00:00We're ranking every KFC menu item in the US and the UK.
00:03This is the Food Wars tier list.
00:05We'll begin by comparing items you can find in both countries, starting with the original recipe chicken.
00:10Let's break it down piece by piece.
00:12Starting down here, gonna go ahead with the drumstick.
00:16Come on, the classic.
00:18Maybe my favorite shape?
00:19Love this one, because it's like the easiest to hold, it's got a little handle here.
00:23So my thing is that I actually think the piece of chicken that you get makes a big difference to your overall KFC experience.
00:28Generally speaking, the drums I've had from KFC in the UK tend to be very soggy.
00:33Whenever I have this, I feel like a lord, right?
00:36In the 1600s, being like, yes, chicken, bring on the jester.
00:43I think compared to the other pieces as well, you get a lot more of the gristle,
00:46like that nubbin on the end of the chicken piece that it's just really unpleasant to eat.
00:50And for that, the drumstick gets A tier.
00:54For all of those reasons, I'm going to start the drumstick all the way down in D tier.
01:02A D?
01:03Are you out of your mind, Harry?
01:05Don't listen to that man.
01:06Don't listen to him.
01:07Next up, we have the thigh piece.
01:09I personally love chicken thighs.
01:11I think dark meat for me is always going to be the better option, particularly when you're frying chicken.
01:16The thigh, I mean, it feels a little bit like a smaller breast, which is like, yeah, okay.
01:19But you're getting it like right here, getting the...
01:24It's a good bite.
01:24Overall, I think the thigh piece, when it comes to the original recipe chicken here in the UK,
01:28is my favorite one.
01:29And for that reason, it's going up in A tier.
01:33It's no drumstick.
01:34I'm going with the B.
01:35The wings from a KFC in the UK aren't part of the original recipe bucket.
01:40The wings are on the menu, but they count as hot wings.
01:43I mean, it's not like a chicken wing, right?
01:45Where you're used to like, just going to town on them.
01:47The breading is different.
01:48And I actually really like these.
01:49You get these little like flecks of batter, which actually hold their crisp pretty well.
01:55This actually might be my favorite piece of chicken that is on the entire KFC menu in the UK.
02:00And for that reason, it's going right up the left here.
02:02Wings are C. You're a C piece of meat.
02:05The next original recipe piece is the keel.
02:07In case anyone's wondering what a keel is, it comes from the breast of the chicken.
02:11You see, it's kind of still got the breast bone,
02:13that kind of cartilage running straight through the middle of it.
02:15The breast, the front piece, the bad boy.
02:18Look at the size of this piece of chicken.
02:22One thing I do like about this is that the bone is actually really easy to just get rid of.
02:25So I think it's quite good in terms of like the effort to reward ratio.
02:29If I'm mobile, I want the drumsticks.
02:32If I'm sitting and having my meal, definitely going breast.
02:34So breast is going in the A tier.
02:39It's going to be B tier for me.
02:42The last original recipe piece is the chicken rib.
02:45One thing I like is that because of the shape of it,
02:47you do end up with quite a lot of like edges that can go a bit more crispy.
02:51So the batter on this is actually still kind of crispy.
02:55It's got all these bones running throughout it.
02:56So it ends up being like a bit challenging to actually get all of the meat off it cleanly,
03:00without just ending up with a mouthful of bone.
03:03I'd say for me, all in all, this probably goes into the beta with that keel.
03:07Our first boneless piece of chicken to enter the chat is, of course, a classic KFC tender.
03:13We also have mini fillets in the UK.
03:19Yes, we call them fillets, not fillets.
03:21This is effectively a chicken tender.
03:23Uh, these are fine.
03:24Slightly controversially, I actually think other places in the UK do chicken tenders better than
03:30KFC does.
03:31I think in a street fight, I would be backing the McDonald's chicken select over the KFC chicken
03:36tenders.
03:37Tenders are fantastic.
03:38Tenders is the A piece and a higher A.
03:41For me, this goes actually quite far down in C tier.
