00:00The Goodyear blimp up high above Corporate Hill at Sydney's Eastern Creek Raceway as we get set for race two in round four of the Shell Championship Series for season 2000. A great shot there. And this is how they finished at the end of race one. A couple of standouts for you. Mark Scaife was your winner obviously. Brad Jones who's had a rotten year so far has worked his way up to 12th in the Aussie male Commodore. That's a sensational effort.
00:24Young on Todd Kelly. Well he qualified 9th and slipped to 22nd and Jason Barguano was caught up in that altercation early in the race. He bent a tyre arm and ended up finishing in pit lane. Let's go down trackside now. Mark Osler is with the top finishing Ford Pilot.
00:39Well it's pretty hard work driving a Falcon in 2000. Paul Radisic knows that better than anyone. Faster to the Fords here but boy they gapped you pretty effectively in that race.
00:46Yeah they sure did. I think we were going to put a spinner on the steering wheel for the next race and half the time I thought I was at Parramatta Speedway.
00:53But just struggling off the corners and it is a problem we have with the Falcons and you know we are trying to overcome it but this track is all about sweeping corners and getting the power on mid corner and we struggle.
01:05Can you make any changes to affect the car for race two?
01:07Well we've been from A to Z and you know time's altered by a tenth so we'll just keep fiddling at it and you know we'll hope for a miracle like the front three fall off but you know outright pace we're just not there.
01:20Best of luck.
01:21We'll see how he goes in race two and this is just one of the many fabulous prints on offer from the good team at Graphic Signs.
01:28Larry Perkins high flying at Hidden Valley which incidentally is where we're headed rather for the next round.
01:33All the prints are autographed and beautifully framed.
01:35Just $195 plus postage and handling.
01:38Simply call the number on the bottom of your screen right now.
01:42Well there are the cars making their way around the track.
01:45Cameron McConville.
01:48Mark Scaife is your pole sitter alongside teammate Craig Lowndes.
01:51That's how they finished in race one.
01:52Tander and Radisic on row two.
01:54Russell Ingle and Glenn Seaton on the third row.
01:56And John Bowe and Tony Longhurst from grid seven and eight.
01:59If you look at those yellow boxes down the right hand side of the Shell Helix grid it shows where they qualified.
02:03So you get an idea of how they ran in race one.
02:06Larry Perkins qualified 14th.
02:08Brad Jones 17th up to 12th.
02:09That was a good effort from Bradley in the Aussie mail car.
02:11Let's hope he can keep improving throughout the day.
02:14Further back McConville and Ellery.
02:15Stephen Johnson.
02:16Greg Murphy here you can see they're in the background in the Kmart Commodore.
02:19Donahue Kelly, Paul Romano and Greg Ritter on the 12th.
02:23Thomas Mazira.
02:25Trevor Ashby.
02:25Steve Reeder got turned around in that one.
02:27Recovered to 27th.
02:29Chris Smerden.
02:29Mark Larkham.
02:30Paul Wheel.
02:31Mark Larkham served a stop go penalty for jumping the start.
02:34Peter Doolman.
02:34Cameron McClain.
02:35Back there in 32 after qualifying 24th.
02:37He's having a tough season.
02:39Alan Heath.
02:39Mark Poole.
02:40Anthony Tratt.
02:41Dougal McDougal.
02:41Barguana off the back of the grid.
02:44Watch out for him.
02:45He's got a decent set of rubber after missing out on the bulk of race one.
02:49He'll be one to watch.
02:50Do you know I can't understand talking about people jumping starts and that.
02:54Unless they have a man watching each row of the grid level with the cars all the way back up the circuit.
02:59I fail to see how they can predict.
03:02Or not predict.
03:02How they can say he back on the 12th row has jumped the grid Mark.
03:07Because look if you look at it there.
03:08How can you see if a car is creeping forward towards you sort of two inches.
03:13It's impossible.
03:14Yeah it's a tough call.
03:15That many cars.
03:17A huge queue of cars.
03:18We're almost ready for blast off.
03:20Can Craig Lowndes overcome that pole position of his team mate.
03:24Green flag wave to the back of the grid.
03:25The revs rise from the awesome V8s as we get set for race two of round four of the Shell Championship Series.
