00:32:30currently under way for Holy Week ahead of Easter Sunday.
00:32:34The President signed a Holy Week proclamation, filmed a special presidential video message,
00:32:40and will be hosting a pre-Easter dinner tomorrow night and a White House staff Easter worship
00:32:45service on Thursday.
00:32:47The President and the First Lady are honored to continue the tradition of the White House
00:32:51Easter egg roll, which will take place on the South Lawn next Monday.
00:32:55In other news, President Trump is turning America into a manufacturing superpower again.
00:33:00Yesterday, there was a monumental announcement by NVIDIA, one of the largest companies in
00:33:06the world.
00:33:07This is just the latest example.
00:33:09For the first time ever, chip-making giant NVIDIA will produce AI supercomputers entirely
00:33:16in the United States, as part of its pledge to produce $50 billion worth of AI infrastructure
00:33:21in our country over the next four years.
00:33:24With their manufacturing partners, they have commissioned more than a million square feet
00:33:28of manufacturing space to build and test NVIDIA Blackwell chips in the great state of Arizona
00:33:34and AI supercomputers in the great state of Texas.
00:33:39NVIDIA's founder and CEO Jensen Huang touted how the engines of the world's AI infrastructure
00:33:45are being built in the United States for the first time.
00:33:49This is the Trump effect.
00:33:51This follows trillions in other U.S. investments announced already, including $500 billion from
00:33:56Apple in U.S.-based manufacturing and training, $100 billion from TSMC and U.S.-based chips
00:34:02manufacturing, and the $500 billion private investment led by OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank
00:34:09in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
00:34:11Under President Trump, we're going to produce the cars, the ships, the chips, the airplanes,
00:34:16minerals, and medicines that we need right here in America at the hands of American workers.
00:34:22On the border, President Trump continues to break records and protect our homeland.
00:34:27According to CBP, Border Patrol apprehensions along the southwest border for the entire month
00:34:32of March 2025 were lower than the first two days of March 2024 under Joe Biden.
00:34:39Incredible law enforcement officers are arresting violent illegal aliens from American communities
00:34:44every day.
00:34:45Here are a few examples from the latest ICE report which I received this morning.
00:34:49ICE Los Angeles arrested a 54-year-old citizen of Mexico convicted of rape by threat, sodomy
00:34:55with a person under 14 years, and kidnapping in San Jose, California.
00:35:00ICE Houston has arrested a 23-year-old citizen of Mexico convicted of predatory criminal sexual
00:35:05assault of a child in Cook County, Illinois.
00:35:09ICE Houston arrested a 64-year-old citizen of Honduras convicted of murder in Los Angeles
00:35:15County, California.
00:35:17ICE Chicago arrested a 49-year-old citizen of Guatemala convicted of assault and arson in
00:35:23Prince Williams, Virginia, not far from here.
00:35:26ICE Denver arrested a 36-year-old citizen of Mexico who is registered as a sex offender
00:35:32and has been convicted of sexual assault of a child in Lake County, Colorado.
00:35:37ICE Baltimore arrested a 50-year-old citizen of China convicted of sex trafficking in Bel
00:35:42Air, Maryland.
00:35:43ICE Boston arrested a 46-year-old citizen of Jamaica convicted of three counts of rape
00:35:49of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 in Boston, Massachusetts.
00:35:56President Trump and our administration will not rest until every single violent illegal alien
00:36:01is removed from our country.
00:36:04The safety of the American people is too important to settle for anything less.
00:36:09On that note, the Democrat and media outrage over the deportation of Abrego Garcia, an MS-13
00:36:15El Salvadorian illegal alien criminal who is hiding in Maryland has been nothing short of despicable.
00:36:22Based on the sensationalism of many of the people in this room, you would think we deported a candidate
00:36:27for father of the year.
00:36:28That's because, unfortunately, many in this country care more about this quote-unquote Maryland father,
00:36:35illegal alien MS-13 gang member, than a Maryland mother and an American citizen who was brutally murdered
00:36:41at the hands of a different illegal alien.
00:36:44Of course, I am referring to Rachel Morin.
00:36:47And if you didn't see yesterday, a Maryland jury found illegal alien Victor Antonio Martinez Hernandez
00:36:53guilty of murdering Rachel Morin in August of 2023.
00:36:58She was a 37-year-old mother of five who was jogging in an otherwise safe community northeast
00:37:03of Baltimore when this monster ambushed, strangled, and beat her to death before stuffing her brutalized
00:37:08body in a tunnel drain.
