00:00I could think of many, many ways I don't want to die.
00:07I hadn't even considered this one, but it's on my list now.
00:12Okay.
00:13I don't want to die after being buried under hot asphalt.
00:19Oh, no.
00:20No, no, no, no.
00:21No, no.
00:23I'm alive.
00:24You were.
00:24And then it just pour slowly over top of me.
00:28Now you're not.
00:28That's crazy.
00:30Good.
00:30No, no, no, no, no.
00:33Happen to a man.
00:36Yikes.
00:37Unfortunately.
00:38Couldn't stop it up.
00:40How did that happen?
00:41This guy in Jackson, Mississippi.
00:43It's not a speed bump at all.
00:45Oh.
00:46Oh, yeah.
00:47Oh, yeah.
00:47They gotta rip that up.
00:48Oh, you think it is.
00:50No, that's Jimmy or whatever it is.
00:52Right, doing jumps over it.
00:54No.
00:55Jumping Jimmy.
00:56Chase.
00:56Oh, Jason's turned into the emperor.
00:58Yeah.
00:59He's laughing.
01:00That's him.
01:01It's Jason.
01:02It's actually Jason laughing.
01:04It is.
01:04Good.
01:05Here's the story on this one from WJTV.
01:08Take a listen.
01:09That's Daryl Sheriff's family observing where the 41-year-old lost his life.
01:19My prayers, condolences, thoughts, my heart goes out to his family.
01:25The incident took place at A.J. Materials in the 1,000 block of East McDowell Road.
01:31He was a private contractor that came to A.J. Materials with a truck to pick up asphalt.
01:37The Jackson Police Department says Sheriff was trying to fix a hydraulic line under his dump truck.
01:43As he tried to fix the vehicle or mitigate the issue with the vehicle, the vehicle actually unloaded all this hot asphalt onto him.
01:52Sheriff's family told Wade that Sheriff was a good man just trying to make a living.
01:57Some people on the scene told Wade that the man tried to fight for his life.
02:01You can just think of the amount of damage that was done to him with a load of asphalt, burning hot asphalt coming down upon his body.
02:10They said he tried to fight.
02:11It's really detailed in his description, huh?
02:14This is crazy.
02:15They got his family there.
02:17They're like, this is how he was covered in hot asphalt and buried alive.
02:20Right here.
02:22That cop, like, you know, the hot asphalt was burning him as he was suffocating.
02:25He was alive for a minute.
02:27It was like he was part crushed, part burnt, and part suffocated all at the same time.
02:33Are you sure?
02:34Absolutely, 100% sure.
02:36You could see, like, the looks of screams when they got him unburied.
02:40You could see the look of terror and pain on his corpse face.
02:43It was wild.
02:45Too much info.
02:46It's a lot.
02:47Too much.
02:48No, it's like we can't speak about the situation.
02:51It's investigation is unfolding.
02:53A muffled scream could be heard quite a long time after that.
02:57Can you imagine this internal thought as he was cooking alive?
03:03Can you even imagine it?
03:05Like a pig roast.
03:06Oh, my God.
03:07That is too much.
03:09You're telling us too much.
03:10He was simmered a bit.
03:11It was a slow cook.
03:13His skin was falling off.
03:14That is correct.
03:15No.
03:17Wow.
03:18That officer needs to go back to press camp.
03:21That was the craziest description I've ever heard.
03:22A little more sensitive.
03:24Very descriptive.
03:25Oh, my God.
03:25You can't say something.
03:26You can just think of the amount of damage that was done to him
03:29with a load of asphalt, burning hot asphalt coming down upon his body.
03:35They said he tried to fight to, you know, make it through those injuries,
03:38but they were just too enormous for him to survive.
03:41What people don't know is that when you're burning, your eyes burn first.
03:45Pop, pop.
03:46So your sight goes, and there's a popping noise when your eyes burn out.
03:49Jesus.
03:51That's too much.
03:52You don't even know.
03:53And it was enough to just burn the top layer of his skin off.
03:56That's right.
03:57He was all muscle.
03:59His muscles hanging out.
04:00Oh, my God.
04:01Dear God.
04:02He was fighting.
04:02His arms was waving.
