the first corner.
19:38Change for the lead incoming
19:39as Nikola Solov goes up the inside,
19:41but Freddy Slater saw it coming
19:43and takes that position straight back on the exit.
19:47Meanwhile, the two high-tech drivers
19:48are fighting away there.
19:50Josh Dufek defending from Martinius Stenshawn
19:53in the background.
19:54Tuukka Tappanen sees an opportunity
19:56around the outside of not one high-tech,
19:59possibly two.
20:00Let's see what he can do on the exit.
20:01Tuukka Tappanen going for it this time.
20:04This is your battle for P3.
20:05They were almost three wide there.
20:07Somehow they stayed in the same order, Piers.
20:09Yeah, Tappanen nearly got that move done
20:11on the entry around the outside of Stenshawn,
20:12but now defensive goes Stenshawn
20:14and that orange car we can see
20:15from the overboard shot.
20:16But Tappanen getting a narrower exit.
20:18Solov's got Tim Rodeo,
20:20he's moving under braking.
20:21I think that was probably just about okay
20:23from Slater at the front of the field.
20:25He made his move just before the braking zone,
20:27in my opinion,
20:27as a lock-up now,
20:28big lock-up.
20:29That was riding on board with the...
20:32Was that...
20:33Josh Dufek.
20:34That was with Josh Dufek.
20:35So that won't be hurting his...
20:36That won't be helping
20:37his front-left tyre life in the race.
20:39and now Dufek losing the DRS from Solov.
20:42Stenshawn round the outside of his teammate,
20:44Josh Dufek,
20:45and that will be move complete there
20:47as Stenshawn goes through.
20:49But crucially,
20:50they have lost DRS to the two leaders.
20:53So the gap has gone.
20:54You can see to the left-hand side,
20:56the gap's gone up to 1.6
20:57as Dufek will lose another place.
20:59Tuka Tappanen is now going through.
21:01They now need to try and work together here, Piers,
21:03because the top two are 1.6 seconds clear.
21:07So it's Stenshawn third,
21:08Tappanen is now in fourth.
21:10Dufek is fifth and vulnerable
21:12to lose possibly another position
21:14to Sandro Giusti.
21:16Are we going to see round two
21:18between our two leaders,
21:19Slater and Solov?
21:21Solov tried to move last time.
21:23He was possibly a little bit closer
21:24behind Sandro Giusti.
21:27In the Williams Academy livery,
21:29is going to make his move
21:31on Josh Dufek.
21:32Here we go.
21:32We ride on board with Dufek,
21:35who does a good job on the brakes,
21:37maybe a little bit too ambitious
21:39on the brakes,
21:40and that will allow Sandro Giusti
21:41to go through.
21:42Yeah, it looked like he braked
21:43optimistically late there.
21:44Giusti lurching backwards
21:46in relation to the on-board camera,
21:48but couldn't get it stopped
21:48if we see him move up the inside
21:49for the lead.
21:50Solov up the inside.
21:51Will Slater get the cutback?
21:52Looks to try and tuck underneath
21:54the Red Bull liveried car,
21:56and it's side by side
21:57into turn five and six,
21:58and Slater keeps the lead.
21:59He's showing experience
22:00beyond his years here.
22:01It's a couple of times
22:02that he's managed to make moves
22:04as other drivers
22:05fall by the wayside.
22:06And Slater there
22:07going defensive once again,
22:08but Solov thinks
22:09he's found a gap once more.
22:11And now we're going to
22:12have another change,
22:13but it will be
22:13for a very brief period
22:15because on the exit,
22:17Slater is just,
22:18just ahead of Nikola Solov.
22:21This is brilliant racing
22:22between Slater and Solov,
22:24and Solov will have to go again.
22:26We're into another DRS zone.
22:28Surely he's not going
22:29to be able to do it
22:30down at turn 11.
22:32Slater not defending.
22:33He doesn't believe
22:34that there is an opportunity there,
22:37and for now,
22:38they stay in the same order,
22:39but the gap is coming down.
22:41Look to the left-hand side
22:43of the screen.
22:44Stenshawn is almost
22:45within one second,
22:47and that gap they had
22:48over the field
22:49is diminishing very quickly,
22:51Piz.
22:51Yeah, Slater doing very,
22:52very well to fend off
22:53two attacks from Solov
22:54on this lap,
22:55but it's not hurting,
22:56it's not helping
22:57the pair of them.
22:58Of course, Stenshawn
22:59will be licking his lips
22:59at this,
23:00seeing the two of them
23:01work their way
23:02back towards him,
23:03and very shortly,
23:03Stenshawn will be in DRS
23:04once again.
23:05Solov looking to the outside.
23:07We ride on,
23:08in fact, sorry,
23:08this is Tramnitz
23:09that we're looking at,
23:11so this is on board
23:12with Josh Dufek,
23:13who is going to
23:14be overtaking now
23:16by Tramnitz.
23:17Sadly,
23:18he has lost
23:19another position.
23:20Josh Dufek
23:21not having the race
23:22he would have hoped for,
23:23but meanwhile,
23:24Nikola Solov,
23:25take five,
23:26I think this might be,
23:26down the inside
23:27of Freddy Slater.
