00:00We should vote for people who will get things done rather than vote for people who will tell
00:10other people to get things done. There will be a round table tonight and I'm sure there will be
00:14many debates online and offline. But I think when we assess the proposals by any individuals
00:20or any parties, there are a few basic questions that we can ask to help our voters, help our
00:29residents make up their mind. How is this going to be paid for? Is it going to be paid for
00:33by drawing down the reserves? Is it going to be paid for by increasing taxes? Is it going
00:38to be paid for because we are suggesting that we borrow money and have our children or subsequent
00:44generations pay for it? A second very obvious question will be in these troubled times, are
00:52all these proposals going to help us attract more and better investments so that we can
00:58create better jobs for fellow Singaporeans? Are they going to help us bring in more and
01:04better investments so that there will be better jobs for our residents? Another question that
01:12I think we can all ask is that amongst all these proposals, is these proposals going to help
01:20our companies make more money in times of inflation like now? How do we compose a team that will
01:29best represent Singapore? That will give us the best, the strongest negotiating position
01:35when we go and negotiate with the rest of the world to secure our investments, to secure our
01:41supplies? I think these are the few basic questions that we would encourage all Singaporeans to scrutinise
01:49the details of the parties and the candidates.