00:37:11The Morin family finally got justice yesterday, but they will never get Rachel back.
00:37:16Our hearts go out to Rachel's family, her five children, and her mother, Patty, who has
00:37:21suffered the unimaginable loss of her daughter.
00:37:24In case you missed it last week, President Trump signed a national security presidential
00:37:28memorandum directing federal agencies administering federal land on the border to make land available
00:37:34to the Defense Department in a new national defense area.
00:37:39This followed the President's day one executive order, committing his administration to marshal
00:37:43all available resources and authorities to stop the unprecedented flood of illegal aliens
00:37:48into our country and to obtain complete operational control of the borders of the United States
00:37:54of America.
00:37:55Once again, the President is fulfilling another key promise.
00:37:59This new national defense area spans more than 170 miles across our border in New Mexico.
00:38:04But in the coming weeks, this administration will add more than 90 miles in the state of
00:38:09Texas.
00:38:10This national defense area will enhance our ability to detect, interdict, and prosecute
00:38:15the illegal aliens, criminal gangs, and terrorists who were able to invade our country without
00:38:19consequence for the past four years under the Biden administration.
00:38:24It will also bolster our defenses against fentanyl and other dangerous narcotics that have been
00:38:29poisoning our communities.
00:38:30With all of this work being done to make America great again, we continue to see a positive
00:38:35response from the American public.
00:38:36A brand-new poll published from the Daily Mail and JL Partners this morning found that
00:38:41President Trump's approval rating is at an all-time high.
00:38:44That's because the President is working tirelessly to keep his promises to the American people,
00:38:48as I just saw him doing today in the Oval Office.
00:38:51We have a reporter in our new media seat today, Matthew Foldy.
00:38:54I like your boots, Matt, who is the editor-in-chief of The Washington Reporter.
00:38:59Washington Reporter is a new, fast-growing outlet that breaks stories about legislation
00:39:02and interviews leaders in Congress and across the administration.
00:39:07The publication's readership includes the highest levels of business in government.
00:39:11And with that, please kick us off, Matt.
00:39:13And we've interviewed you as well.
00:39:14So, Caroline, thanks so much for having me here on behalf of our readership and the billions
00:39:19of Americans, who I think appreciate what you're doing with the new media seat here and making
00:39:24this a more accessible briefing room.
00:39:25I'm curious, with Harvard, we saw the Trump administration today announced it's cutting
00:39:29around $2 billion, or freezing $2 billion in funds to Harvard because the campus has serious
00:39:35problems with violence and with anti-Semitism.
00:39:38We saw President Obama, former President Obama, side with Harvard, which rejected the Trump administration's
00:39:44demands.
00:39:45I'm curious, where does the administration see this going with Harvard and with other colleges
00:39:49and universities in America that are refusing to reform in the wake of the sort of craziness
00:39:54that we've seen take over some of them?
00:39:56Thank you, Matt, for being here, and thanks for the question.
00:39:58When it comes to Harvard, the President's position on this is grounded in common sense, in the
00:40:04basic principle that Jewish American students, or students of any faith, should not be illegally
00:40:10harassed and targeted on our nation's college campuses.
00:40:13And we unfortunately saw that illegal discrimination take place on the campus of Harvard.
00:40:19There are countless examples to prove it, particularly with the stunning confession by then-Harvard
00:40:25President Claudine Gay, who said that bullying and harassment depended on the context.
00:40:32The President at that time made it clear to the American public he was not going to tolerate
00:40:36illegal harassment and anti-Semitism taking place in violations of federal law.
00:40:41So the President made it clear to Harvard, follow federal law, no longer break Title VI, which
00:40:45was passed by Congress to ensure no student can be discriminated against on the basis of
00:40:50race, and you will receive federal funding.
00:40:53Unfortunately, Harvard has not taken the President or the administration's demands seriously.
00:40:59All the President is asking, don't break federal law and then you can have your federal funding.
00:41:03I think the President is also begging a good question.
00:41:07More than $2 billion out the door to Harvard when they have a more than $50 billion endowment.
00:41:12Why are the American taxpayers subsidizing a university that has billions of dollars in
00:41:17the bank already?
00:41:18And we certainly should not be funding a place where such grave anti-Semitism exists.
00:41:22And I'm curious, you just mentioned Rachel Morin, and I'm a Maryland man, and I think most
00:41:27Marylanders appreciate what you were saying today.
00:41:30We've seen that Chris Van Hollen, who was Rachel Morin's senator, basically threatening
00:41:37to fly to El Salvador to press for the release of someone who was in America illegally.