23:29Change of lead
23:30there in the background.
23:32That is Tramnitz
23:33going through,
23:34and we have a change
23:35of lead once more.
23:36Solov ahead
23:37of Freddy Slater,
23:38but you know
23:39what's going to happen next?
23:40Freddy Slater's
23:41going to fight
23:41straight back,
23:42and this is one
23:43of his favourite
23:44places to pass.
23:45Round the outside
23:46at turn four.
23:47Will he be able
23:48to get it?
23:48Not quite,
23:49so Solov,
23:50for the first time,
23:52is able to get a lead
23:53and establish it,
23:54Piers.
23:54Yeah, Solov
23:55using his experience
23:56there.
23:56He knows,
23:57he knew that last time
23:58he went up the inside
23:59at turn one,
23:59he went too deep.
24:00This time,
24:00managed to get it stopped,
24:01and even though Slater
24:02had the DRS
24:03down to turn four,
24:04Solov was very wise,
24:06went to the inside,
24:06forced Slater
24:07to go around the outside,
24:08but because the
24:09Freddy tyres are going,
24:10getting worse and worse,
24:12this is the,
24:13oh,
24:13this is Taffanen,
24:14yes,
24:14earlier on in the race,
24:15trying to go around
24:15the outside
24:16of Stenshawn.
24:17and we watched it
24:18on Bulba Taffanen earlier
24:19and actually,
24:20watching it off,
24:21but it looks a little worse
24:22in Stenshawn's favour there,
24:23which is why it's
24:24under investigation,
24:25I think.
24:26Yes,
24:26indeed,
24:27and Taffanen is now third,
24:30Stenshawn is now fourth,
24:32and I wonder if that has been
24:35advised to do,
24:37because Taffanen is now
24:38the driver in third place,
24:40Stenshawn fourth,
24:40Shigosti is fifth,
24:41whoa,
24:42look at this,
24:43two by two,
24:43they go around
24:44at turn 11,
24:45we've got the Van Amersport
24:46teammates in there,
24:47we've got the AIX driver
24:49of Sagrera in there
24:51as well,
24:51around the outside
24:52of Ivan Dominguez,
24:53James Wharton
24:54trying to get up
24:55the inside as well,
24:57it is a furious battle,
24:59Laurence Van Hooppen
24:59is in the seven,
25:01he's got his teammates
25:01of Wharton behind him
25:03as well,
25:03then Nicola LaCorte
25:04and Sagrera,
25:05oh,
25:06and we've got a slowing
25:07Teofil Nihal,
25:09who is trying to get
25:10out the way,
25:11I imagine he's
25:11trundling back round
25:13to get to pit lane,
25:15that's a shame
25:16for Teofil Nihal
25:17who was on the podium
25:18at the first round
25:19but seemingly
25:20he's on his way
25:21back to the pits
25:22and this,
25:23Sagrera,
25:24defending for 14th
25:25down to turn one,
25:26yes,
25:26Sagrera's going to struggle here,
25:28he's got a bit of damage
25:28on his front end of the car,
25:30he's missing a front wing end plate
25:31and a bit of a knock
25:32on the end of his nose box
25:33as the seven goes up
25:34the inside
25:35and narrowly avoids
25:37contact into turn number one,
25:38that was Laurence Van Hooppen
25:40who was basically
25:41three wheels locked up
25:42going into there,
25:43was lucky to get away with that
25:45but this battle
25:45is about five cars
25:46and you can barely tell
25:47who's going to come out
25:48on top corner by corner.
25:50Solov leading Slater out front,
25:52meanwhile this is your battle,
25:54the two ART teammates
25:56all fighting away
25:57with each other
25:58and not giving
25:59any space
26:00at all there,
26:02that was
26:03the likes of
26:05Van Hooppen
26:06fighting away
26:07with Wharton
26:08and we've got
26:10Rafa Kamara
26:11in this as well
26:12trying to get his way
26:13back up the order,
26:15Solov is reporting
26:17his tyres
26:17are falling away
26:19so that is interesting,
26:21we've had that incident
26:23for Stenshawn and Tafanen,
26:25no further investigation,
26:26they have swapped places,
26:28so Tafanen, Stenshawn,
26:30no further investigation,
26:32Stenshawn meanwhile
26:34has Giusti right behind him,
26:36Voizen next,
26:37so that is a good battle
26:38going on
26:39and Tafanen
26:40almost within DRS
26:42of Slater,
26:42Hoopiz
26:44is catching the leader,
26:46he has reported
26:47his tyres are going off
26:48and Slater is coming
26:49back at him.
26:50I don't think it's
26:51just Solov
26:52that's going to be
26:52struggling with rear tyres
26:53though,
26:54everyone's tyres
26:54will be going off
26:55at this stage
26:55and we rode on board
26:57with one of the drivers
26:58earlier on,
26:58we could see the tyres
26:59visibly looking like
27:00they're falling apart
27:01and that is our
27:02second place driver
27:04in the Championship,
27:04Teofil Nile
27:05who's come in the pits,
27:06let's have a quick look
27:07and see if we can see
27:07the cause of that,
27:09where is Nile?
