00:00Saeed Sadiq Saeed Abdulrahman altered plans to keep a public donation of RM120,000
00:07after winning the MOAR parliamentary seat in 2018. The Court of Appeal heard today.
00:14Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Azen Yuzo Khan said the former Bersatu Youth Chief obtained
00:19the money via two fundraising events held at MOAR and Ampang in early April that year.
00:25She said he had told donors that the 14th general election was heavily stacked against
00:28the opposition and pleaded for their help to cross the finish line.
00:32She also said Bersatu Youth's former assistant treasurer, Rafiq Hakim Rezali, was then instructed
00:37to transfer the RM120,000, which was kept in a Bersatu Youth Bank account into Saeed Sadiq's
00:42personal account in four separate transactions before the start of the election campaign that year.
00:48Farah said Saeed Sadiq then transferred RM100,000 in two tranches on June 15th and 16th into his
00:54Amanah Saha booming future investment account.
00:56She told a three-member bench chaired by Justice Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim that what transpired was a
01:02change in intention, as the money remained untouched throughout the entire campaign period and was
01:07only dealt with later. Farah said Saeed Sadiq's defense that the money was a disbursement of
01:13election expenses was not credible, describing it as an afterthought that only emerged during the
01:18trial after he was caught. On November 9, 2023, Saeed Sadiq was found guilty of a betting in criminal
01:24breach of trust amounting to RM1 million and dishonest misappropriation of RM120,000.