03:32We're away.
03:32A great start by Graves.
03:34Radisic is through as well.
03:35And so too Tander.
03:36Tander.
03:36Skate has been swallowed up off the start and Radisic is through.
03:39Radisic has grabbed the lead.
03:41Brilliant start.
03:42Lowndes settles into second place.
03:44That is a blinding start in the Shell Helix Falcon.
03:46A forward lead to Eastern Creek from a Holden in the hands of Lowndes.
03:50And then we go back into third place.
03:52Wow.
03:52What a start here.
03:53Well, they're going to have to...
03:54Oh, look at this.
03:55Now, Tander.
03:56Oh, Tander.
03:56Tander's made his way up as well.
03:58So Radisic under siege and Tander's barged his way through into second.
04:02Forcing both the Holden Racing Team Commodores further back.
04:05Problems there for Romano.
04:07Now, down into turn four.
04:09Well, what a real change of scenery here.
04:11Look at this.
04:11Morris, Morris and Larry Perkins.
04:14Perkins and Morris.
04:16Well, I don't think Larry Perkins is going to be getting a Christmas card from Paul Morris
04:19or vice versa this year.
04:20Larry will be one unhappy camper about that.
04:25One of the Shell Fords there might be Steve Johnson pumping out a bit of smoke.
04:28There might be a tyre running, but his teammate, the Rat, is on the attack.
04:32An unbelievable start to jump Holden Duro in front of him.
04:36Let's have a look at the Shell Helix replay.
04:38So we jump aboard.
04:39Oh, look at that.
04:39Just lighten her up and no traction.
04:41Now, watch how Radisic.
04:42Look at that.
04:43Yeah, perfect.
04:43Good move.
04:44Just threading through the needle.
04:46Beautiful start.
04:47The Shell Ford.
04:48He's really got the power down.
04:49Look at the gap.
04:50Time to two perfection now.
04:51We're getting word through that John Fortner, who was meant to be starting from pit lane,
04:56has in fact not even made his way out onto the circuit.
04:58He's missing from the grid.
04:59So we'll try and find out from our guys in pit lane just what's going on.
05:02You jump aboard.
05:03The Shell Helix Falcon with the Rat.
05:05The race leader now.
05:06Look at the gap out the back of the Falcon.
05:08Back to the first.
05:08The Ford fans rejoice here at Eastern Creek because the Rat is leading and giving the
05:14Ford fans something to cheer about.
05:16I tell you what, they were pretty flat after that race.
05:18Why not?
05:19Just a mild cheer as the cars cross the finish line.
05:22Now they're standing up out of their seats.
05:23They can't believe it.
05:24A Falcon is leading a V8 supercar race.
05:27Long time between bits.
05:28Look at the battle for second between Tander and Craig Lowndes.
05:31Mark Scaith, the pole position man, though.
05:34He's suffered badly in that.
05:35He's back and forth.
05:36The enforcer, Russell Engle in fifth.
05:37Then it's Seton, Bauer, Baird, Crompton, Longhurst.
05:41This is Morris and Perkins.
05:45Have a look here.
05:45See, Morris really wasn't...
05:49There wasn't any room there.
05:51And basically he should have done it.
05:53Perkins won't be happy about that.
05:56And he's not the bloke to get on the wrong side of our Larry, is he?
05:59Well, what an amazing turnaround.
06:00The 37-year-old Kiwi, Paul Radisic,
06:03currently running third in the Shell Championship Series.
06:06Fastest forward throughout qualifying.
06:07He had enormous oversteer in the car in the first heat.
06:10The team's obviously made some adjustments.
06:12Let's see if it's going to help him throughout the race.
06:14It's one thing to start well,
06:15but you've got to carry it right through the race.
06:17John Faulkner in the Team Asia Online Commodore
06:19has rejoined the field, we're told.
06:22But right now are forward leading proceedings.
06:25Look at them streaming out of turn nine.
06:26One of the Kmart Commodores there.
06:27That's Murphy.
06:28Greg Murphy just hanging on to it out of turn nine.
06:31The Murph doing a sensational job.
06:34No doubt all the viewers watching through TV1 in New Zealand
06:36would be enjoying watching his progress at the moment
06:39because the Kiwi leads outright.