00:41:41What, and not as much sort of from him about Rachel Morin's horrific murder and the verdict
00:41:48that was, I think, rightly reached yesterday, what does the administration think about the
00:41:52priorities we're seeing from Senate Democrats in terms of illegal immigrants instead of
00:41:57the work that agencies like ICE and DHS are doing with the Trump administration?
00:42:02It's mind-boggling, the priorities of the modern-day Democrat Party.
00:42:07I think it's atrocious that you have Democrats in Congress on Capitol Hill who swear an oath
00:42:13to protect their constituents and to serve them in Washington, D.C., spending more time
00:42:19defending illegal immigrant gang members than their own constituents and law-abiding American
00:42:25citizens like Rachel Morin.
00:42:27And I saw the President personally on the campaign trail, and I continue to see him in his role
00:42:32as President of the United States, put American families first, reach out to the victims, the
00:42:38families of victims, at the hands of illegal immigrant crime, and frankly, the actions and
00:42:42the words of the Democrat Party proved they could not care less about the American public.
00:42:46And maybe if they did, they'd see a bit higher approval ratings right now.
00:42:50Thanks for being here with us today.
00:42:51Peter.
00:42:52Thank you, Caroline.
00:42:53To follow up on something that you just said, why do Ivy League schools get so much federal funding?
00:42:59It's a very good question.
00:43:01And it's a question the President has obviously raised in his discussions and negotiations
00:43:05with not just Harvard, but also Columbia and many other Ivy League institutions.
00:43:10We have the anti-Semitism task force, which the President promised and delivered on.
00:43:16The anti-Semitism task force is across the government, representatives from various federal
00:43:21agencies who meet on a weekly basis to discuss the question that you just raised.
00:43:25And I think a lot of Americans are wondering why their tax dollars are going to these universities
00:43:30when they are not only indoctrinating our nation's students, but also allowing such egregious, illegal behavior to occur.
00:43:36To follow up on immigration, deporting American citizens to Central American prisons, is it
00:43:44legal or do you need to change the law to do it?
00:43:47Well, it's another question that the President has raised.
00:43:50It's a legal question that the President is looking into.
00:43:53And he talked about this yesterday with his meeting with President Bukele in the Oval Office.
00:43:57He would only consider this, if legal, for Americans who are the most violent, egregious, repeat offenders of crime,
00:44:06who nobody in this room wants living in their communities.
00:44:10And then there's this CHNV thing.
00:44:13President Biden let more than 530,000 people from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela into the U.S. with this CHNV program.
00:44:22He did it with the stroke of a pen.
00:44:25And now a judge will not let President Trump undo it with the stroke of a pen.
00:44:30So are you guys going to give all 530,000-plus people individual deportation hearings,
00:44:37or are you just going to try to deport them?
00:44:41I spoke to White House Counsel's Office about this this morning, because obviously another rogue district court judge
00:44:46is trying to block the administration's mass deportation efforts with this latest injunction.
00:44:51We will fight this in the court of law, and we will ensure that every individual who illegally entered our country
00:44:58and was really taken advantage of by the previous administration because they abused the parole system in this country
00:45:05to fast-track legal status, as they said, for these illegal immigrants.
00:45:12And they completely abused our legal system.
00:45:16Many of these paroled individuals were then given temporary protective status,
00:45:21which the intention of that TPS was only supposed to be used in times of war or storm or destruction
00:45:28in the home countries of these migrants.
00:45:30It was completely abused.
00:45:32These migrants came here for economic reasons.
00:45:34And they illegally entered our country, and the President is not going to tolerate that.
00:45:39And so we will continue to focus on deporting as many individuals as we can.
00:45:44Jennifer.
00:45:45One on tariffs and one on Russia.
00:45:47Can you give us any sort of an update on which deals are in hand or are close,
00:45:51which countries are reaching a deal on tariffs?
00:45:54And then on Russia, can you give us an update on what the agreement was with Russia?
00:45:57The President yesterday said that he thinks we'll be seeing some very good deals very soon.
00:46:01Can you talk a little bit about what Russia agreed to?
00:46:03Ms. Sure.
00:46:04I don't want to get ahead of our United States Trade Ambassador and Secretary of Commerce,
00:46:08the Secretary of Treasury, all the great individuals who are working incredibly hard to cut these good trade deals.
00:46:14And the President is deeply involved in this as well.
00:46:16He has made it clear to his trade team he wants to personally sign off on all of these deals too.
00:46:21And so I don't want to get ahead of them on announcements.
00:46:23But obviously, as you've heard from numerous administration officials,
00:46:26there have been many talks with countries.
