00:00And then you can start. Is that all right?
00:03I like to say jokes that won't make the movie.
00:06Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the moments when a Melissa McCarthy movie
00:11came to a complete standstill because everyone was laughing too hard.
00:16Don't do that thing with your thumb again.
00:21Number 10, The Claw, Thunder Force.
00:24A Melissa McCarthy superhero epic was bound to be all kinds of goofy.
00:30In Thunder Force, she and on-screen love interest Jason Bateman give surf and turf a whole new meaning.
00:43Bateman plays a criminal with two giant crab claws instead of hands, appropriately known as, wait for it, the crab.
00:51Somewhere inside those kind of yoked, strong, glistening shells is the heart of a really good man-crap.
01:03In this hilarious outtake, Bateman is embracing McCarthy with his massive claw, which, to be honest, would be hard for anyone to take seriously.
01:10She does her best, but when Bateman accidentally knocks her in the face with his crusty limb, the two can't go on.
01:16That one probably opened you up. Let's, uh, medic, non-emergency.
01:20Number 9, Trying to Sound Romantic, Spy.
01:23This 2015 espionage comedy shows us a different, softer side to action star Jason Statham.
01:29It's like a piano.
01:32For a guy who's used to bracing high-adrenaline sets, even tough guy Statham isn't immune to the giggles that his co-star tends to bring out in people.
01:40He can't believe his ears, as spy director Paul Feig, relays to him a particularly graphic punchline he's supposed to say right in McCarthy's face.
01:50Do you want that one off the cuff, yeah?
01:52We bring that in.
01:53Yeah, please.
01:55Keep rolling, everyone. Keep rolling.
01:56The two are awash in laughter.
01:59Then, when Statham actually manages to shoot the line off, all it takes is McCarthy's relatively subdued reply to set them both off again.
02:06You need to rein it in, buddy.
02:07Thank you, buddy.
02:09I've fed my lives. This is so great.
02:11Number 8, Lady Infection, Bridesmaids.
02:14Most people came to know McCarthy through her Oscar-nominated role as Meghan, the vulgar government employee who knows where all the nukes are.
02:22I'm coming in. Let's go. Let's go. And we're walking. Okay, we're walking. Heel. Heel.
02:28One of her best scenes sees her giving Kristen Wiig's Annie a prep talk. She makes a point to mention that Annie hasn't showered in days, and thus some unfortunate hygienic issues have sprouted up.
02:40There's the Annie I knew was there, okay? All right. And you've got to wash your hair.
02:44In this outtake, she gets pretty graphic about Annie having a lady infection. The funniest thing has to be when she loses it and lets out this quick guffaw of laughter before reining it back in and getting back to the point.
02:57And then gave it a quick dip in the head. And then gave it a quick dip in the back. And then gave it a quick...
03:05Number 7, A Lot of Stuff. Spy.
03:09In this climactic scene, McCarthy's super-agent heroine corners the story's villains. Guns drawn, she and her ally are way outnumbered. This is deadly serious stuff here. You wouldn't know it from the bloopers.
03:21I've seen him put his foot in things.
03:27This one's for my mom.
03:29Not even having a gun trained on co-stars Rose Byrne, Jude Law, and Bobby Cannavale can stop them from laughing.
03:37If anything, it's even harder not to break character when McCarthy is spouting her insane improv about hair and body parts while trying to look like a specially trained assassin.
03:46And I'll tell you what, that's a lot of ass, and it's a lot of hair, and it's hands, and it's feet going everywhere.
03:51At one point, it almost seems like she's deliberately trying to get Cannavale to break.
03:55Needless to say, she succeeds.
03:58Sexually.
03:59I'm sorry, f*** off.
04:02Number 6, Car Trouble. Thunder Force.
04:04Co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer have actually been good friends for decades,
04:09but they first got to work together in this superhero buddy comedy for Netflix.
04:13Why are you still teasing me?
04:15It's a mistake!
04:19Ooh, that's messed up.
04:21I'm sorry.
04:23Well, sorry, he was trying to kill me.
04:25In it, they defy the laws of physics and biology to fight crime.
04:29But that's just movie magic.
04:31Jim McMahon had eye issues, and he wore glasses.
04:35If he would take off the sunglasses, there would be magic.
04:38McCarthy makes a whole meal out of a piece of physical comedy, where she's having trouble climbing out of a car.
04:43But in the passenger seat, Spencer can't hold in her laughter.
04:53What makes this outtake even better is that you can genuinely tell how much fun these two have together.
04:58Now you look exactly like Jodie Foster in Contact, right?
05:03And then you can start, if that's all right.
05:07I like to say jokes that won't make the movie.