06:41Paul Radisic leads.
06:43Craig there, the next best in eighth place.
06:44Then it's Murph.
06:45On board with Greg Murphy in the Kmart, Castrol Commodore.
06:49These Gibson Motorsport cars have really struggled.
06:52They continue to struggle in qualifying.
06:54They've got good race pace,
06:55but they just can't get any speed out of the cars
06:57when they're on green tyres,
06:58and that costs them dearly.
06:59They're always ending up right down the back of the field.
07:02Especially in a place like this,
07:03because you've got no chance,
07:04so if you're up the back,
07:05you know,
07:06to get through this.
07:07Literally nowhere to pass.
07:08Well, that's why these cars
07:09are always so strong in the endurance races,
07:11because they've got enough track time
07:13to actually move up maximum positions,
07:15but in a sprint race,
07:16very, very difficult to recover
07:18from a lowly starting position.
07:21Tom's in trouble.
07:24Radisic now under attack from the Holmans.
07:27Keep in mind, Jason Barguana
07:28heard the start off the back of the grid
07:29after Ben's steering and he'd won.
07:31He's up to 20 seconds,
07:32so the Valvoline Cummins driver
07:33on a real charge.
07:35Look how close they are now to the shell forward.
07:37Bargs is getting some good practice,
07:38I think, for race two
07:39at Kmart where we'll be starting off the back of the grid.
07:42Bit of reverse grid practice for Barguana.
07:44Not the way he wanted to do it,
07:45but he's going to get plenty of experience
07:46if he's punching his way through the field.
07:48Now look how close they are.
07:50Craig Lowndes right up behind
07:52the Valvoline Cummins Commodore.
07:54Wow.
07:55We've got this leading trio.
07:56I've ever seen these two,
07:59Scaife, Lowndes and Tander,
08:00all over each other in the opening rounds
08:02of the championship.
08:02What we haven't seen
08:03is a shell Falcon in front of him.
08:05It's a real turnaround for the books.
08:06It'll be interesting to see
08:07top speed wise down the front straight.
08:10Oh, this is Mazira.
08:13There he is.
08:14Oh, that's a Rodney Hawks there.
08:16Was there bodily contact there?
08:18Rodney Hawks in the wind's Commodore.
08:21Well, now the attack continues.
08:24Can the rat defend?
08:26Yeah, the kid with closed door
08:28coming up to the air, baby.
08:30The Ford fans in the grandstand
08:31went crazy when they saw this man.
08:33Look at the conservative line.
08:34See the conservative line he takes
08:38into turn two
08:38because he's got a Valvoline Cummins Commodore
08:40right up behind him.
08:42He's not giving that car
08:43a centimetre of space
08:45and he's got every right
08:47to drive that defensive line
08:48as long as he's not weaving.
08:50Put his car right in the middle of the circuit
08:51and make it very, very hard
08:52for the cars behind to pass.
08:54Radisic earned the wrath
08:56of a number of Commodore drivers
08:57that is using these tactics
08:59at the Melbourne Grand Prix support races.
09:02But he's quite entitled to do what he's doing.
09:04You see, Tan is looking at Radisic,
09:06but also he's got to keep his backside covered
09:08because they have his right up his belt themselves.
09:12It's the most difficult
09:13when you try to split your mind
09:14thinking about what you're trying to do
09:16to the guy in front
09:17and also covering your rear.
09:19You've got to give credit to Paul Radisic.
09:21He really has been the mainstay
09:22for the Ford Brigade so far.
09:24This season has been doing
09:25an absolutely tremendous job
09:27since we kicked off round one
09:28at Phillip Island.
09:29And this is what the fans want to see.
09:32A Ford out in front.
09:34The 37-year-old now resides, of course,
09:36on the Gold Coast.
09:38Former driver with the Ford factory team
09:41in the Super Touring Championship.
09:43Twice a winner of the World Cup.
09:44That's your Munro profile on Paul Radisic,
09:46race leader here in race two.
09:48Well, six of the top ten cars at the moment are Ford,
09:51so is the Blue Oval coming back
09:53looking strong at the moment at Eastern Creek?
09:55Originally from Auckland.
09:57Paul Radisic, 17th championship start.
10:00He's taken one pole position.
