Transcript
00:00You've done this before. If you're so smart, why can't you write your way out of this one?
00:04Honestly, sometimes fiction is so much cleaner than reality.
00:07Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for you Season 5's wildest, most jaw-dropping scenes.
00:14Spoilers ahead for Seasons 1 through 5.
00:16The whole internet is watching.
00:20Okay.
00:23Number 10. Joe's Secret Writing
00:25Joe!
00:30So, you're writing about killing Uncle Bob?
00:34In the first episode of You Season 5, Joe Goldberg admits he hasn't killed anyone in three years.
00:40His murder hiatus comes to an end when Kate's Uncle Bob conspires to destroy her reputation and force her to step down as CEO of Lockwood Corp.
00:47So what do we do?
00:51I know what we promised.
00:54I know how hard you've worked to stay good.
00:59But...
00:59But if this gets out, what we did in London, I mean, it's our survival.
01:04Joe suggests taking him out before he can expose Kate's past mistakes, but she's not on board.
01:10Later, we think Joe kidnapped Bob anyway and plans to kill him.
01:13As Kate discovers, Joe is just writing about who and how he wants to kill to calm his dark urges.
01:19She's repulsed by his desire to kill.
01:21However, Buffalo Bob proves to be relentless and cruel.
01:24You've lost the plot.
01:26You used to value my opinion.
01:31In the end, Kate lets Joe murder him.
01:34You're not done.
01:36You have to finish this story.
01:38An email to all interested parties from Buffalo Bob Kane confessing he was a man with demons who made up a lie about Kate, regretted it, and retracted it.
01:47Number 9.
01:49Henry's violence.
01:50Why is Henry talking to a cop?
01:52Because Henry is a monster.
01:54Reagan, oh my god, what happened?
01:56He broke my daughter's nose.
01:58When Joe receives a call about Henry getting into trouble at school, he's understandably concerned.
02:05Like any parent, he doesn't believe his son would hurt anyone.
02:08But he learns that Henry punched Gretchen Jacobs, his step-cousin, for calling his mother a murderer.
02:14Henry, I'm sorry that she said that to you.
02:17Is it true, what Gretchen said?
02:19Here's the conversation you've been dreading for years.
02:22Honesty is the best policy, but you two were once a kid who was introduced to the concept of murder too soon.
02:28Being the offspring of two violent people and having an unstable home life for the first three years,
02:33maybe it wouldn't be too far-fetched for him to develop early signs of aggression.
02:37At dinner, Henry overhears Gretchen's mom, Reagan, Kate's sister, threatening to ruin their lives and throws a butter knife at her.
02:44Joe may be shocked by his actions, but still defends him, saying Henry is trying to protect his family.
02:50Sound familiar?
02:51When I feel...
02:54protective.
02:56What are you fighting to protect?
02:58My family.
02:59Why specifically family?
03:01Because that's what you do.
03:02Number 8. Kidnapping the Wrong Twin
03:04It's been ages since you put a monster in this cage.
03:09Since you heard it screams and silenced them for good.
03:13You is a drama thriller with heavy themes.
03:16It's also darkly funny, mainly because Joe Goldberg is a judgmental introvert who says what we're thinking, sometimes.
03:23Seeing him fail is pretty hilarious too.
03:26In season 5, we meet Kate's paternal half-siblings, twin sisters Reagan and Maddie, both played by Anna Camp.
03:32Reagan is as ambitious as she is ruthless, making it her mission to take Kate down.
03:37Despite the animosity, Kate doesn't want her sister to die, but Joe decides to kidnap her, or so he thinks.
03:44Maddie, you caged the wrong twin.
03:48In a classic sitcom twist, he actually grabbed Maddie, who, to be fair, was hooking up with Reagan's husband Harrison while dressed like her.
04:00He's also surprised that this isn't Maddie's first time being kidnapped.
04:03He hated the whole abduction racket, and he really, really wanted to get out of it, but didn't know how.
04:10Number 7. Maddie Kills Her Sister
04:12You were right.
04:17The one person in the whole world who was supposed to respect me.
04:25She respected me the least.
04:28On his second attempt, Joe does capture Reagan, but not without an unexpected struggle.
04:33Basically, Peach Salinger all over again.
04:36He puts her in the glass cage with her sister.
04:38When she regains consciousness, their reunion isn't a happy one.