00:46:29We've had more than 15 deals, pieces of paper put on the table,
00:46:33proposals that are actively being considered.
00:46:35And as we've said consistently, more than 75 countries have reached out.
00:46:39So there's a lot of work to do.
00:46:40We very much understand that.
00:46:42But we do believe that we can announce some deals very soon.
00:46:45And then on Russia, can you say, did Russia agree to anything with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff?
00:46:50I don't want to get ahead of those negotiations as well.
00:46:54What I can tell you is that they were a productive conversation was had.
00:46:58As the presidential envoy Steve Witkoff said last night,
00:47:02he believes that Russia wants to end this war, and the President believes that as well.
00:47:06There is incentive for Russia to end this war.
00:47:09And perhaps that could be economic partnerships with the United States,
00:47:13but we need to see a ceasefire first.
00:47:15And the President and the presidential envoy Witkoff made that very clear to the Russians.
00:47:19Gabe.
00:47:20The Press.
00:47:21Thank you, Caroline.
00:47:22And I also want to thank your press office for releasing that information that you cited up there
00:47:27regarding the ICE arrests over the last couple of days.
00:47:31And I have them right here.
00:47:33But what I might ask is why not release the same information for those who were deported to El Salvador?
00:47:39Well, first of all, the information was released by the Department of Homeland Security.
00:47:44The individuals on the flights to El Salvador are foreign terrorists,
00:47:48and those are counterterrorism operations.
00:47:50They are much different than the arrests and final order of removals that you see on a day-to-day basis
00:47:55that law enforcement agents are conducting around the country.
00:47:57That information was not, to that detail, was not released by the HF site.
00:48:01I just told you the reason.
00:48:03It was a counterterrorism operation, a deportation of foreign terrorists,
00:48:07not illegal criminals who have been convicted of heinous crimes living in our American communities.
00:48:12Two different things.
00:48:13Foreign terrorists, illegal immigrant criminal.
00:48:15Two different things.
00:48:16Two different definitions.
00:48:17You should look them up.
00:48:18Christian, go ahead.
00:48:19Yeah.
00:48:20Thanks, Caroline.
00:48:21Does the President support raising the corporate tax rate
00:48:24to pay for all these other tax cuts he wants to see move through Congress?
00:48:28Look, I've seen this idea proposed.
00:48:30I've heard this idea discussed.
00:48:32But I don't believe the President has made a determination on whether he supports it or not.
00:48:36And then, secondly, do you have any information on the status of Eden Alexander?
00:48:40Hamas says they lost contact with the unit guarding him following an Israeli airstrike earlier today.
00:48:47I don't have updates.
00:48:48I have not seen that report.
00:48:49But I can certainly check in with our National Security Council.
00:48:52I have spoken to the President about Eden Alexander.
00:48:54And he's made it very clear to our national security team that finding him is a priority.
00:48:58But unfortunately, I don't have any updates to share.
00:49:01But it's a very important matter.
00:49:02And certainly, we can check in.
00:49:03Sure.
00:49:04Hi.
00:49:05How concerned is the President that a federal judge could hold a Trump administration official in contempt of court for defying deportation orders?
00:49:16We are complying with all court orders.
00:49:19So I see what you're trying to do there with that question.
00:49:21But we're very confident that every action taken by this administration is within the confines of the law.
00:49:26And we continue to comply with the court's orders.
00:49:29And you have seen that.
00:49:30And the President made that clear yesterday in the Oval Office with President Bukele.
00:49:35Sure.
00:49:36Thanks, Caroline.
00:49:37Could you, just going back to El Salvador, could you just explain to us a little bit more about the legal basis on which you may be able to send U.S. citizens to prison there?
00:49:48I know you said that President Trump is looking at it.
00:49:51But can you explain to us a little bit more about how that might be possible?
00:49:54We're looking at it.
00:49:55And when I have more for you to share, I certainly will.
00:49:58Sure.
00:49:59Okay.
00:50:00Still going off the El Salvador questions.
00:50:02Yesterday in the Oval Office, administration officials made it very clear that El Salvador is responsible for Mr. Obrado Garcia.
00:50:09Yet El Salvador's President said we are not going to do anything with him.
00:50:13So my question is who is responsible for this man and where he's going to end up?
00:50:17Well, no.
00:50:18First of all, President Bukele said that he is not going to smuggle a foreign terrorist back into the United States of America, as many in this room in the Democrat Party seemingly want him to do.
00:50:30Abrego Garcia was a foreign terrorist.