10:01That was at Simmons Plains,
10:02but he has not yet won
10:04a heap of the Shell Championship Series.
10:06Could this be the first one?
10:07Look how close Tander gets under brakes.
10:09A little kiss on the bumper
10:10as they come out of turn two.
10:12Radisic has controlled the pace of this race.
10:15Yeah, you remember last year
10:17we were saying,
10:17we haven't seen the proper rat yet
10:19because he never seemed to get the late.
10:21Look at this.
10:22Look at this.
10:24Tander having a look down the inside
10:25and trying to cover from Lowndes
10:26at the same time.
10:28Well, Radisic is enormously experienced.
10:30Two times World Cup touring car champion.
10:33Three times winner of the New Zealand Grand Prix.
10:36He's been a former factory driver
10:37for both Ford and Peugeot.
10:39He's a guy with enormous experience in ten tops
10:41and he will be relishing this challenge.
10:44His best lap,
10:45a 1.34.3.1.
10:47Tander going quick.
10:47A 1.33.8.8 was the best from Tander
10:50as they make their way off the back of Corporate Hill.
10:53The shot from up high
10:54in the Goodyear blimp.
10:55Tander good under brakes
10:56down into turn nine.
10:57The two HRT Commodores close up as well.
11:00And this whole process is helping Engel.
11:01Exactly right.
11:02Engel coming up.
11:03Well, this just goes to show
11:04if Radisic is running a pace a little bit slower
11:06than the Commodores could run it,
11:07it doesn't matter.
11:08As long as he's got them boxed in,
11:09they can't do anything about it.
11:10Let's have a look at this replay.
11:12Now, who's this in?
11:13Paul Wheel on the outside there.
11:15Donna Herb.
11:16And it looks like Greg Ritter.
11:17Oh, Paul Wheel.
11:18Paul Wheel, yep.
11:18And Ritter on the inside.
11:23So the officials are having a good look
11:24at that one later on.
11:26Meanwhile, back at the front,
11:27Paul Radisic under maximum pressure
11:29from the Holden attack.
11:30Look at them all.
11:31Commodores, one in a row.
11:32Tander, Lowndes, Scaife, Engel,
11:35Seaton the next to the Fords back in six.
11:37That's Bauer, Bannon, Crofton.
11:38A quartet of Falcons from six to ten.
11:41So the Commodores, the meat in a Ford sandwich
11:43at Eastern Creek at the moment.
11:45Got to take your hat off also to Dean Orr
11:46and the team.
11:47And the Dick Johnson racing outfit.
11:49They have worked incredibly hard on this car.
11:50They were scratching their head
11:51at the end of practice on Saturday
11:54when both Radisic and his teammate Stephen Johnson
11:59were languishing.
12:00And now look at Radisic leading the way.
12:02Yeah, all the times have pumped out
12:03at 1.35.03 for Radisic.
12:05So that's not running a bad pace.
12:08The Commodores toward the end of that first race
12:09are running in the mid-35.
12:11So it's not going that much slower.
12:13He's getting a bit of a build-up behind him.
12:14But the point about it is,
12:16so the nature of the circuit,
12:17if he can just steer a middle court,
12:19you know, the danger zone is at the end
12:21of the straight here.
12:22If he gets to the two or three,
12:24I'm pretty close.
12:25Yeah.
12:25He's just got to keep the car tight and accurate.
12:27It looks like it's behaving itself a lot better.
12:29An enormous amount of oversteer in heat one.
12:32That's the view from the Goodyear blimp
12:33looking down on Eastern Creek Raceway.
12:35Look at how hot and frustrated
12:36these Commodores are getting behind him.
12:38But Radisic equal to the task.
12:43So this has been a real turnaround
12:44in V8 Supercar in 2000.
12:47The Fords have been copping an absolute mauling
12:49in the opening rounds.
12:50Only taken one heat win.
12:51That was Craig Baird back at Phillip Island
12:53in the opening championship round.
12:56Since then, it's been an absolute drought.
12:58But this here is a Ford fight back
13:00this afternoon in race two.
13:01Look at Glenn Seaton making a move
13:02on Russell Ingle as well
13:03as we come down the main straight.
13:05Can Seaton pull off?
13:05He's not close enough
13:06so he won't do it.