27:10Nile was in the
27:11orange
27:12and black
27:13and there we go,
27:14that's contact
27:14from an AIX driver
27:16of Sagrera
27:16and he had another
27:17go as well
27:18and he reported
27:19and you saw the damage
27:20to his front wing
27:21because of that as well.
27:22Yes,
27:23potentially damaging
27:24something in the rear
27:25suspension of Nile's car
27:26which is maybe
27:26why he's in the pits
27:27and this was the move
27:28from the number 7
27:29that was Van Hoopen
27:31who just about
27:32avoided contact
27:33through more luck
27:34than judgement
27:35in that instance
27:35as he was very much
27:36out of control
27:37on the way to the apex
27:38and then this is
27:38further fighting down the field
27:40is a big slide
27:40oh no,
27:41there we go,
27:41that's another driver
27:42that's got damage
27:43that's La Corte
27:45who's got a rear tow link
27:47broken
27:47clearly involved
27:48in some sort of contact
27:49in that middle group
27:50as well
27:51as we ride on board
27:52with Giusti
27:53in 5th place
27:54closing the gap
27:55to Stenshawn
27:55yes,
27:56yes,
27:57this is Giusti
27:58who's having a great weekend
27:59so far
28:00good chance
28:01for Stenshawn
28:02oh,
28:02there we go
28:03well we saw
28:03the replay of La Corte
28:05now we're seeing it
28:05in real time
28:06and that I imagine
28:08will be the end
28:08of his race
28:10he'll go again
28:11tomorrow
28:12for Damso Cazzoile
28:12and there we go
28:14that is that rear tow link
28:15that thing that's broken
28:17there on the suspension
28:17that's what controls
28:18the alignment
28:19of that rear tyre
28:20and when it's broken like that
28:21you can't exactly have
28:23a huge amount of control
28:24over the car
28:24we're back on this battle
28:26for 5th place
28:27Stenshawn in the orange car
28:28there
28:28followed closer by Giusti
28:30in the Williams Academy livery
28:32but actually in this lap
28:34it looks like Voisin
28:34who was 2nd in qualifying
28:36yesterday
28:37is closed up to the back
28:38in the number 23
28:39roading car
28:39that we're looking at
28:40right now
28:41Voisin
28:41a brilliant place
28:42in qualifying
28:42we saw last year
28:44that the roadings
28:45were good on their tyres
28:46so potentially
28:47a late race charge
28:48for our 2nd place
28:49in qualifying driver
28:50of Voisin
28:51you talk about
28:51late race charges
28:52we picked him up
28:54at a great time
28:54Tapanen
28:55he's closed right in
28:57on the top 2
28:57has he just been managing
28:59his tyres beautifully
29:00in this race
29:00has Tapanen
29:02judged this race
29:02to perfection
29:03are we about to see him
29:05make a move
29:05on Freddy Slater
29:07on this lap
29:08he's within
29:09half a second
29:10as they hit the brakes
29:11at turn 1 Piers
29:12meanwhile
29:13Giusti in the background
29:14move incoming
29:15possibly
29:16there it is
29:17but he was to the outside
29:19and Giusti
29:21doesn't quite able
29:21to get through
29:22on this lap
29:22not quite
29:23managing to get through
29:24but Giusti's now
29:25going to have
29:25DRS down
29:27towards turn number 4
29:28as well
29:28we've seen drivers
29:28go around the outside
29:29we've seen cutbacks
29:30as well
29:30he's going to get
29:31alongside in the braking zone
29:32using all the road
29:33on the left
29:33to open up the entry
29:34he's ahead at the apex
29:36which I reckon
29:36it means he's going
29:37to have the run
29:38down towards
29:39turn number 6 and 7
29:40we're still side by side
29:41who is bravest
29:42on the brakes
29:43into this corner
29:43we're still side by side
29:44Giusti just about
29:45giving way
29:46which is going to
29:46leave him vulnerable
29:47to Voisin
29:48going down towards
29:49the braking of turn 8
29:50Voisin looks to the outside
29:51looking for the cutback
29:52now is Voisin
29:53he's going to turn
29:53tight on the exit
29:54but that will put him
29:55on the outside
29:56for turns 9 and 10
29:57so this is all going on
29:59in the back end
29:59of the top 10
30:00Voisin
30:01trying around the outside
30:02that's not going to work
30:03again just trying to put
30:04Giusti off the line
30:05so he can get a good exit
30:06again another DRS zone
30:08out of turn 10
30:08down towards turn 11
30:09this is going to be
30:10this is where Voisin
30:11potentially can get through
30:13to have Giusti
30:15going to the inside
30:15Voisin has struggled
30:17to go around the outside
30:18of turn 11
30:18it goes on and on
30:19and on
30:19and that right
30:20side tyres will give in
30:22but no brilliant move
30:23actually
30:24nice to break really late
30:25get it stopped
30:25impressive
