00:00The first selection for the Houston Texans in 2025, of course they had the 25th overall pick
00:05originally last night. They trade out of that spot to allow the New York Giants to come back
00:10into the tail end of the opening round and draft Jackson Dart. So their first pick of this draft
00:15have number 34 overall, second pick of round number two, and a slight upset there as well.
00:21The wide receiver out of Iowa State, Jaden Higgins. What do the draft odds look like
00:27for the first position drafted by the Texans? It was supposed to be offensive line. It was
00:32heavily supposed to be offensive line, except for a brief moment on Thursday. One of our
00:37producers, Chris, had alerted me, hey, offensive line plus 100 out of nowhere. All right, let's
00:42get in the mix. Minus 275, minus 300. They trade back. And with the offensive linemen that all
00:49went off the board on day number one, Joe, the idea was there was a big drop off and it
00:54forced Houston to pivot here and end up going with Jaden Higgins. I'm disappointed
00:58just because of the bet. I can't say I'm surprised though. It really did not seem like the Texans
01:04would be making a pick if they did go offensive line that would have been graded highly just
01:10based on players available at the time of the selection. Think about the offensive philosophy,
01:15right? They lose Bobby Slowick, but they want to chuck the football all around the yard,
01:19right? With CJ Stroud. Tank Dell is injured. We don't know when he's coming back. Nico Collins,
01:25the only main target. They struggled in terms of the Kansas City game from an offensive perspective.
01:29They have Xavier Hutchinson there. Another big play wide receiver from Iowa State hasn't really
01:35panned out up until this point. But Iowa State wide receivers typically like Alan Lazard hit the ground
01:40running in terms of the NFL. Had the opportunity to interview Jaden Higgins out at the Super Bowl,
01:466'4", 214, two seasons, 2,000 yards, multiple touchdowns. Played with Rocco Beck, a freshman,
01:53right? The emergence of him as a sophomore. He broke out last year. He can add another 10 to 15
02:00pounds. Great pick for them. And that's what they want to do in terms of their offensive philosophy.