05:10Number 5, Bucking at Toni Collette.
05:13Tammy.
05:14I'm so sorry, Tammy.
05:16You startled me.
05:17I should f***ing startle you again.
05:19It's fairly likely that the Australian superstar flew halfway across the world to co-star alongside McCarthy in this 2014 comedy.
05:26Which is probably why she attributes her chuckling to jet lag.
05:30But while shooting the scene where McCarthy's Tammy catches her husband essentially cheating with her character,
05:36Toni Collette was definitely locked in.
05:38I'm sorry I got fired.
05:40Shut up, Missy.
05:41Why are you in my house making my husband dinner?
05:44So locked in, it turns out, that McCarthy's decision to bucket her takes her completely by surprise.
05:49The way the star almost seems impressed with herself just makes it all the more wholesome.
05:54I really did startle her.
05:58If you want to see the power of acting, look no further.
06:01Number 4, I Have a Pepsid.
06:03Life of the Party.
06:05A fish-out-of-water comedy, if there ever was one,
06:07Melissa McCarthy stars as a middle-aged woman who goes back to college in Life of the Party.
06:12Okay.
06:13Alright, well, I'll see you around campus or on the quad.
06:18Nobody says that, Mom, but I...
06:19Nobody says that?
06:20Well, bring it back.
06:21See you in the quad, Tigers!
06:22The entire gag reel is worth a look, including her failed attempt to make a toast.
06:27What do we want?
06:28Full varsity!
06:30And full maternity leave for non-gender-specific working parents!
06:35But the biggest laugh is this blooper with comedy legend Maya Rudolph.
06:39When McCarthy has some gas, Rudolph offers her a Pepsid just as she's taking a drink.
06:44Everyone on set loses it.
06:46I have a Pepsid.
06:47One good rule of thumb might be, never take a drink of anything when Rudolph is on set.
06:55Number 3, Dangling from the Helicopter.
06:58Spy.
06:59Throughout this 2015 crime caper, Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham are volleying back and forth
07:04between sexual tension and just general overall tension.
07:07Are you kidding me?
07:10The climax of the film sees them dangling from a helicopter.
07:13Statham clings to McCarthy's body, eventually finding his leverage with her chest.
07:17Though this blooper looks close to what actually ends up in the movie, the shot runs a little
07:21longer, with McCarthy suggesting that she might be enjoying this a little too much.
07:26Oh my god, those do not belong on those!
07:28Get off!
07:29Oh, that's nice.
07:30That's nice.
07:32You can hear Statham's gasping laughter off screen.
07:35Leave it to her to take the movie's most dangerous moment and defuse it with some unhinged ad-libs.
07:40Oh, it's works!
07:42Oh, the tide!
07:44Oh!
07:46Number 2, Air Marshal John.
07:48Bridesmaids.
07:49This is a case of letting the camera run while McCarthy does her thing.
07:52That kind of fire only comes from training.
07:57I prefer more of like a Turner and Hooch relationship.
08:01What are you talking about?
08:02As Megan in Bridesmaids, she's doing her best to suss out where Air Marshal John keeps his gun.
08:07Yes, there's probably a euphemism in there somewhere.
08:10The most charming thing about this is that she's acting alongside her real-life husband
08:14and frequent collaborator Ben Falcone.
08:16This goes off the rails awfully fast.
08:20Hey.
08:20Uh, not fireman.
08:23You're not a fireman.
08:24Sorry.
08:25I missed the wall.
08:26Did you see that?
08:27I was like...
08:27From miscues to mistakenly calling his character a fireman,
08:31these two are having way more fun messing up than actually getting it right.
08:35You can tell they're married when they start playfully blaming each other for ruining the take.
08:40It's your fault.
08:41It's your fault.
08:42I can put both of my legs, man.
08:46Don't.

09:05Number 1.
09:05The Monologue
09:06This is 40
09:07A meeting with the principal goes haywire in this unbelievably long take from This is 40.
09:12McCarthy plays a disgruntled parent whose child is having a big problem with Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd's kid.
09:19I would like to rear up and jackknife my legs and kick you both in the f***ing jaw with my footbone.
09:25She goes on a two-minute rant that's completely improvised.
09:29With increasing cruelty and violence, it's an endurance test of comedy that Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann completely fail.
09:36And still, she keeps going.
09:38I'll chew through you.
09:40Slow blinking eyes.
09:41I will chew off your f***ing eyelids.
09:44You won't slow blink at me, will you?
09:45The crazy thing is McCarthy doesn't break once in those two minutes.
09:49She doesn't actually laugh herself until director Judd Apatow calls cut.
09:53The outtake is so good, it's included in its entirety over the film's end credits.