04:41You know, even sleeping with Harrison, that was a pathetic attempt to be me.
04:47You know what?
04:50At least I love him.
04:54Which is more than I can say for you.
04:56Reagan knows about Maddie and Harrison's affair, though we learn that Maddie loved him first.
05:01Maddie was also a surrogate for the couple and risked her life giving birth to Gretchen.
05:05Reagan is as venomous as ever, relishing in making her twin sister feel less than,
05:10showing just how little she values her life.
05:12You have been in here a week, and nobody's missed you.
05:18That's because you are expendable, Maddie.
05:23The lesser twin.
05:25The spare.
05:27Off screen, Maddie uses her insulin to kill Reagan.
05:31Sticking to Joe's questionable plan, she impersonates Reagan.
05:35Literally haunted by what she did, Maddie goes into a downward spiral.
05:38Number 6.
05:40Kate gets Nadia out of prison.
05:42What I want is to get you out of here.
05:46Which I believe I'm in a position to do.
05:50Because I helped put you in here.
05:53We're gonna take Joe Goldberg down.
05:56Season 4 had a few shocking reveals,
05:58but the one that really stuck with us was watching Joe frame Nadia for murder.
06:02The Darcy college student had her whole life ahead of her,
06:05and he ruined it just so he could get his happily ever after.
06:08We hoped Nadia would return,
06:10and more importantly, get out of prison with a revenge plan.
06:14However, we didn't expect Kate, who helped put her there, to be the one to do it.
06:18Your friends died.
06:20Starting with your boyfriend.
06:23Joe was just clearing a path for himself, and you ate it all up.
06:26As she continues to uncover more of Joe's crimes, including being the eat-the-rich killer,
06:35Kate begins by making things right, starting with having Nadia released.
06:39Sadly, there are things she can't reverse, like Nadia's father passing away, or Eddie's death.
06:44I had dreams before I met you, Joe.
06:48I was gonna be the first published author in my family.
06:53Eddie and I were supposed to have this tortured university love affair that could have turned into...
06:59Number 5. Character Cameos
07:01After Bronte's friends expose Joe on social media, we get a series of familiar faces, beginning with Dottie Quinn, Love's mother.
07:16Love and Forty are dead.
07:18Because of him, I haven't seen my grandson Henry in years.
07:22He made everyone think I was the crazy one when...
07:24No, he's the crazy one.
07:26Madre Linda residents Sherry and Carrie don't defend Joe, but their beef is with his late wife.
07:31As in the trailer, Beck's friend Annika Atwater comes forward, accusing him of killing Peach.
07:36That psycho absolutely killed my best friend Peach. He hated her.
07:40Oh, Peach was self-defense and I don't even remember your name.
07:43Paco has nice things to say about his former friend, including how he helped with his abusive stepfather Ron, which doesn't help Joe's case.
07:51Former Mooney's employee Ethan Russell chimes in with a somewhat neutral stance.
07:55I used to work with Joe. I always found him to be a good dude.
07:58Thank you, Ethan. Tell them.
08:00But, I make it a practice of believing the victims.
08:03I can't prove that the basement of Mooney's was haunted, even though it 100% was.
08:08Lady Phoebe and Will Bettelheim make longer appearances in other episodes.
08:12While we didn't see all the characters we wanted to, like Ellie, Theo, and Joe's half-brother,
08:17it's still exciting that we got this many.
08:19Number 4. Marianne Returns
08:21Another character we hoped would make a return was Marianne Bellamy, one of the few you survivors who escaped the glass cage with her life.
08:44Joe, delusional as ever, is happy to see her alive.
08:47He should have killed me better, Joe.
08:53But as she spits facts about how much he hurt and dehumanized her,
08:57he firmly believes he's a savior because he helped her get custody of her daughter by killing Juliet's father Ryan.
09:03Marianne also deserves credit for getting through to Bronte,
09:05who was still caught up in Joe until she heard some hard truths about another woman who believed Joe's lies.
09:11In the finale's happy ending montage, we see that Kate's working with emerging artists again,
09:16including Marianne, who finally feels safe enough to display her work.
09:20Returning to her first love, art.
09:23Championing the work of an artist who holds a special place in her heart.
09:28With Joe behind bars, Marianne Bellamy stopped fearing exposure.
09:32The world sees her talent.
