00:00Hello and welcome to Manchester World, my name is Theo Houstonbets and this is your transport update for the week.
00:04As always there's lots to get into so let's dive straight in.
00:08Firstly there's going to be lots of disruption over the next week at Whittaker Lane in Prestwich after a crater opened up there earlier this week.
00:14Work started going on there yesterday and the site is right next to Heaton Park tram stop and runs between Very Old Road and Very New Road.
00:21The street is closed in both directions and apparently it was caused by an issue with the sewer beneath the road.
00:26It's set to reopen around May 1st but please keep an eye on our website for more.
00:31There is some better news though when it comes to disruption as the tram track replacement between Market Street and Church Street has now been finished.
00:38The work was part of a planned £147 million track upgrade that's set to take place between now and 2027 and I'm afraid to say there are more upgrades planned soon.
00:48Starting with the Rochdale tram line which we've seen some work done over the bank holiday weekend.
00:52And then later this year Portland Street, Eighton Street and Piccadilly Gardens will get some attention too.
00:57Now the work on the Rochdale line will be done between the 3rd and the 5th of May as well as on the 18th so please make sure to plan your journeys carefully over those days.
01:06And then finally this week Manchester Marathon is set to be a lot of fun but it is going to wreak a little bit of havoc on the roads.
01:12There are some places that will be closed off completely so here's some of the things that you need to know.
01:16Firstly it's going to start at 9am and will follow a route from Old Trafford Football Stadium turning onto the Chester Road towards Sale and then on to Old Trigam.
01:24From there the route goes through Bagley and Sale before Cholton, Worley and Holm finishing at Manchester Oxford Road.
01:30Buses are going to face a lot of diversion on Sunday and some roads will be closed up until 7pm.
01:35We do have a full list on the website so please be careful to plan your journeys accordingly.
01:39That's all for now. Thank you very much for watching and follow Manchester World for more. See you again soon.