13:08He tucks back in behind the enforcer.
13:09Glenn Seaton has enjoyed so much success
13:12around Eastern Creek in the past
13:14particularly in the days
13:15of the Winfield Triple Challenge.
13:17Sets at the moment in sixth place.
13:18There he is.
13:19John Bauer just in behind him
13:20and Russell Ingle in front.
13:21Up in front though
13:22it is Paul Radisic getting a little sideways
13:25in the exit of turn two.
13:27Tander in behind him
13:28and Lowndes escape Russell Ingle
13:29and this man you ride
13:30in the Ford FTR Falcon
13:33of Glenn Seaton.
13:35Absolutely crucial championship points
13:38on offer here too.
13:39Garth Tander still leading the championship.
13:41He's got a battle on his hands
13:42with a big shell forward in front.
13:44The action is hotting right up here
13:45in the creek.
13:45Stay with us.
13:46Radisic leading from Tander,
13:48Lowndes escape Russell Ingle,
13:49Glenn Seaton,
13:50John Bauer and Craig Baird
13:51on race seven of 13 laps.
13:54Crofton, Longhurst,
13:55Richards and Jones
13:56stay with us.
13:57Trust you're enjoying the action.
13:58When we left you,
14:05we were on lap seven.
14:06This is lap eight.
14:07Radisic leading the way
14:08from Tander
14:08and under all sorts of pressure.
14:10Look at this.
14:11Lowndes now applying
14:13the thumb screws as well
14:14and Scaife is right there.
14:16A freight train
14:16of Holden's and Ford's.
14:18Line of Stern
14:18heading towards turns
14:1911 and 12.
14:21Radisic's the man
14:21under pressure
14:22and doing a sensational job
14:24with standing it.
14:25Well, I'll tell you what,
14:26this reminds you
14:26of that Grand Prix
14:27many years ago
14:28back in 1991
14:28when Gilles Villeneuve
14:29held them out
14:30by the big fast
14:31out of the straights.
14:31Here we go.
14:32This happened during the ad break.
14:33Brilliant.
14:34Tander on the inside
14:35but watch Radisic.
14:36This is where
14:36Tander runs a bit wide.
14:38Radisic keeps it up
14:39on the inside
14:40but you see
14:40Tander's still on the proper
14:42side of the circuit
14:43to change direction.
14:45Now you see
14:45that's where he went in
14:46run wide
14:47and
14:48it was brilliant driving
14:50for Radisic.
14:51Well, both Tander and Radisic
14:53it was a great start.
14:54Oh, look.
14:55Clouds now.
14:55Oh, look at the inside.
14:58Five remaining.
14:59In this one,
14:59now Lowndes has got
15:00three.
15:00Oh, no, no, no, no.
15:01Tander's gone.
15:03Oh, boy.
15:05Now,
15:05how will that have found
15:06our championship leader?
15:08He gets back on
15:09but he's well down
15:10behind Greg Murphy.
15:11I think he's rejoined
15:11at about 14th position
15:13so that has cost him.
15:14In fact,
15:15there's Brad Jones now.
15:18Oh, tie,
15:19front, tie,
15:20front left is flat.
15:21Oh, what a shame.
15:23Well, this is what happens
15:24when you're chasing
15:25a championship.
15:25He's been missed
15:26a consistency so far
15:27but it takes one little
15:28collision like that
15:29and all of a sudden
15:31your race plan
15:31goes out the window.
15:32Garth Tander
15:33in serious trouble now.
15:35Flat toe,
15:36he's got to limp it
15:36round to the pits.
15:38At the time,
15:39well, he's in the pits
15:39he's going to start
15:40virtually from the back
15:41of the green.
15:41Now, Lowndes having
15:42a look here, Mark,
15:43on the outside
15:43down into turn nine.
15:45Oh, no, Skate's
15:46gotten through.
15:48So his teammate
15:49left the door open
15:50and Skate pounced.
15:52So our race one winner
15:53has moved up
15:53to second place.
15:54Things keep changing
15:55all the time here.
15:56Look at that.
15:57Oh, well, it's...
15:58Oh, that's going
15:59to be interesting.
16:00Well, it is.