00:50:33He is an MS-13 gang member.
00:50:36He was engaged in human trafficking.
00:50:38He illegally came into our country.
00:50:41And so deporting him back to El Salvador was always going to be the end result.
00:50:46There is never going to be a world in which this is an individual who is going to live a peaceful life in Maryland because he is a foreign terrorist and MS-13 gang member.
00:50:55Not only have we confirmed that, President Bukele yesterday in the Oval Office confirmed that as well.
00:51:01So he went back to his home country where he will face consequences for his gang affiliation and his engagement in human trafficking.
00:51:10I'm not sure what is so difficult about this for everyone in the media to understand.
00:51:14And it's appalling, truly appalling that there has been so much time covering this alleged human trafficker and this gang member, MS-13 gang member.
00:51:26It's truly striking to me.
00:51:29Karen.
00:51:30Thank you, Caroline.
00:51:31The President was posting on Truth Social today about helping American farmers.
00:51:34And last week, in his Cabinet meeting, he was talking about a plan to work with farmers to retain workers who are in the U.S. illegally, provided that they leave and then come back through what he said would be a legal process.
00:51:45Can you get details on what that would look like, how many workers he is talking about, how long a plan like that would take to implement and a timeline for more details on getting this actually to implementation?
00:51:57I can check in with our immigration and our policy team
00:52:00and get you some more details on that, Karen.
00:52:01And is this something he wants to roll out soon?
00:52:05I mean, he was talking back and forth with Secretary Rollins.
00:52:07Right.
00:52:07This is kind of imminent that he wants to do this.
00:52:10Yeah, look, the President is in constant communication
00:52:12with all of his Cabinet secretaries,
00:52:14particularly Secretary Rollins,
00:52:15who has the backs of American farmers and ranchers.
00:52:19It's something that he spoke about with her
00:52:21in the front of all the cameras in the Cabinet room.
00:52:23But I'll check in with not only our immigration team,
00:52:25but also with USDA, and we'll get you an answer.
00:52:28Jonathan.
00:52:29The Press, the President has long said
00:52:33that it would be an abuse of power
00:52:35for a President to direct prosecutors to investigate him.
00:52:40Last week, President Trump explicitly directed
00:52:43the Justice Department to scrutinize Chris Krebs
00:52:46to see if it can find any evidence of criminal wrongdoing.
00:52:50How is that not an abuse of power
00:52:54to direct the Justice Department
00:52:56to look into an individual, a named individual?
00:52:58Look, the President signed that executive order.
00:53:01It's the position of the President in this White House
00:53:03that it's well within his authority to do it.
00:53:05Otherwise, he wouldn't have signed it.
00:53:07And he signed it, and that's his policy.
00:53:09Jeff, how are you doing?
00:53:10The Press, a follow-up on Harvard.
00:53:13The President floated on true social, I believe,
00:53:16the possibility of removing tax-exempt status.
00:53:19How serious is that threat
00:53:20that another university is considering?
00:53:22And then a follow-up question on foreign policy.
00:53:25What are your — can you give us an update
00:53:27on what the President hopes to come
00:53:29from the next round of talks with Iran?
00:53:30Sure.
00:53:31First, when it comes to Harvard, as I said,
00:53:34the President has been quite clear
00:53:35they must follow federal law.
00:53:36He also wants to see Harvard apologize,
00:53:39and Harvard should apologize
00:53:40for the egregious anti-Semitism
00:53:43that took place on their college campus
00:53:45against Jewish American students.
00:53:47There were professors who said
00:53:50that he had engaged in discriminatory behavior
00:53:53against Jewish students.
00:53:54Of course, you had the former president
00:53:56of the university saying,
00:53:57bullying and harassment depends on the context.
00:54:00You also had an encampment on Harvard Yard
00:54:03that we all saw play out before the cameras.
00:54:06The university failed to impose formal discipline
00:54:08on any students for this anti-Semitic conduct violations,
00:54:11including the occupation of a campus building
00:54:13and the disruption of classes with bullhorns.
00:54:15The President believes Harvard should apologize
00:54:17to its Jewish American students
00:54:19for allowing such egregious behavior.
00:54:21As for the tax-exempt status,
00:54:22I would defer you to the IRS for any updates.
00:54:24I do want to answer your question on Iran, of course.
00:54:27The maximum pressure campaign on Iran continues,
00:54:29but as you know, the President has made it clear
00:54:31he wants to see dialogue and discussion with Iran
00:54:34while making his directive about Iran
00:54:36never being able to obtain a nuclear weapon quite clear.