30:26I think Giusti's really
30:27struggling there isn't he
30:28because Voisin drove
30:30round the outside of him
30:31and Tramnitz is lining up
30:32next who's come from 13th
30:34Ivan Dominguez by the way
30:35if he can get points
30:36that'll be an excellent drive
30:37he's come from 23rd
30:38on the grid
30:39a little bit further back
30:40to P14
30:41we've got Noel Leon
30:433 seconds behind
30:45the top 10 though
30:46there you can see
30:47some of the big movers
30:48in this race
30:49but Taponen Piers
30:50he's caught this top 2
30:52and he's looking good
30:53for pace
30:54he's looking very good
30:55for pace
30:55but the critical thing
30:56in this race
30:57for the top 3 right now
30:58is Slater needs to hang
31:00on to the DRS
31:01of Solov at the front
31:01of the field
31:02Solov clearly quicker
31:03than Slater at this stage
31:04but if Slater can hold
31:05on to the DRS
31:06it's going to make it
31:07so much harder
31:08for Taponen to get through
31:09either down to turn 1
31:11or down to turn 4
31:12Solov looking for
31:13a record equaling
31:14fourth win
31:15Slater looking to join
31:16the list of the likes
31:17of Oscar Piastri
31:19Isaac Hadjar
31:20and Arvid Limblatt
31:22in debut
31:23on winners
31:24Rob Schwartzman
31:25likewise
31:26and then we've got
31:27Tuukka Taponen
31:28out there
31:29trying to get
31:29his first win
31:31in FIA Formula 3
31:33and get the season
31:34going for himself
31:35and ART Grand Prix
31:36and I tell you what
31:38things might be
31:38about to close up
31:39because Josh Dufek
31:40has come to a stop
31:42unless he can get
31:43that car going again
31:45that's a real shame
31:46for him
31:46oh no
31:47we were just speaking
31:48about him
31:48Ivan Dominguez
31:49has come to a stop
31:50he'd had such a good race
31:51coming through the field
31:52and it's come to a stop this
31:54yeah it looks like
31:55you can see some
31:55front wing damage
31:56from Dominguez there
31:58so potentially involved
31:59in a bit of an altercation
32:00on circuit
32:00before coming to a halt
32:01speculation at the moment
32:02we'll keep you updated
32:03if we get any more
32:04information
32:05but so far
32:06it is Slater
32:08that still has the DRS
32:09at the front of the field
32:09and I think
32:10all three of them
32:11are actually coming together
32:12ever so slightly
32:13but I imagine
32:14we're going to be getting
32:15an interruption
32:16sometime shortly
32:17and Rafa Kamara
32:18from having stalled
32:19on the grid
32:19is up to P15
32:21if there can be
32:22a stoppage in this race
32:24he could have a chance
32:25from coming right
32:25from the back
32:26to ride up
32:27which is something
32:28similar to what we
32:29had Dino
32:30have last year
32:31ok let's have a look
32:31at this please
32:32yeah that's the 22
32:33there of Dominguez
32:34going up the inside
32:34of the 15
32:35of Dufek
32:36Dufek's had a bit
32:37of a tricky race
32:38and unfortunately
32:38I think that's a bit
32:39clumsy in my opinion
32:40from Dufek
32:40he just slid right
32:42into me
32:43do you know what
32:44Joshua
32:45I think I agree
32:46with you on that one
32:47oh it's a slide
32:47oh you didn't see
32:48that from the other
32:49camera angle
32:49yeah Dominguez
32:50just got sideways
32:51at the apex
32:51and effectively
32:52was out of control
32:53at that point
32:53still a little bit
32:55clumsy in my opinion
32:56from Dominguez
32:57there's no blame
32:59that can be laid
32:59on Dufek's shoulders
33:01there
33:01he gave Dominguez
33:02plenty of space
33:03was there secondary
33:04contact as well
33:04with the 26
33:05yes there was
33:07that's where that
33:07front wing damage
33:08came from
33:08so the 26
33:10lucky Segreuth
33:11lucky to get away
33:12with that
33:13yeah so
33:14that's going to be
33:15a safety car
33:16out
33:17and that's going
33:18to close things up
33:19and we are going
33:22to have a furious
33:23fight to the end
33:24if we can get
33:24these two cars
33:25retrieved to a safe
33:27position in time
33:28that's a real shame
33:29for Josh Dufek
33:30he had a great start
33:31to the race
33:32fighting for the lead
33:34but he'll have a chance
33:35to go again tomorrow
33:36and fight four points
33:37don't worry about that
33:39plans on Josh Dufek
33:41and he should take
33:43some confidence
33:44from the performance
33:46he put in
33:46particularly at the start
33:47of the race
33:47yeah no doubt
33:48but the thing
33:49with Dufek
33:50is we saw him
33:51dropping down
33:51the order
33:52and this is a
33:52shining example
33:53as we see
33:54Marin Angelli
33:55who's chatting
33:56with the AX team