03:45Now we're onto the sandwiches, or as we call them in the UK, burgers.
03:48The default in the UK is the KFC fillet burger.
03:51It's hard to identify exactly why we call this a chicken burger here in the UK.
03:54I think it's just kind of one of those, like,
03:56unspoken rules that everyone kind of gets over here.
03:58The standard burger in the UK is a toasted sesame seed bun,
04:02a chicken fillet, lettuce, and mayo.
04:04The US version, the KFC chicken sandwich.
04:09Look, after four plus years of doing KFC stories,
04:12what else can I say about this absolutely fantastic sandwich?
04:17I've been to the UK, I've had their version of this,
04:20doesn't even touch it.
04:22I feel, overall, the KFC fried chicken sandwich is one of the best fast food chicken sandwiches,
04:30full stop.
04:32I've had all of them.
04:33I've had all of them.
04:34This is my job, people.
04:36I have had all of them.
04:37And I'm telling you, this might be the best one.
04:42It's just fine.
04:43It's okay.
04:44It's a bit dry.
04:45There's mayo on the bottom bun,
04:46and they've been relatively generous with it.
04:48But I think it needs more.
04:49I think even, like, mayo both sides might help this.
04:54Amazing taste in the chicken.
04:56Perfectly balanced with the mayo.
04:58I don't even mind the pickles.
04:59And of course, I believe this is a brioche bun.
05:02Chicken sandwich perfection.
05:04All right?
05:04Hey, fight about it in the comments.
05:07I ain't gonna read them.
05:08I think for me, just because it's kind of very standard and very normal,
05:11this will go in B tier.
05:15Standing up out of frame to decree that this is the first entry into the KFC S tier.
05:23Yay!
05:25Hooray!
05:27Actually, yeah.
05:27No, on second thoughts.
05:28The more I chew that and the less moisture I have in my mouth,
05:31I actually think I've made a mistake there.
05:33This can go further down.
05:34We have our first borderline ranking in the UK.
05:36It's a B slash C.
05:40In both countries, we also have a smaller version of the chicken sandwich.
05:43Here is our mini fillet burger.
05:45The chicken little.
05:46It is little, all right.
05:48I don't know who this is for.
05:50Maybe you're getting a regular KFC meal.
05:52You want to, like, have this as an appetizer.
05:54Like, you eat this driving home because you can't eat fried chicken and drive.
05:57At least you shouldn't.
06:00If anything, that's even more dry somehow.
06:02So I think that one's actually going to go down in C.
06:05Put in the chicken little.
06:07Low B tier.
06:08Almost C.
06:09Here are the UK signature fries from KFC.
06:11I almost feel bad for KFC at this point because they have been bullied into changing their fries
06:16recipe like three times, I think.
06:18And they're still not great.
06:20But here they are, the fries.
06:22Maybe my favorite fast food fries.
06:24Come at me, internet.
06:30They're actually not that bad.
06:31Like, the seasoning mix is good.
06:32I think for me, it's more of a texture thing.
06:34And they just tend to be a bit more on the soggy side.
06:36These are fantastic fries.
06:37I love them.
06:38I'm debating, are these A tier or S tier?
06:41I guess I'll stay A, but I'm going to be, like, up here.
06:45KFC fries, I think, are moving in the right direction.
06:47But for me, are still not there.
06:48And honestly, I think they're a C tier.
06:54Here are the UK KFC mashed potatoes.
06:56I'm going to be honest, I don't think I've ever had these before.
06:58This is interesting.
06:59If I turn out to love these, then maybe they will become a regular part of my order.
07:04Not half bad.
07:05The texture is very smooth, if a little bit solid for my liking.
07:09Flavor-wise, they're really not bad.
07:11We're probably looking at, like, a solid, solid beat here for the KFC mash.
07:16Next up, we have KFC's Famous Gravy.
07:18I personally adore this stuff.
07:19I think it's fantastic.
07:20We do have a big gravy culture here in the UK.
07:23I could just drink this from the cup, and I'm going to.