00:54:40And the President spoke to the Sultan of Oman today
00:54:43who helped facilitate these talks.
00:54:44I have a readout for all of you.
00:54:46He held a call with the Sultan of Oman today,
00:54:49and he thanked him for hosting the first direct meeting
00:54:52between the United States and Iran
00:54:53and emphasized the need for Iran
00:54:55to end its nuclear program through negotiations.
00:54:58The two leaders also discussed the United States'
00:55:00ongoing operations against the Houthis
00:55:02and emphasized that the Houthis will pay a severe price
00:55:05until they end their attacks on maritime traffic
00:55:08in the Red Sea.
00:55:09As you know, an additional negotiation
00:55:11between Steve Whitcoff and Iran's representative
00:55:14has been scheduled for Saturday.
00:55:16And since these are ongoing negotiations,
00:55:18I have nothing more to add on that.
00:55:19Can I take a look at Iran?
00:55:20Ms. Sure.
00:55:21The Press.
00:55:21Oh, thank you, Caroline.
00:55:22When you said that the President said
00:55:24that Iran will never have nuclear weapons,
00:55:27is the focus on dismantling the entire nuclear program
00:55:32or just restricting enriched uranium
00:55:35or the missile program?
00:55:37Ms. The President does not want to see Iran
00:55:39have a nuclear program.
00:55:40He does not want Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
00:55:44He's been very clear about this.
00:55:45Shelby.
00:55:45The Press.
00:55:46Thanks, Caroline.
00:55:46Ms. Shelby, you have a seat today.
00:55:47I know. Stole it.
00:55:48Glad to see it.
00:55:49Two quick ones on TikTok.
00:55:51First, is the President expecting
00:55:53to extend the TikTok ban that's now June 19th
00:55:55if China doesn't come to the table in time?
00:55:58Well, June 19th is a long ways away, obviously.
00:56:00I think it's two months away.
00:56:02Two months is a long time.
00:56:03And the Trump administration, as you have all seen,
00:56:05we work at Trump's feet around here.
00:56:06We get a lot done.
00:56:07So definitely don't want to get ahead.
00:56:09The Vice President continues to lead these negotiations
00:56:11and talks.
00:56:12The President's involved, and they're ongoing.
00:56:13And then, the President previously said
00:56:15he'd consider reducing tariffs on China
00:56:18in order to get a TikTok deal done.
00:56:20Is that option still on the table?
00:56:22Look, the President has made his position on China quite clear,
00:56:26although I do have an additional statement
00:56:28that he just shared with me in the Oval Office.
00:56:31The ball is in China's court.
00:56:33China needs to make a deal with us.
00:56:35We don't have to make a deal with them.
00:56:37There's no difference between China and any other country,
00:56:40except they are much larger.
00:56:42And China wants what we have,
00:56:44what every country wants,
00:56:46what we have,
00:56:47the American consumer.
00:56:49Or to put it another way,
00:56:50they need our money.
00:56:51So the President, again,
00:56:52has made it quite clear
00:56:53that he's open to a deal with China,
00:56:55but China needs to make a deal
00:56:56with the United States of America.
00:56:58Sure.
00:56:59On tariffs.
00:57:00Yesterday in the Oval Office...
00:57:01Which outlet are you with?
00:57:02The Canadian Public Broadcaster.
00:57:04Oh, nice to see you.
00:57:05Thank you.
00:57:05Yesterday in the Oval Office,
00:57:07President Trump suggested
00:57:08that there could be some help for automakers.
00:57:10I'm wondering what that looks like.
00:57:12Is it tariff relief on the 25% tariffs
00:57:15that are in place right now,
00:57:16or the new tariffs that are coming up in May on auto parts?
00:57:19And a second on Canada, if I may.
00:57:22President Trump's tone
00:57:23when it comes to Canada-U.S. relations.
00:57:25Canadians have noticed it's shifted a bit
00:57:27in the past few weeks.
00:57:29Ever since the election campaign started,
00:57:31he stopped talking about Canada
00:57:32becoming the 51st state, at least publicly.
00:57:35I'm wondering if that's on purpose and why.
00:57:37I would reject the President's position
00:57:39on Canada has shifted.
00:57:41Perhaps he just hasn't been asked about Canada
00:57:43by questions from this group in the Oval Office
00:57:45when they see him almost every day.
00:57:47But the President still maintains his position on Canada.
00:57:50The United States has been subsidizing
00:57:51Canada's national defense.
00:57:53And he believes that Canadians would benefit greatly
00:57:55from becoming the 51st state
00:57:57of the United States of America.