33:57after retiring
33:58but Dominguez
34:01is still in the car
34:02I don't think
34:02he's hoping
34:03to get on circuit
34:04once again
34:05but he's staying
34:05in that car
34:06so he can be
34:07towed to a safe place
34:07but just talking
34:08about Dufek
34:09that was a shining
34:10example of
34:11as soon as you start
34:12losing momentum
34:13in a race
34:13and not just lap time
34:14but momentum
34:15in the race
34:15as in you lose
34:16one position
34:17which puts you
34:17on the back foot
34:18for the next one
34:18and you fall
34:19backwards and backwards
34:19in those situations
34:21you really have to
34:21try and stem the flow
34:22and stop the bleeding
34:23because otherwise
34:24situations like
34:25we just saw
34:26with Dominguez
34:27and Dufek
34:28can happen
34:29and fortunately
34:29that all started
34:31for Dufek
34:31when he started
34:32losing positions
34:32sort of in the
34:33mid end of the
34:33top 10
34:34well they join
34:35Ramos
34:36LaCorte
34:37Niall
34:37to get you
34:38with Marin Angelli
34:39out
34:39Rafa Kamara
34:40P15
34:41watch out for that
34:42if we are to get
34:42going
34:43on your timing tower
34:45that could be
34:46an interesting one
34:47to see if he could
34:48get himself back up
34:49Freddy Slater
34:50though
34:50in second
34:51you might only have
34:53one lap
34:53to get this done
34:54mate
34:54ok copy
34:56we heard from Slater
34:59as I said
34:59in the pre-grid interview
35:01he was going to be
35:02going all out
35:03for a race win
35:03we saw him
35:04take the lead
35:05Solov at the moment
35:06seems like he's got
35:07slightly better paces
35:08as Slater was just
35:09hanging on to the DRS
35:11just about
35:11but if we get a
35:13grandstand finish here
35:15I don't think Slater
35:16is going to hold
35:16any punches
35:17some people might think
35:18Freddy Slater
35:1916
35:20making his debut
35:21oh he probably just
35:22want this to just
35:23take us round to the
35:24checkered flag
35:24we both know
35:25Freddy as well as
35:27a lot of the drivers
35:28out there
35:28he won't want that
35:29he won't want to
35:30have a lap to do this
35:31absolutely not
35:32it looks like we
35:33potentially may get
35:34that one more lap
35:35as these cars are
35:36both being retrieved
35:37independently
35:38which means we might
35:39get going either
35:39on the 17th or 18th
35:41but yeah it would be
35:43good to see a final
35:43lap shootout
35:44also don't forget
35:46that Slater is not
35:46going to be in for
35:47the whole championship
35:48so therefore he has
35:48nothing to lose
35:49effectively
35:50whereas Solov
35:50of course is going
35:52for the championship
35:52this season
35:53as a returning driver
35:55he needs a good
35:55result this year
35:56so and Slater will
35:57know that
35:57he'll know that
35:58he can roll the
35:59dice throughout
35:59the inside
36:00and Solov is likely
36:01to get out of the
36:02way not risking
36:03a DNF
36:03Solov is going to
36:05defend this
36:05and we saw
36:07great battling
36:08between them
36:08and he will
36:09defend this
36:10as necessary
36:12in trying to go
36:13for that record
36:14equaling
36:15fourth win
36:15and Taponen
36:16looked very quick
36:17in third as well
36:17watch out for him
36:20a little bit
36:27negative there
36:27from Solov
36:28he's only got
36:29him up to
36:30maybe just one
36:31lap to coax
36:31that Pirelli
36:32tyre out
36:33and he should
36:33also have
36:34logged potentially
36:35that he
36:36I reckon
36:36is faster
36:37at this stage
36:38than Slater
36:38and he probably
36:39could figure that
36:40out
36:40judged on the
36:41fact that Slater
36:42was not able
36:42to get any
36:43closer than
36:43about seven
36:44or eight
36:44tenths
36:44even with
36:45the DRS
36:46so all he
36:46has to do
36:47and that's
36:47the tyre
36:47we're looking
36:48at there
36:48that front
36:48left
36:48it's a tyre
36:49that takes
36:50a lot
36:50of beating
36:50around here
36:51you've got
36:51turn four
36:52a long corner
36:53you've got six
36:54turn eight
36:56when you're
36:56braking and
36:56turning
36:57eleven
36:57sorry
36:58twelve
36:58and thirteen
36:59that's where
37:00that front
37:00left takes
37:00an absolute
37:01battering
37:02those long
37:02corners
37:02where the
37:03temperature
37:03builds
37:03and builds
37:04and builds
37:04and it is
37:05thermal degradation
37:06here at Bahrain
37:07that kills
37:07these Pirelli tyres
37:08going back to
37:09your racing
37:09experience
37:10how does it
37:10feel when you're
37:11in this position
37:11you're fighting
37:12for the lead
37:13like Solov
37:13he felt he
37:15would have