16:00You know, it's unusually
16:02aggressive for Lowndes
16:03to see right
16:07from the very beginning
16:07of it.
16:08That's what we need
16:09to do to sort of
16:10make any comment.
16:11So the Valvoline
16:12Cummins car,
16:12four laps remaining
16:13for Paul Radisic,
16:14a fight for survival.
16:15He's now under attack
16:16from the Red Barons.
16:17Mark Skate and Craig Lowndes,
16:19Russell Engel back there
16:20in fourth position.
16:21Seton, Bow,
16:22Baird, Crompton,
16:22Lothurst and Stephen Richards.
16:24But this is where
16:25the action is.
16:25Can Radisic hang on?
16:27Oh, look, that's Tanner.
16:28Oh, it's...
16:30Well, Garth Tanner,
16:31our championship leader.
16:32This is a chance
16:33for the Mobile Holden
16:33Racing team
16:34to close the gap
16:35on him in the points chase.
16:36Tander first,
16:38Skate second,
16:39Radisic third
16:40in points at the moment.
16:41But Radisic leading
16:42this one.
16:43Can he take his first
16:44shell championship
16:45series victory?
16:48The board fans
16:48around the track
16:49and around the country
16:50no doubt holding
16:51their fingers,
16:52crossing their fingers,
16:53holding their breath.
16:54Well, we know
16:55what Radisic is like
16:56in a fight.
16:57We've seen him
16:57enough times
16:58in the bridge
16:58to recall to him.
16:59So, you know,
17:01they're going to struggle,
17:02struggle to get past him.
17:03Well, he's come
17:04from the middle.
17:05He's come from one
17:06of the toughest
17:07steering car championships
17:07in the world
17:08to another.
17:10And this is the toughest
17:11tin top battle
17:12in the world right now.
17:13And Radisic should be
17:13aware of it.
17:14There's Garth Tanner.
17:16Trying to do a quick
17:16tie chase.
17:17Look at Radisic
17:18going right down
17:19the inside line.
17:21Russell having a look
17:21as well now.
17:22Radisic exits turn nine.
17:25Gets good power
17:25down to the ground
17:26considering what he
17:26told you before, Mark.
17:27He said that he was
17:28driving speedway style
17:30around here.
17:30Having trouble
17:31towards the end
17:32of race one
17:33rather,
17:33but not at the ending
17:35or closing stage
17:36of race two.
17:37So at the moment,
17:37Radisic leads
17:38from Scaife
17:39and Scaife under pressure
17:40again from his teammate
17:41Lowndes
17:41on the exit of 12
17:42and on to the
17:43one kilometre long
17:44main straight.
17:45If you look at Radisic's
17:46car,
17:46it doesn't look like
17:47it's sort of tail
17:48happy at the moment.
17:49Now, you know,
17:49it's looking really good.
17:51Now, the boys
17:51have made the changes
17:52to whatever was required.
17:54Garth Tander,
17:54we've heard from the pits,
17:55is out of the race.
17:56So that's a big
17:57points drop
17:58for the 23-year-old
17:59West Australian.
18:00There's Larry Perkins
18:00who went out earlier.
18:03Tander may rejoin
18:04we here,
18:05but he's going to be
18:06right out of the running.
18:06This is where it's happening.
18:08Paul Radisic
18:09under maximum fire
18:11from the
18:11Holden Racing team.
18:13Mark Scaife in second.
18:14Craig Lowndes,
18:15Russell Engel in third.
18:18But this is very good
18:19driving by Radisic.
18:20He's using the power
18:22of the Ford
18:22to get ahead
18:23on the straights.
18:24He might be a little bit
18:25slower through the corners,
18:26but it doesn't matter.
18:26Oh, I don't think...
18:27Oh!
18:29Lounge is really
18:30aggressive at the moment.
18:32There's no doubt.
18:32Yeah, but Radisic
18:33has just got good speed
18:34around the back of the corner.
18:35When these two or three cars
18:37are tussling with each other,
18:38it gives him
18:38a two or three car break,
18:39and that's what he needs.
18:41Engel's there as well.
18:42Look at him
18:42right in the back
18:43of Lowndes now.
18:45As they exit the back
18:46of the corporate hill area,
18:47so the Castrol Commodore
18:48going quite well
18:49in fourth place.