00:57:59As for autos and auto parts,
00:58:01I don't have anything to read out for you there.
00:58:02But I think the point the President was making
00:58:04is flexibility.
00:58:05And he has flexibility
00:58:07when it comes to negotiations and talks.
00:58:09But ultimately, his goal
00:58:10in his fair trade deals
00:58:13that he is pursuing with many countries
00:58:15around the world
00:58:15is to put the American worker first.
00:58:18And we had automakers
00:58:20and autoworkers here
00:58:22at the White House
00:58:23on Liberation Day
00:58:24who believe in this President
00:58:26and his negotiating ability
00:58:28to put them first
00:58:29and to bring those jobs
00:58:30back to the United States of America.
00:58:32and the President has been very clear about that
00:58:33in his conversations
00:58:34with the automakers as well.
00:58:36Go ahead, Caroline.
00:58:37Deanna, go ahead.
00:58:38Thanks, Caroline.
00:58:39One on Ukraine
00:58:40and one on China.
00:58:41On Ukraine,
00:58:42this past weekend,
00:58:43Zelenskyy offered an invitation
00:58:45to President Trump
00:58:46extending an offer
00:58:47for him to visit Ukraine.
00:58:49Just wondering
00:58:49if there's any update on that.
00:58:51Has Trump seen that offer
00:58:52and what he's thinking about?
00:58:53I don't know.
00:58:54Actually,
00:58:55I haven't talked to the President
00:58:56about that
00:58:57or if he saw Zelenskyy's offer.
00:58:59I'm sure he did.
00:58:59I haven't spoken to him about it.
00:59:01I can ask him what he thinks.
00:59:03I certainly don't have any plans
00:59:04to share on a potential trip
00:59:06to Ukraine, though.
00:59:06And then on China,
00:59:08this last week,
00:59:09Chinese officials
00:59:10were posting videos
00:59:11on social media sites
00:59:14depicting Trump,
00:59:16J.D. Vance,
00:59:16Elon Musk
00:59:17in AI-generated videos
00:59:19working in factories
00:59:20putting together Nike shoes
00:59:23and iPhones
00:59:24and products like that.
00:59:26Does the White House,
00:59:27have they seen these videos?
00:59:28Do you guys have a response to that?
00:59:30I have seen the videos.
00:59:31I'm not sure who made the videos
00:59:33or if we can verify the authenticity.
00:59:35But whoever made it
00:59:36clearly does not see
00:59:38the potential
00:59:38of the American worker,
00:59:40the American workforce.
00:59:41The President believes
00:59:42in the American people
00:59:43and he knows that we have
00:59:44the best,
00:59:45not only consumer base
00:59:46in the world,
00:59:47but also the best workforce
00:59:48in the world.
00:59:49And that's why he's so focused
00:59:50on bringing investments home
00:59:51and shoring up
00:59:53our critical supply chains
00:59:54and bolstering
00:59:55our manufacturing here as well.
00:59:57Brett.
00:59:57Thanks, Caroline.
00:59:58Would the President
00:59:59support a ban
01:00:00on members of Congress
01:00:01trading stocks?
01:00:03I'm certain that's something
01:00:05the President
01:00:05would be interested
01:00:06in looking at
01:00:06and I can ask him
01:00:07if he would support
01:00:08such a bill.
01:00:09Sure.
01:00:10Yes.
01:00:11I have a question
01:00:12about the President's
01:00:12post from this morning
01:00:13on farmers.
01:00:14He asked farmers
01:00:15to be patient
01:00:16and just hold on.
01:00:17But a lot of farmers
01:00:19that I've talked to
01:00:19in the last week or so
01:00:20have said, you know,
01:00:21they're in the middle
01:00:21of spring planting season
01:00:22and that a trade war
01:00:24makes everything
01:00:24sort of up in the air.
01:00:27What would his message
01:00:28to them be?
01:00:29And also,
01:00:30is there anything
01:00:30specifically planned
01:00:31to provide relief
01:00:33like in President Trump's
01:00:34last term?
01:00:35Yes.
01:00:35Well, relief
01:00:36is being considered.
01:00:37The Secretary of Agriculture,
01:00:38I know,
01:00:38has spoken to the President
01:00:39about that
01:00:40and, again,
01:00:41it's being considered.
01:00:42And as for the President's
01:00:43message to the farmers,
01:00:44he put it out himself.
01:00:45He could speak for himself
01:00:46much better
01:00:47than I can speak for him.
