We went out into Manchester on the week of the marathon to ask people what it would take for them to get involved and how long it would take them to get in shape for it.

00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World. My name is Theo Hewson-Betson. Today I'm out in Manchester
00:03asking people about marathons and that's because this weekend we're going to see the Manchester
00:07Marathon take place. It's the second biggest one in the UK. 36,000 people have signed up to be a
00:11part of it. We want to know if people would be willing to run one themselves and how much work
00:16they think would have to go into it for them to be able to take part. I'm doing it next week.
00:20I'm doing Manchester. Is this the first time you've done one? First full marathon, yeah.
00:24Considering it, I think I'm a bit late for this year, but I'm not that quick.
00:29A few pints in. Yeah, yeah. This is the Guinness talking. But maybe I'll do it in the future.
00:34You know, I enjoy physical activity. I think we're all pretty sporty. We all go to the gym.
00:38We all do running. So the training's been good. I think I've done four months, like a training
00:42block now. But yeah, really enjoyed it. Take me about 30 seconds. I'm an animal. I do five
00:49press-ups before, mate. I just eat the whole thing. I come first as well. I think it's a
00:54long training process. If you want to go next year, start training now.