04:04His arms was waving.
04:05Ah!
04:06No!
04:07Help me!
04:08No more!
04:09Help me!
04:10No more!
04:11Yeah!
04:12No!
04:13Pretty wild.
04:14Too much.
04:14You shouldn't be saying it.
04:17Family's right there!
04:18I'm really thinking of you, family.
04:20Yeah.
04:21I am thinking of you.
04:22Terrible.
04:22He was also thinking of them because he kept screaming their names.
04:25No!
04:25He didn't!
04:26He was like, oh, Martha!
04:28No!
04:28Help me!
04:29No!
04:30Oh, my God!
04:30His one arm just came off.
04:32No!
04:32No!
04:33Yep.
04:34I'm not lying.
04:35I'm not lying.
04:36Dear God, you shouldn't be speaking of it.
04:38You should have seen it.
04:39I don't want to say too much, but they say there's no way he didn't feel everything.
04:42Exactly!
04:44You could tell he felt everything because he was saying it.
04:47He was like, I feel everything!
04:50Help!
04:50I feel every ounce of this!
04:57Someone kill me, please!
05:00Are you sure?
05:01Yes!
05:02Do it!
05:03I feel every ounce of this.
05:05Yeah, no, I mean, yeah, that cop really let you have it, huh?
05:09He did.
05:10Yeah.
05:10You can imagine.
05:12That's like a doctor with a bad bedside manner.
05:15Yeah.
05:16You know, that's exactly what that is.
05:18He's seen a lot of stuff in his life, and he's just like,
05:20Oh, yeah, another man cooked by just a ton of asphalt.
05:24That cop probably rolls up to like a motorcycle accident victim.
05:26He's like, your legs is off, man!
05:28You're dying right here!
05:30That's a lot of blood coming out.
05:31I don't know.
05:33Woo!
05:35Jail!
05:37Your legs is off your body!
05:39You're about to die.
05:41Oh, you ain't gonna make it!
05:42I see the life passing out of you right now.
05:45Let me stitch you up.
05:47You have to lay right here.
05:48Yeah, there it is right there.
05:49Look at that thing.
05:50It's off.
05:51Yeah.
05:51You want these?
05:54That's my leg!
05:55Yeah, I'm gonna put it like next to you.
05:58I'm gonna sort of, look, this is where it used to go.
06:01This is where it used to be.
06:04Hold on, hold on.
06:04Are you supposed to make me feel better?
06:05Hold on, don't move that shoulder too much.
06:07I'm gonna get that arm.
06:08Hold on.
06:08Yeah, there you go.
06:09Get it.
06:10Here it is.
06:10Here it is.
06:11Look, lay down.
06:13Well, you're kind of laying down.
06:14You're kind of twisted up.
06:15Yeah.
06:17Your pelvis is backwards.
06:18Right.
06:19Seems like the shock has set in because you're not reacting to the injuries as you should.
06:22Yeah.
06:23Let me poke you with a stick.
06:24I'll make sure you do.
06:26Can you feel that?
06:26First rule of talking to the media, don't say anything to the media.
06:31Don't say anything.
06:31It's too much.
06:32Tragic accident.
06:33Too much.
06:34Describing pain in depth.
06:35Can you imagine?
06:39It was hot.
06:41Hot as fire.
06:42Like lava on top of a man.
06:45He was fighting.
06:46No!
06:47Help!
06:48We're like, stop fighting!
06:51Lay there and die!
06:52They say his organs were cooked slightly like I must say was boiled.
06:55You could smell it in the air with like, who's cooking?
06:59Oh, him!
07:01Whoa.
07:01Smells good!
07:06Yeah.
07:06I mean, that's no good, man.
07:08No.
07:08That's no good.
07:09You don't hear the police get into it.
07:12No, never.
07:12Almost in every other scenario, they're like, we can't talk about the situation.
07:17Everything that's being looked into.
07:19He didn't do any of that stuff.
07:21Not this guy.
07:22No.
07:23Not at all.
07:23All we found.
07:26Was his shoes.
07:27No.
07:28Yeah, his legs was gone.
07:29Oh, my God.
07:30Just some shoes.
07:31You
