Transcript
00:00Good morning, it's Steph at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday, April 24th.
00:03Just bringing you some of our headlines this morning.
00:05First of all, a good one, if you're a parent, our central team sent out yesterday a piece of the 13 best state secondary schools
00:12for attendance in South Yorkshire and why it matters for GCSEs.
00:18Like I say, that was from our central team, it is online now, very interesting read, if you're not a parent actually.
00:25But it's up there now, so you can have a look through there if you're of interest.
00:30Then something from the police trading standards officials, they visited a couple of shops this week
00:36after a report of illicit cigarettes, oversized illegal vapes and selling these products to underage children.
00:45It's a couple of, like I say, it's a couple of shops, the information's all there, they did seize an awful lot
00:51and there's a couple of pictures that are there of what they managed to retrieve.
00:55And then finally, a fisherman was caught red-handed by the Environment Agency
00:59when he attempted to use a cast net without permission on a canal at Thorne.
01:03Basically, if you're not a pro fisherman, you might not know that you can have a rod licence to go fishing
01:09but that doesn't include using a cast net as well.
01:13So, this particular gentleman claimed that he didn't realise that and he received a fine.
01:22So, for those stories, just visit www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk
01:27and obviously we'll keep you updated on Facebook and X and enjoy the rest of your day.