37:15maybe had this
37:15one a bit
37:16under control
37:17and then on
37:18the flip side
37:19Freddy and
37:19Tuka chasing
37:20him down
37:20how does it feel
37:21when then a late
37:22safety car comes
37:23out and it just
37:24changes everything
37:24and you've got
37:25something like this
37:26to contend with
37:27as well
37:27that front left
37:28you can see
37:28it's not nice
37:29and smooth
37:30and shiny
37:31it's not a dull
37:32grey colour
37:32it's got sort of
37:33pitting on it
37:34that's either
37:35it's just
37:36just been
37:36absolutely abused
37:37so far
37:37in this track
37:38temperature
37:39of 50 degrees
37:40safety car is
37:41ending this lap
37:41so we're gonna get
37:42two laps here
37:42let's listen to Slater
37:43reported his front
37:44left is gone
37:46his front left
37:46is gone
37:47please do
37:50so polite
37:52right
37:54grandstand finish
37:55incoming
37:56in the FIA
37:57Formula 3
37:58sprint race
37:59who do you go with
38:01is it gonna be
38:02Nikola Solov
38:02getting a record
38:03equaling fourth win
38:04is it gonna be
38:05Freddy Slater
38:06on his Formula 3
38:07debut
38:07what about
38:08Tuka Taponen
38:09in third place
38:10a great head-to-head
38:12possibly incoming
38:13with the likes
38:14of Taponen
38:14and Stenshawn
38:15ready to play
38:16their part as well
38:17out of the final corner
38:19two laps to sort
38:20this one out
38:21here we go
38:22across the line
38:23Slater has said
38:24he will get on
38:25with this
38:26as we go
38:26across the line
38:28to get
38:28the Bahrain
38:29sprint race
38:30back underway
38:32and Solov
38:33immediately defending
38:34down towards
38:35the first corner
38:36Stenshawn
38:36goes down
38:37the inside
38:38of Tuka Taponen
38:39trying to get
38:40down the gap
38:40that wasn't
38:41quite there
38:42they both
38:43come out
38:43of the second
38:44corner
38:45and Callum
38:45Voisin
38:46now has the run
38:47on Stenshawn
38:48going down
38:49towards turn 4
38:50Callum Voisin
38:51in the black and white
38:52road in
38:52meanwhile
38:53here comes Slater
38:54is this gonna be
38:55a move for the lead
38:56switchback enabled
38:58out of turn 4
38:59and Slater
39:00trying to get the run
39:01into the S's
39:02does he have it
39:03yes
39:03almost contact
39:05between the pair
39:05and Solov
39:06for now
39:07continues to have
39:08the lead
39:08Slater on the outside
39:09going into turn 8
39:10he's not gonna get it
39:11done around the outside
39:12there but gets it
39:12stopped nicely
39:13can he use that
39:14extra front left grip
39:15compared to Solov
39:16to get alongside
39:17into turn 9
39:18Solov defends once again
39:19we know that you can't
39:20go around the outside
39:21of 9 and 10
39:22but he's gonna duck up
39:22the inside
39:23oh Solov was wiser
39:24brilliant heads up
39:25driving from Solov
39:25there but that's
39:26leaving him vulnerable
39:27on the exit
39:28Slater right in the
39:29slipstream now
39:30will probably go
39:31for the DRS
39:32if it's available
39:32this lap
39:33right underneath the rear
39:34wing
39:34can he go around
39:35the outside
39:36that we saw
39:36Voisin do
39:37look at the
39:38pick up on the tyres
39:39as it's the final
39:40couple of laps
39:41these Pirelli tyres
39:42are crying enough
39:43and Tapanen now
39:44right under the rear
39:44wing of Slater as well
39:45this is gonna be
39:46an absolutely brilliant
39:47final lap
39:47here we go
39:48we've got Solov
39:49Slater
39:49Tapanen all there
39:50and Voisin
39:51is up to 4th
39:52and his pace
39:53looked good as well
39:54these 4 ready
39:55to fight it out
39:56only 1 can stand
39:57on the top step
39:58of the podium
39:59only 3 of them
40:00can make it there
40:01which 3 will it be
40:02down to the last
40:03corner we go
40:04for the penultimate
40:05time
40:06and Freddie Slater
40:07filling the mirrors
40:08to say to Solov
40:09I'm here
40:10I'm ready to take
40:11this race lead
40:11away from you
40:12will Solov make
40:13a mistake
40:14out the final
40:15corner
40:15down the star
40:16finish straight
40:17we go
40:17it is Solov
40:18Slater
40:19Tapanen
40:20and Voisin
40:21as we go
40:21across the star
40:22finish line
40:23to start the
40:24final lap
40:25of this sprint
40:26race here
40:26in Bahrain
40:27will we see
40:28anyone make a move
40:29into the first
40:30corner
40:30Tapanen has found
40:32a gap
40:32he's gonna go
40:33down the inside
40:33of Slater
40:34Slater
40:35just about
40:35leaving him
40:36enough space
40:36as they go
40:37up towards
40:38turn 4
40:39on board
40:39we go
40:39with Tapanen
40:40Tapanen
40:41wide on the
40:41exit of 3
40:42that's gonna
