00:38The site was first approved on appeal last February, but it wasn't until housebuilders Lovell Homes took over in February 2024 that the new proposals were submitted, and now unanimously approved.
00:53Councillor Simon Coles, who chaired the meeting, said that Local Flood Authority is satisfied that the design can withstand a 1 in 100 years flood, plus 45% extra for climate change.
01:08Councillor Quilliam Wren has approved the very straightforward plans, as he put it, but says he has concerns about flood mitigation, noting that we all know the impacts of fine lands time to time.
01:22And this may be just the beginning. Two more housing projects, one for 47 homes and the other for 80, with allotments, are expected to be decided on later this year.
01:35But for now, Copford-St. Luke's is preparing to welcome new neighbours, and a whole new chapter in this growing village's story.
