00:00Coming back down to this weight class for the first time in a number of years.
00:03I mean, it has been since 2019 that you fought at 185,
00:07you dropped down to 170 for a while, went back up to 205, to light heavy.
00:12How has the weight cut been for you getting back down to here from where you
00:15were last year, and why the change in divisions?
00:20Yeah, so I would say I would use the word finalist when it comes to being back at 185.
00:28This is the weight division that gives me the best.
00:32My walk-around weight is perfect for the middle weight.
00:38Light heavy weight, I never gained the weight that I needed to be able to
00:45actually fill out the body, and the welterweight was just too hard of a cut.
00:49I did it for a couple of years, and it just started to affect my performance.
00:53So now, like I said, finally, back at 185, where I believe I will perform the best.
00:59I feel you. I'm a little bit older than you.
01:02So as we get up there, getting rid of that weight, it gets harder and harder.
01:05I'm sure you're feeling fresher, you're feeling better.
01:08How do you feel right now as you're ready for this fight coming up?
01:12Is it easier for you to be where you are, less weight to cut,
01:15and you don't have to put on that extra muscle and carry that extra bit that can gas you out?
01:19How do you feel as you get ready to step into that cage?
01:23Oh, I feel great.
01:26I've had a lot of fun with camp.
01:29It felt great.
01:30Also, like I said, nice not having to focus about weight cuts.
01:35I know that 185 is such an easy cut, so I don't have to actually walk around every day
01:41and just focus on how my diet is going to affect me and stuff like that.
01:47So I feel great.
01:48It's been fun, and I'm looking forward to the fight.
01:51I'm very stoked.
01:53You know what?
01:54I understand you wanted to make the easier cut because, I mean,
01:56I saw the pictures that you had from Friendsgiving.
01:58I mean, those ribs that you had.
02:00I mean, when you've got people who can cook you that kind of food,
02:03why would you even bother trying to get down to 170?
02:05Just enjoy life a little bit.
02:06Man, you guys had such a serious spread you had going on there.
02:09I've seen a couple of different posts.
02:10He was some great food.
02:11You've got to love the good stuff sometimes and let yourself enjoy life, right?
02:15Okay.
02:16I'm a foodie.
02:17I love making food, and this is one of my friends,
02:22Kendrick Benjamin from Salt Lake City.
02:25He's an amazing chef.
02:27So I was his food chef for that one.
02:30I was at my house in Vegas doing a friend's giving.
02:33But, like, he showed me how to do the best brisket.
02:37I just loved and I enjoyed food.
02:40So 170 was definitely enough for me anymore, I should say.
02:45I got you.
02:46Who needs a six pack when you can enjoy life a little bit more?