18:49The Enforcer
18:50been a model
18:51of consistency today.
18:53Well, Radisic
18:54is wise to that challenge
18:55down the inside.
18:56If he leaves,
18:56even a centimetre
18:57of space scapes
18:57going to stuff
18:58the nose of his car
18:59up there.
19:00So Radisic
19:01is driving a very,
19:02very conservative
19:03defensive line,
19:04and he's doing it
19:05brilliantly.
19:06What a great series
19:08this is,
19:08and I mean,
19:09it's so competitive.
19:11Well, you just never know,
19:12do you, Baz?
19:12I mean, the first team
19:13was a bit of a yawn,
19:14and the second one's
19:15absolutely
19:16a cracker.
19:18There's Craig Baird,
19:20second of the Kiwis
19:21in the top ten,
19:22if you like.
19:22He currently sits
19:23in seventh place,
19:23but a Kiwi lead.
19:25Paul Radisic
19:25and now Seaton
19:26trying to have a look
19:27at Russell Engel again.
19:28He's not close enough
19:29as they come across
19:30the start-finish line.
19:31Two to go.
19:31Two to go
19:32as we jump aboard
19:33the FDR,
19:33Falcon
19:34through the sweeping
19:35left-hander.
19:37Fifth gear through here
19:38in the Fords
19:39in excess of 200km an hour
19:41that it's harder to brakes
19:42down into turn two
19:43for this double apex
19:45left-hander.
19:46They have two real bites
19:46in it here,
19:47a very late apex on it.
19:51Now,
19:51working toward turn four,
19:53you can see Seaton
19:53working away.
19:55See the way
19:55he short shifts there too.
19:57He goes
19:57third, fourth,
19:59very quickly
19:59to use the maximum
20:00torque of the engine
20:01so he's not frying up
20:02the tyres
20:02coming out of that corner.
20:05He's doing well
20:05at the moment.
20:06He's up behind this
20:07Commodore bunch
20:07but there's nothing
20:08he can do about it.
20:10Radisic
20:10he calls out the tyres.
20:12That's Cameron.
20:16It just looks like
20:17the rear end locked up
20:18and coming into there.
20:20Well, this was not over yet.
20:21Looks like
20:21Radisic's car
20:23a little bit
20:24Taylor coming out
20:25coming out under power
20:25through those corners.
20:26That's everything
20:26and hang on
20:27by his fingernails
20:29and really
20:29would be a turn up
20:30for the series.
20:31It's been absolutely
20:31hold and domination
20:32so far.
20:34Can Paul Radisic
20:35hang on?
20:36Well, bear in mind,
20:37Radisic has never won
20:38a race in the championship.
20:39He has won races,
20:41of course,
20:42in the supports
20:43to the Honda Indy
20:43but never won
20:44a championship race.
20:45Don't forget, folks,
20:46lots of action
20:46coming your way
20:47right here
20:47on your home of bonus board.
20:48Round two
20:49of the conic of the eight lights
20:50is at Phillip Island.
20:52Make sure you get there
20:52the 6th and 7th of May
20:54and if you don't
20:54you can catch all the action
20:56a week later,
20:56of course,
20:57on trackside.
20:57Round five
20:58of the Shell Championship Series.
21:00We're off to Hidden Valley
21:00in a couple of weeks
21:01looking forward to going north
21:02between three and five
21:04on the 21st of May.
21:05One lap to go
21:06for Paul Radisic.
21:07Can he pull it off?
21:08His first ever race win
21:09in the Shell Championship Series
21:11as I mentioned before.
21:13He's done it
21:13in the supports
21:14to Honda Indy.
21:15Took three from three there
21:16I think it was last year
21:17but has never done it
21:19in this series
21:19and he'll be desperately
21:20looking to do it.
21:21Unless he outbrakes himself
21:23somewhere
21:23I can't see that
21:24that Scaife is going
21:26to get past him
21:27because he keeps it
21:28nice and tight
21:29in everywhere.
21:30There's only possibility
21:31of outbraking himself
21:34down into the hairpin
21:35so he's looking good.
21:38I mean he's very quick
21:39through this long.
21:41Can't look in.
21:43Very smart on the road
21:44Baz.
