00:0014th overall, the Colts salivating to get the Mackey Award winner, and they made that pick official.
00:06Tyler Warren, the tight end out of Penn State, the number 14th overall to the Indianapolis Colts.
00:12And we'll start with you from that odds perspective.
00:14He slights the line here tonight.
00:16He was a hefty favorite to be a top-end pick.
00:19He was the hefty favorite to be the first tight end off the draft board.
00:22He was neither of those things.
00:23Colts, Cleveland, going 10th overall to Chicago.
00:27What do you make of the stock for Tyler Warren and how happy should Indy be right now?
00:31Okay, entering tonight, second biggest faller to Jalen Walker.
00:35Again, we follow the markets.
00:36Shooter Sanders not being off the board.
00:38We haven't talked about it because it's not a surprise.
00:40So Tyler Warren, second biggest faller as of this point now.
00:44Indianapolis closed over minus 200, though, to draft a tight end position.
00:48I just think so many people thought it was going to be Colston Loveland as tight end two off of the board.
00:54What is fascinating to me, though, is, Joe, for the Indianapolis Colts and Anthony Richardson and Shane Steinkton,
01:01did they view tight end as that big of a need, or is this best player available?
01:06I think it's best player available.
01:08I agree because, again, you know, wide receivers, Pittman, Josh Downs, right, you know, for them.
01:14You know, good, productive wide receivers.
01:16But if you can't get them the football out of the quarterback position, you'll have problems.
01:20But what did Anthony Richardson really struggle with was consistency underneath.
01:25Hopefully, Ty Warren opens things up.
01:27And if you're talking about just, like, you know, resume and body type and just, you know, long history,
01:35Dallas Clark wore the same type of number back in the day.
01:38You can only hope that it could be, like, 70% or 80% of that type of productivity.
01:42But he's a Swiss Army knife as well, utilized him in terms of wildcat type of situations inside the red zone.
01:49He's like a fullback as well, can run the football in goal line situations.
01:53That's what you want to see.
01:55And it's just an added dimension.
01:56But look at the body size in terms of red zone opportunities.
01:59Hopefully, this helps Anthony Richardson's progression.
02:02He quite literally did everything last year in Penn State's offense coordinated by Andy Kotelnicki.
02:08He threw passes, he ran the football, and he caught a ton of balls as well.
02:13He was the Mackey Award winner.
02:15That's the best tight end at the FBS level.
02:18So, Cap in blue, we go back to you guys as well.
02:2113th overall, the Miami Dolphins focus on defense.
02:25They take the D tackle out of Michigan in Kenneth Grant.
02:28Indianapolis did not wait long to make that 14th overall pick.
02:32They take the tight end out of Penn State in Tyler Warren.
02:35You guys, what is your reaction to those two picks?
02:37We just saw go very quickly here in the opening round.
02:40Yeah, real quick, I'll go rapid fire to you, Cap, in that I think Lisey's spot on with the Dolphins
02:46in terms of a little bit wayward on their strategy.
02:50They had a lockdown defensive tackle, let him walk in free agency in Wilkins.
02:54They replaced him with Grant, but there's no telling exactly if he'll reach the heights that Christian Wilkins.
02:59Yeah, Mike, I had Grant going late first round.
03:02He's strictly a nose tackle.
03:03He's not a three technique.
03:04He's not a pass rusher.
03:05Run stopping defensive tackles typically go much later, but he's a good football player.
03:11Here's the knock on Grant, I'm told.
03:14Tape shows an inconsistency.
03:16Effort needs to be better, needs to be more consistent.
03:19When he applies himself, he is dominant, okay?
03:22He's dominant.
03:23And by the way, Warren is a great value for the Colts.
03:27That's actually who I mocked to them two months ago.
03:29But Loveland going a little earlier surprised me, but here's the thing about Warren.
03:34He's a three-down tight end.
03:35Loveland is a move tight end.
03:36He's not an in-line tight end like Warren.
03:39Yeah, so different needs obviously being addressed there by the Bears and Colts.
03:43They both end up with the tight ends, Ben.
03:45I love the pick for the Colts, but the Colts have bigger fish to fry at the quarterback position,
03:52and Tyler Warren is just one piece in many that they need.