07:26It's got that interesting texture, which I think is mostly just like cornstarch.
07:33A little bit more gloopy, maybe, than Brits are used to from gravy.
07:35My only question about the KFC gravy is why it's classed as a side rather than a sauce.
07:39Coming into today's episode, I was ready to give this an S tier.
07:42But actually, I think that would be slightly overselling it.
07:45So I think it's going to be a little borderline S slash A tier.
07:49The mashed potatoes are fine, right?
07:54Good flavor to them.
07:55But what these potatoes could use is, of course, some gravy.
07:58Can I just take a hit of gravy?
08:02Yeah, the mashed potatoes and gravy together are a really good classic combo, right?
08:07Who doesn't love mashed potatoes and gravy?
08:08The mashed potatoes and the gravy together, that's an A tier side.
08:11Possibly an S tier side.
08:13But separately, as we're doing everything one at a time?
08:16Sorry, guys.
08:17You're like Outkast.
08:19Better together than separate.
08:21So here you go.
08:23You're in the B tier.
08:25When mashed potatoes and gravy decide to do another album together,
08:28they'll be back in the A tier.
08:29But for now, no, sorry, guys.
08:30The solo projects ain't working.
08:32One thing I do want to try is combining the gravy with the mash,
08:34because I know that's an American thing,
08:35and it's not as much of a thing at fast food places over here.
08:40I've been doing fast food videos for like four years now,
08:42and I don't think I've done this before at a UK KFC.
08:45This is really good.
08:46The gravy with the mash, if that was a menu item,
08:48I might be looking at Esther, you know?
08:49To be clear, I've absolutely combined gravy and mashed potatoes before.
08:53What I'm saying is, in a meal at KFC, I don't think I've ever done it.
08:56And then our final side is coleslaw.
08:58Coleslaw, I mean, eh.
09:01It always smells kind of weird.
09:04This upsets me quite a lot.
09:06Oh, you get a tiny little cautious mouthful.
09:09Actually, it's pretty good coleslaw.
09:13I'm going C, baby.
09:14C tier on the slaw.
09:19Anytime mayo has been sat in a bag right next to a bunch of hot food,
09:23it's just not worth selling.
09:24It's really bad.
09:26It's actually going to be our first E tier.
09:28Now it's time for the sauces, which means it's time for the...
09:30Sauce Talk Tiny Board.
09:34Sauce Talk Tiny Board.
09:37Enough of that nonsense.
09:39This is a serious show.
09:40The first sauce we have here in the UK is the Spicy Supercharger Mayo.
09:44I think spicy mayo in general is like one of my favorite condiments.
09:47And I think KFC actually does a really good job of producing one.
09:50So for me, straight up in Esther.
09:52The KFC Sticky Chicky.
09:56I don't know what that goes good with.
09:57I'm going to put that in a C tier.
09:59Next up, we have a sweet chili dip.
10:01I was kind of split on like A or B for this,
10:03so I might go somewhere in the middle.
10:04We'll go for a nice A slash B.
10:07Moving on, next thing we got is the KFC sauce.
10:12I feel like it's like a buffalo ranch mustard.
10:16Whatever it is, I do like it.
10:17It's KFC sauce.
10:18It's an A. Bing.
10:20Next up, we have a real tomato sauce,
10:23as opposed to all the imaginary tomato sauces that other places sell.
10:26I'm curious about this one because KFC does have ketchup
10:28on its menu, and I want to see how different this is to just a regular ketchup.
10:33I was hoping to conclusively get proof that this is different or better
10:36when compared to ketchup, but honestly, it's not.
10:38I'm not really sure why you would have that on the menu when ketchup exists.
10:42So for me, we're actually going to have a A tier sauce.
10:46Pointless.
10:47Classic ranch.
10:48Ugh, ranch.
10:49This country and ranch is perfectly fine.
10:51It's the epitome of middle of the road.
10:53So I'm going to put it in the middle of the board.
10:57Ranch could disappear tomorrow, and I honestly wouldn't notice.
10:59Next, we have a garlic buttermilk mayo.