40:42put him under
40:43pressure
40:43from Voisin
40:43behind
40:44but Voisin
40:44not quite
40:45close enough
40:45to capitalise
40:46Slater
40:46filling the
40:47need
40:47to go
40:47ever so
40:48slightly
40:48defensive
40:48but
40:49basically
40:49that half
40:50move
40:50from Tapanen
40:51took away
40:52the opportunity
40:52for Slater
40:53to make
40:53advantage
40:54of the DRS
40:55down to
40:55turn 4
40:56as Slater
40:56had to go
40:57ever so
40:57slightly
40:58wide
40:58into the apex
40:59of 1
40:59and that
40:59didn't allow
41:00and the good
41:00exit
41:01towards turn 4
41:02but now
41:02it is Slater
41:03that's still
41:03under the
41:04most pressure
41:04I think
41:05the lead
41:05battle
41:06is potentially
41:07over for now
41:08unless Slater
41:09can pull out
41:09a miracle
41:10in turns 9
41:10and 10
41:11we've got
41:11fighting further
41:12down the field
41:12towards the
41:13back end
41:13of the top 10
41:13Nicholas Solov
41:15is making
41:15use of this
41:16gap
41:16he's handling
41:17the pressure
41:18extremely well
41:19so far
41:20Tuka Tapanen
41:21thought that
41:22was his
41:22opportunity
41:23he went
41:24for it
41:24it didn't
41:24quite pay
41:25off
41:25but
41:26there are
41:26still more
41:27opportunities
41:28to go
41:28this our
41:29final DRS
41:30zone
41:30of this
41:31lap
41:32down towards
41:33turn 11
41:34we go
41:34and
41:35Freddy Slater
41:36is closing
41:37in once more
41:38the gap
41:38has come
41:38down
41:39to 3.5
41:40it's going
41:41to be
41:41all about
41:42that run
41:43down towards
41:44turns 14
41:44and 15
41:45this needs
41:46to be
41:47pinpoint
41:47accurate
41:48now
41:48out of 13
41:49on board
41:50we ride
41:51with Freddy
41:51Slater
41:52Solov
41:52cannot afford
41:53a single
41:53mistake
41:54there
41:55and he
41:55hasn't
41:56made one
41:56it's been
41:57good run
41:57from Nikola
41:58Solov
41:59we ride
41:59on board
42:00with Freddy
42:01Slater
42:01down towards
42:02the final
42:02corner
42:03he thinks
42:03he's seen
42:04a gap
42:04Slater
42:05almost going
42:06down the
42:06inside
42:07there
42:07but
42:07Nikola
42:08Solov
42:08beautiful
42:09control
42:10of a race
42:11and he
42:11is going
42:12to come
42:12across
42:13the line
42:13to take
42:14a record
42:14equaling
42:15fourth win
42:16in FIA
42:17Formula 3
42:18to get
42:19his title
42:20contending
42:21season
42:21underway
42:22Freddy
42:23Slater
42:23take a
42:24bow
42:24he enters
42:25the FIA
42:26Formula 3
42:27championship
42:27and gets
42:28a podium
42:29straight away
42:30and Tuka
42:31Taponen
42:31gets on
42:32the podium
42:33for the first
42:34time
42:34in Formula
42:353
42:35how about
42:36that
42:37for Nikola
42:38Solov
42:38a record
42:39equaling
42:39fourth win
42:40he had
42:41to contend
42:41with a lot
42:42in that race
42:43but he did
42:44it all
42:44to perfection
42:45absolutely
42:46brilliant drive
42:46from Solov
42:47there
42:47he used
42:48experience
42:49he tried
42:49to get
42:50past Slater
42:51a couple
42:51of times
42:51they failed
42:53attempts
42:53earlier on
42:53in the race
42:54but then
42:54when the pace
42:55started to
42:55wear away
42:55from Slater
42:56he pounced
42:57and then did
42:58everything he had
42:59to do
42:59on that safety
43:00car restart
43:01we heard
43:01that he was
43:02struggling
43:02with that
43:02front left
43:03tyre
43:03but managed
43:04it just
43:04perfectly
43:05Slater
43:06pushing hard
43:06but just
43:07couldn't quite
43:08find a way
43:08through
43:08impressive drive
43:10from both
43:10Solov
43:10Slater
43:11and also
43:11Tapanen
43:12and Voicin
43:12in third
43:13and fourth
43:13wow
43:14what a race
43:16what a race
43:17to kick us off
43:18come on
43:26come on
43:27let's go
43:27finally starting
43:29the season
43:30right man
43:30it was difficult
43:32in the last few laps
43:33I think the safety
43:35I was pushing a lot
43:36in the beginning
43:37to pass
43:37and the tyres
43:38were dead
43:39yeah that's
43:41something that
43:41we're going to
43:42be hearing a lot
43:42of this weekend
43:43I think
43:43is the tyres
43:44being dead
43:45towards the end
43:46of the race
43:46but he managed
43:47it just about
43:47enough
43:48potentially
43:48being of course
43:50a returning driver
43:51having raced
43:51in Bahrain
43:52International
43:53in F3
43:53before
43:54he'll know
43:55that the tyres
43:56are very much
43:58crucial
43:58and maybe that
43:59little bit of
43:59back off that he had
44:00after initially
44:01attacking Slater
44:02gave him just
44:03enough tyre
44:03at the end
44:03to fend off
44:04Slater
44:05but still
44:06considering Slater
44:07has very little
44:08experience
