00:00Iran is seeking support from Russia over a possible nuclear deal ahead of a second round
00:07of talks with the United States this weekend. Iran's foreign minister Abbas Aragchi said he
00:13briefed his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov about the first round of talks held in Oman.
00:19He also met with Russian President Vladimir Putin,
00:22delivering a message from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
00:30Lavrov said Russia was ready to mediate and assist in the nuclear talks
00:44and that Putin was very pleased with the meeting with Aragchi.
00:48Aragchi praised Russia's role in the landmark 2015 nuclear deal
00:52that led to lifting of sanctions in return for Tehran's cap on its nuclear activities.
01:00U.S. airstrikes on Yemen's Ras Issa oil port have killed at least 74 people and injured more than 100,
01:09according to the Houthi rebel group. It appears to be the deadliest strike since
01:14U.S. President Donald Trump launched a new military campaign against the Houthis last month.
01:20The rebels claimed the strike targeted civilian workers.
01:24The blast engulfed the facility in flames and sent fireballs into the sky.
01:28U.S. Central Command defended the attack,
01:32saying the port was targeted to eliminate the source of fuel for the Houthis.
01:36It did not comment on civilian casualties.
01:40The strike represents a major escalation in the ongoing military campaign,
01:44with analysts saying it was the first mass casualty incident the Houthis have openly acknowledged and publicized.
01:50However, neither the number of strikes nor the full toll have been publicly disclosed.
01:56President Donald Trump suggested he could remove Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell in a dispute over cutting interest rates.
02:07The comments raised the possibility of a showdown between the White House and the Fed as Trump demanded that the central bank slash rates.
02:14Oh, he'll leave. If I ask him to, he'll be out of there.
02:18But I don't think he's doing the job. He's too late, always too late, a little slow, and I'm not happy with him.
02:29Powell has so far indicated that he would not resign if requested, with the Fed designed to be independent from government control.
02:35The level of tariff increases announced so far is significantly larger than anticipated,
02:41and the same is likely to be true of the economic effects, which will include higher inflation and slower growth.
02:48There is legal ambiguity about whether Trump can remove the Fed chairman, with any dispute likely to end up in the U.S. Supreme Court.
02:57For more than 400 years, the Orthodox and Catholic churches have used a different way to determine when Easter falls.
03:03This year, however, is one of the few times that both churches celebrate the Resurrection on the same day.
03:10Leading religious figures, including Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew,
03:15have expressed a desire to make the joint celebration a permanent one.
03:19This idea has been floated since the 1960s, but has never been realized.
03:24The question was, which side was going to give way, while centuries of division and mistrust lurked.
03:29The World Council of Churches in Geneva has proposed a middle ground,
03:33which means calculating Easter using modern astronomy and based on Jerusalem time.
03:39The close relationship between Pope Francis and Patriarch Bartholomew is seen as key to agreeing on a joint celebration
03:45at a time when religious analysts stress that the world wants unity as never before.
03:49The World Council of Churches in Geneva is set in ourselves.