11:01It's really good.
11:03It's somewhere between, like, a garlic mayo and a ranch.
11:06I think a solid A tier for the garlic buttermilk mayo.
11:08Someone over at KFC was like, why don't we just add buffalo sauce to ranch?
11:12Better, an improvement, but I don't know.
11:16And then here we have a smoky barbecue dip.
11:19I'm not typically a barbecue sauce guy, but honestly, like, of all the barbecue sauces
11:23I've had from fast food places, that ranks really highly.
11:25Still not my favorite, but that's kind of a personal preference thing.
11:27I think this has earned a spot in B tier.
11:29Yeah, barbecue, I mean, as far as fast food, barbecue, just no specific region.
11:35Eh, it's a B.
11:37KFC in the UK also stocks Heinz ketchup and Heinz mayo.
11:40Fried chicken and ketchup to me just isn't a pairing that particularly works.
11:44So we'll put that one down in C tier.
11:46And last but not least, we have classic mayo, which I think for me is just going to be D tier.
11:49I don't like honey mustard. I mean, I don't hate it.
11:52I think out of all these, I would pick honey mustard last.
11:55I'm going D. High D, a D plus.
11:57But honey mustard, get out of here.
11:59All right. The last three, honey, hot sauce, and ketchup.
12:03Honey. I mean, who am I rating here?
12:07Bs? I might have printed out two of the same one.
12:10This doesn't look like honey, but this represents honey.
12:13It's honey straight from the hive, I assume.
12:16It's fantastic.
12:17So I'm going to give the honey sauce a high A.
12:20Not an S though.
12:21Work harder, Bs. Make it sweeter.
12:23Hot sauce, you know, KFC, don't sleep on this hot sauce.
12:27They don't really push it on people, but if you want to give your chicken some nice heat to it,
12:30I definitely recommend the hot sauce.
12:32So that's also going to go in the A tier, along with the honey that the Bs made.
12:37That's right.
12:38Maybe make some hot sauce, Bs.
12:40You ever think about that?
12:41And last, but not least, ketchup.
12:43I'm going to go ahead and put the Heinz Corporation's flagship product in the S tier.
12:50Oh, just because I mean it's ketchup.
12:53Actually, no.
12:54I can't put ketchup in S tier and then honey in A. A naturally occurring thing in the environment
13:03isn't as good as man-made ketchup, so that's going to go A too.
13:06I give the Bs a break because we're slowly killing them all in our environment.
13:10These sauces are made to pair with so many different things in the menu
13:13and also please such a wide audience.
13:15So everything being concentrated in the A and B area for both here and the UK, it makes sense.
13:21Unsurprisingly, we have some exclusive chicken items here on the UK menu.
13:24We're starting with a classic, which is popcorn chicken.
13:27I still don't really understand why these disappeared from the US menu a couple of years ago,
13:30because for me, they are so iconic to KFC.
13:33We don't have nuggets over here on the UK menu, but I don't miss them,
13:36because popcorn chicken for me fills that same role and does it very well.
13:39For me, these are a solid A tier.
13:41Ladies and gentlemen, maybe the most crucial menu item for KFC.
13:48I haven't been around the world, but I've definitely been to the UK,
13:52and I know for a fact that still, for some reason, they do not have this extra crispy fried chicken.
14:01I mean, I want to start an online petition for this to be the regular standard chicken,
14:06and then everything else is just like, you get it less crispy.
14:10I love this so much. It's so fantastic.
14:15Because this chicken is extra crispy, I even went ahead and made it an extra crispy meme.
14:19How do you like that?
14:20And it is, of course, the second edition to the coveted S tier.
14:25I know the UK likes to snub their nose at our fast food.
14:28Oh, oi, mate. It's too many chemicals.
14:30Oi, mate. It's like a chemistry class.
14:32Oi, mate.
14:32And other stuff.
14:34Fine.
14:34But when you come to our country, just get the extra crispy.
14:37KFC execs, if you happen to be watching this, Colonel Sanders, if you're watching this,
14:41please give the UK the extra crispy chicken.