44:08he's done very well
44:09the story of
44:10Camaro's race
44:10says he started
44:1112th and finished
44:1212th but that
44:12wasn't the story
44:13of his race
44:14oh my goodness
44:14that's a brilliant
44:15drive actually
44:16it is
44:17some good racing
44:18there mate
44:19good job
44:19ah such a shame
44:21shame that deer
44:23rested over
44:24on the main street
44:25because that's
44:26obviously what
44:26the rule is
44:27but good job
44:29overall
44:29so close
44:33good racing mate
44:34good racing
44:35you can hear
44:37the frustration
44:38in Slater's voice
44:39there
44:39he's not elated
44:40with second place
44:41he's disappointed
44:42he didn't get the win
44:42got the minute
44:43got the winning
44:44mentality
44:45he wanted that win
44:46let's have a look
44:46on board Sharp
44:47was this everyone
44:48in the race
44:48this is going
44:49on to the final lap
44:50or the penultimate lap
44:52over there
44:52okay so Slater
44:52Sharp's had his
44:53front wing repaired
44:55has he
44:55just a little touch
44:58that was on the nose
44:59box so it didn't
45:00actually damage
45:01his front wing
45:02he hit the back
45:03of Stromstead
45:03and then also
45:04let Sagrera
45:05passed
45:06in the process
45:07and then also
45:08was getting
45:09freight train
45:09down towards
45:10turn number four
45:10as
45:11as the
45:12ART
45:13that's the number
45:14nine of James
45:15Water
45:16made his way
45:17through as well
45:17that shows
45:18you know
45:18if you make
45:18a little mistake
45:19it can cost you
45:20more than one
45:21position
45:21Nikola Solov
45:23comes into
45:26Park Verme
45:26that is a record
45:28equaling fourth
45:29win for the
45:30Bulgarian
45:31his title fight
45:32is officially
45:33underway
45:34the Red Bull
45:35Junior
45:36with one of
45:38the most
45:39superb
45:40defensive performances
45:41at the end
45:42there
45:42to hold off
45:44Freddy Slater
45:45drove through
45:46the field
45:47got to the front
45:48and held off
45:50the competition
45:51in Slater
45:52Tapanen
45:53and Boisin
45:54we had
45:55very very
45:56hot conditions
45:57out there
45:57it was a race
45:58of tyre management
45:59and Solov
46:00managed that race
46:02beautifully
46:02to take
46:03his fourth win
46:05in Formula 3
46:06Freddy Slater
46:07how about that
46:08I do not think
46:09that's the last
46:10we will see of him
46:10he's joining us
46:11for round two
46:12but the Formula 1
46:14paddocks
46:14will take notes
46:16of that performance
46:17from that young man
46:18he becomes the
46:19second youngest
46:20podium finisher
46:21in Formula 3
46:22history
46:23Solov
46:24well done to him
46:25as well
46:25and Tuka Tapanen
46:26making it
46:28onto the podium
46:29a great race
46:30there
46:30yeah
46:31Tapanen
46:32actually kind of
46:33went under the
46:34radar
46:34but had a brilliant
46:34result there
46:35and also
46:36let's not forget
46:36Voisin
46:37qualified second
46:38yesterday
46:38made his way up
46:39from 11th
46:40on the grid
46:40up into 4th place
46:41and a really good
46:42pace towards the
46:43end of the race
46:43which bodes well
46:44for that feature
46:45race tomorrow
46:45Christian Ho
46:46making history
46:47for Singapore
46:48in the points
46:49in 8th place
46:49well done to him
46:50Kamara
46:51up to 12th
46:53as well
46:53but
46:53Solov
46:54many people
46:55talked about him
46:55as a title
46:56favourite
46:56and he's proving
46:59why
47:00with that performance
47:02yeah
47:02completely agree
47:03Chris
47:03he's definitely
47:03a title favourite
47:04of course
47:05got the experience
47:05from last year
47:06but he's going to be
47:07looking at the likes
47:07of Kamara
47:08and thinking
47:08that's going to be
47:09hard to beat
47:10because Kamara
47:11had the pace
47:11yesterday
47:12and considering
47:13that Kamara
47:13was behind
47:14the medical car
47:15halfway around
47:15the first lap
47:16and getting up
47:17into 12th place
47:18only a couple
47:19of positions
47:19behind his teammates
47:20brilliant brilliant
47:21drive from him
47:22but this is the man
47:23that's going to
47:23take all of the
47:24attention today
47:25and rightly so
47:26brilliant drive
47:26he said his front
47:27left tyre was dead
47:28it wasn't quite dead
47:29there was a little
47:30heartbeat there
47:31just enough
47:31to get him over
47:32the line
47:32and take that
47:33number one
47:33board that he's
47:34standing right next to
47:35Bahrain always
47:37provides drama
47:38storylines
47:39and the story
47:40today
47:40is Nikola Solov
47:42goes
47:42to the top
47:44of the record
47:44books
47:45my life be like
47:46my life be like
47:51yeah