01:00:48and so I would just direct
01:00:49you to the statement
01:00:50he had telling the farmers
01:00:52again and reiterating
01:00:53his support for them
01:00:54and that he has their backs,
01:00:55which he certainly does.
01:00:57Kelly, in the back.
01:00:58Thanks, Caroline.
01:00:59Two questions.
01:01:01The first one,
01:01:02a Georgia man
01:01:02was just arrested
01:01:03over alleged threats
01:01:04to kill Director
01:01:05of National Intelligence
01:01:06Tulsi Gabbard.
01:01:07Reportedly,
01:01:08there is now increased
01:01:08security around
01:01:09the FBI Deputy Director.
01:01:11Can you talk about
01:01:12the level of threats
01:01:12against various
01:01:13administration officials
01:01:14and then a second one
01:01:15on Biden?
01:01:15I'm sorry to hear that.
01:01:17I had not seen that report.
01:01:19It's very unfortunately
01:01:20and obviously
01:01:20the White House,
01:01:21the President,
01:01:22and the entire administration
01:01:23condemn any threats
01:01:24of violence
01:01:25against any administration
01:01:27officials
01:01:27or public officials
01:01:28on both sides
01:01:29of the aisle
01:01:30here in Washington, D.C.
01:01:31It shouldn't be tolerated
01:01:32and we commend
01:01:33the local law enforcement
01:01:35agencies
01:01:35for arresting this individual.
01:01:36But on President Biden,
01:01:37he's former President Biden.
01:01:39He's set to deliver
01:01:40his first major speech
01:01:42since leaving office tonight.
01:01:43He plans to talk about
01:01:46what I'm told
01:01:47will be Social Security
01:01:49under the current
01:01:50administration,
01:01:51closing of offices,
01:01:52longer wait times,
01:01:53harder for seniors
01:01:54and people with disabilities
01:01:55to access earned benefits
01:01:57is what Democrats
01:01:58have been saying today.
01:01:59I wanted to get
01:02:00the President's response
01:02:01or if he plans
01:02:02to respond to this
01:02:03and comments
01:02:04on what Democrats
01:02:05are calling cuts
01:02:05to Social Security.
01:02:06My first reaction
01:02:08when seeing
01:02:08former President Biden
01:02:09was speaking tonight
01:02:10was I'm shocked
01:02:12that he is speaking
01:02:13at nighttime.
01:02:14I have thought
01:02:14his bedtime
01:02:15was much earlier
01:02:15than his speech tonight.
01:02:17I understand
01:02:18the topic of his speech
01:02:19will be Social Security.
01:02:21Let me make it very clear
01:02:22ahead of former
01:02:23President Biden's remarks.
01:02:25The President,
01:02:26this President,
01:02:27President Trump,
01:02:28is absolutely certain
01:02:31about protecting
01:02:32Social Security benefits
01:02:33for law-abiding,
01:02:35tax-paying American
01:02:36citizens and seniors
01:02:37who have paid
01:02:38into this program.
01:02:39He will always
01:02:40protect that program.
01:02:41He campaigned on it,
01:02:42he protected it
01:02:42in his first term,
01:02:43and he's back again
01:02:44to continue protecting it.
01:02:46On the topic
01:02:47of Social Security,
01:02:47I have some news
01:02:48before I let you all go.
01:02:49Later this afternoon,
01:02:50the President
01:02:51will be signing
01:02:52a Presidential Memorandum
01:02:54aimed at stopping
01:02:55illegal aliens
01:02:56and other ineligible people
01:02:58from obtaining
01:02:58Social Security Act benefits.
01:03:01The memorandum
01:03:01will direct
01:03:02the administration
01:03:03to ensure
01:03:04ineligible aliens
01:03:05are not receiving funds
01:03:06from the Social Security Act programs.
01:03:09It will expand
01:03:09the Social Security Administration's
01:03:11Fraud Prosecutor Program
01:03:12to at least 50
01:03:14U.S. attorney offices
01:03:15and establishes
01:03:16a Medicare and Medicaid
01:03:17Fraud Prosecution Program
01:03:19in 15 U.S. attorney offices.
01:03:22The memorandum
01:03:23will also require
01:03:24the Social Security Administration
01:03:25Inspector General
01:03:26to investigate
01:03:27earning reports
01:03:28for individuals
01:03:29aged 100 or older
01:03:31with mismatched
01:03:32Social Security records
01:03:33to combat identity theft.
01:03:34And the memorandum
01:03:36will direct
01:03:36the Social Security Administration
01:03:37to consider
01:03:38whether to reinstate
01:03:40the use of