09:35Loves her.
09:36Number 3. The Truth About Bronte
09:38Ahead of season 5, it was announced that Joe would have a new you to obsess over named Bronte.
09:54Going by that very likely fake name, fans theorized she could be just another hallucination,
10:00or maybe someone undercover.
10:02Bronte, real name Louise Flannery, was in fact real, but also catfishing Joe.
10:07We wanted justice for Guinevere Beck.
10:14Did you know her?
10:18You have this way of digging into your character's psyches.
10:21A flashback shows she was friends with Guinevere Beck,
10:24and teamed up with fellow internet sleuths Dominique, Phoenix, and Clayton to take Joe down.
10:29While they didn't like her decision to go rogue and make him fall for her,
10:32they still caught him.
10:33Bronte, we need to leave right now.
10:36We f***ing got him, Louise.
10:42Got me.
10:43Unfortunately, Clayton got aggressive with Bronte slash Louise and Joe killed him.
10:47Come to find out, he was the son of Dr. Nicky, the man Joe framed for Beck's murder.
10:53Then we met Clayton.
10:54His dad's getting screwed over as we speak.
10:56Who's your dad?
10:58Nick and Javine.
10:59Dr. Nicky.
11:01Oh my god.
11:02Number 2.
11:03Henry fulfills love's prophecy.
11:05Henry, are you there?
11:07Dad?
11:09Hey.
11:10Hey, Bob.
11:12Whether or not Joe is capable of real love and not infatuation has been an ongoing question in the series.
11:18The only real examples are probably his mother, even after she abandoned him, and of course, his only son.
11:25No matter what anybody says about you, or about me, I need you to know that I love you.
11:30Joe managed to keep his dark side from Henry for years, but this season's events exposed the truth.
11:35What did you do to mommy?
11:38What?
11:42What?
11:44Nothing, Bob.
11:45At first, Henry hears about his dad from his stepmother, Kate, who tells him just enough to know that he did something bad.
11:51Then he sees Joe with a knife and later learns that he killed his biological mother.
11:56On a call facilitated by Will, he finally says what Joe's been dreading.
12:00You lied.
12:03What are you saying?
12:05It was you.
12:09You're the monster.
12:11Just as love said with her last breath, Henry knows his dad is a monster.
12:15They'll know what you are.
12:25Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
12:29Kate fights back.
12:31Joe clearly underestimated his wife's strength.
12:33I'm the monster!
12:34I will fight this!
12:35With what money?
12:37What lawyers?
12:37Everything you have came from me.
12:39No!
12:40Joe's livestream breakdown.
12:42Thousands watch an accused serial killer weep after trauma dumping.
12:46Tissue break, y'all.
12:47We'll be back in five.
12:49Do you have any?
12:50Okay.
12:51Joe?
12:52Joe, hey.
12:54Hey.
12:54Hey.
12:55Did you not listen to a single word that I said?
12:59Low blow.
13:00We usually love Joe's savage reads, but this cut deep.
13:03My conscience is clean.
13:05If we're being honest, you have killed way more people.
13:09I have never killed any children.
13:12Hidden key.
13:13Somehow, Joe knew he'd end up in his own cage.

13:41Number 1.
13:41The End of Joe Goldberg
13:43For years, you fans have theorized and debated the ultimate fate of Joe Goldberg.
14:01Would he turn himself in?
14:02Get caught?
14:03Be killed by one of his victims?
14:05Or get away with it?
14:06Kate was determined to stop him and almost died in the process.
14:09Bronte takes on the responsibility of finally stopping Joe on her own.
14:13Risking her life in a long and brutal fight that ends with him wounded in handcuffs.
14:18Although he's killed at least 18 people, not counting Season 5 casualties,
14:22Joe is convicted of first-degree murder for killing Beck, Benji, Peach, and Love.
14:26After his conviction for the murders of Love Quinn and Guinevere Beck,
14:31allegations snowballed, turned into more convictions.
14:35One thing's clear.
14:36Joe Goldberg will never be free again.
14:40He'd rather die than go to prison,
14:41making his sentence of life without parole all the more fitting.
14:45Now he's the one in a cage.
14:47So, in the end,
14:50my punishment is even worse than I imagined.
14:56Do you think Joe Goldberg got what he deserved?
14:58What moment shocked you the most?