21:44He's not doing anything
21:45wrong at all.
21:46Paul Radisic.
21:47The car looking
21:49just perfect.
21:50At the end of this
21:51second race
21:51we go up high
21:52with the Goodyear blimp
21:53and Radisic
21:55who was complaining
21:58about having dramas
21:58at the end of race one
21:59when he was talking
22:00to Mark Osler.
22:01Well he's turned it
22:02all around in race two
22:04now.
22:04Only a couple of corners
22:05left to go Baz.
22:06Well it's just
22:07I can't see any way
22:08I can't see any way
22:11Skapey's going to do it
22:12because there's no
22:13if he keeps it
22:14nice and tight
22:15in on the double
22:16left hand
22:17onto the start
22:17and finish
22:18horsepower wise
22:19the Ford's equally
22:20as good as the
22:20Houghton you saw
22:21top speed wise
22:23so any kind of luck
22:25it's going to be
22:26the number one
22:27for the rack
22:28his first ever win.
22:29The Ford fans
22:30in the grandstand
22:31are already on their feet
22:32because this is going
22:33to be Paul Radisic's
22:34first victory
22:35in the Shell
22:35Championship Series
22:36he takes out
22:37race two
22:38of round four
22:39of the Shell
22:40Championship Series
22:40of the Creek
22:41well done to the Kiwi
22:42there's his line
22:43for all the team
22:44they are delighted
22:46with that.
22:48Skape home second
22:49Craig Lowndes third
22:50Russell Ingle
22:50the Enforcer fourth
22:51and Glenn Seaton fifth
22:53well
22:54I've been also
22:56at last
22:58take them out
22:59Paul Radisic
23:00you've done four
23:01and New Zealand proud
23:04that's a great result
23:05that was good
23:09that was a really
23:10good drive
23:10excellent
23:11and you saw
23:13how quick
23:13his reactions were
23:15DJ's got a tear
23:16in his eye
23:17now that's an
23:18unusual sight
23:18now that's the
23:19first race win
23:20for Dick Johnson
23:21Racing
23:21since Malala
23:22in 1998
23:24so
23:24you saw
23:25team owner
23:26Dick Johnson
23:27looking on there
23:27a few moments ago
23:28a much needed win
23:31for the Shell Helix
23:32Racing Outfit
23:33who are extremely
23:34professional
23:35and a big congratulations
23:36also to team manager
23:38Dean Orr
23:38and all the boys
23:39have done a sensational job
23:40Paul Radisic
23:41takes victory
23:42in race two
23:43here at the Creek
23:44Mark Skape home second
23:45Lowndes third
23:46Russell Ingle
23:47hanging on
23:47a good consistent effort
23:48for fourth
23:49then it's Seaton Bauer
23:50Craig Baird
23:51and Tony Longhurst
23:51they are your top eight

23:58Barguana
23:59from the back
23:59of the grid
24:00that's a storming
24:01drive to 14th
24:02Ellery 15th
24:03Steve Johnson
24:03finishes 16th
24:05what career path
24:08would you have chosen
24:08if you weren't a racer
24:10probably a mechanical
24:13engineer
24:13or draftsman
24:15something like that
24:16I always like drawing
24:16a school
24:17and always draw
24:18pictures of race cars
24:19for some reason
24:19but probably something
24:20like that
24:21oh a tough one
24:23I reckon it'd be
24:23the Federal Minister
24:25for Entertainment
24:26let's party
24:26yo
24:27given I was really
24:31into bikes
24:31when I was younger
24:32I guess
24:33probably just been a biker
24:34you know
24:34go to the other end
24:35of the stream
24:35and just
24:36bummed around
24:36on a Harley
24:37I'm probably a
24:39professional windsurfer
24:40actually
24:41I really enjoyed
24:41that as a kid
24:42but I didn't actually
24:44get the opportunity
24:44to go to Hawaii
24:45definitely a movie
24:48because you know
24:49they get all the publicity
24:50all the good looking
24:51birds
24:52and you know
24:53they got all the money
24:54in the world
24:54so that'd definitely be it
24:55it was a good guy
25:00boy
25:00day
25:02but there's one
25:05big thing
25:06and so
25:07people
25:07about
25:08what's going to do
25:09is
25:11iver
