Euronews on the ground: 'Situation calm but confused' as 'everything stopped working'

In Portugal, official sources told domestic media that the outage, which hit around late morning local time, was nationwide, while similar reports emerged from Spain.

00:00I just landed here at Porto Airport in Portugal and as you can see on the board behind me there
00:05is some electricity. Many of those flights are delayed by several hours already. If I turn around
00:11then the coffee shop behind me is continuing to serve what they have in the fridges. There's no
00:15electricity there and they're doing all of their accounting by hand. The only people who seem at
00:20all concerned are the mobile phone salesmen who are guarding what's in their store. They too don't
00:25have any network at the moment or any electricity. I would say the situation is calm but confused