14:44That is how fast food fried chicken should be.
14:46Ours is not like that, and I want it to be.
14:48KFC, they had popcorn chicken for a while, then they didn't,
14:50and then they switched to this, made it bigger, and they call it nuggets.
14:53This is one of the nuggets right here.
14:54Everyone see that? Nugget, right?
14:57These are really good. I think they're the perfect size.
14:59There's really good pieces of meat, you know, good breading.
15:02And overall, I think nuggets here are fantastic.
15:05The KFC nuggets, which this image has sauce on us.
15:07I think I grabbed the wrong one, but this represents the KFC nuggets.
15:11Ooh, another S-tier entry. Yeah!
15:15So we don't have nuggets here in the UK, but what we do have are these dipped bites.
15:19They come in two flavors.
15:20Here we have the Kansas barbecue dipped bites,
15:23and you can also get sweet chili dipped bites.
15:26I've said it before, and I'll say it again now, I don't like these.
15:28I don't mind a bit of sauce on my chicken.
15:30I would go so far as to say I like a bit of sauce on my chicken,
15:33but this is way too much.
15:34I was going to put these in D-tier,
15:36but honestly, just like having seen them again and trying them,
15:39they just make me annoyed.
15:40Like, what was the game plan here?
15:43He's going E.
15:44KFC is currently, and I don't know if it's a permanent menu thing,
15:48doing like these saucy nuggets.
15:49A little annoying that the new menu items are just literally a sauce
15:52pouring in on something else, but I mean,
15:54considering they've been doing the famous bowl for a while,
15:56KFC is not shy for just taking one thing and another thing,
15:59sticking it together and being like,
16:01behold, the new menu item.
16:02I mean, even this one right here,
16:03you can see they didn't even like get the whole thing covered.
16:05They just poured it — you see that?
16:05They just poured it on there.
16:06I think this is Korean barbecue?
16:09That is so salty.
16:10I think I'm going D on this one.
16:11Oh, man.
16:12This is the honey barbecue.
16:14Maybe honey can save this one?
16:16I really think it's the barbecue.
16:18D.
16:19They were supposed to give us a honey sriracha.
16:21Unfortunately, some happened.
16:23We don't have the honey sriracha ones,
16:24but I did try them during a KFC 2.0 episode,
16:29which came out a few weeks ago,
16:30which you haven't watched yet.
16:32Watch after this.
16:33Put them into a playlist and send it to all your friends.
16:35But when I did have the honey sriracha back then,
16:38I was not impressed.
16:39Honey sriracha for this one,
16:40I'll be kind and put it in the C tier.
16:43Let's try this one.
16:45Ooh, mango habanero.
16:47Oh, my goodness.
16:48The Colonel just shut me up smack.
16:51Wow, these are spicier than I thought they were going to be.
16:53Now, the sweetness of the mango, to me,
16:56is much better than the sweetness of the honey.
16:58Again, these, please.
17:00I am an ally.
17:02But with the honey flavor,
17:03it's, like, too just, like, sweet, like, sugary,
17:07where the mango habanero gives it a nice fruit flavor
17:10that pairs perfectly with the spiciness of the habanero.
17:13I actually really like that.
17:14So for that mango habanero,
17:16oh, you're getting an A, baby.
17:19There's hope for these nuggets.
17:21Moving on.
17:22Honey garlic.
17:23That's actually pretty good.
17:24Let me give that an A.
17:27And last but not least,
17:29Chipotle ranch.
17:31It's actually pretty good.
17:32I'm very surprised by that.
17:34That also gets an A tier.
17:37Wow.
17:38So I guess the lesson here is
17:39some of the sauces are good.
17:41Some of them are borderline inedible.
17:44Wide variety going on here.
17:45The UK KFC menu has a ton of exclusive burgers.
17:48Still not sandwiches.
17:49Generally, what they've done is take that same chicken fillet
17:51and add a few different ingredients each time.
17:53The first one is the Fillet Tower Burger.
17:55When you see tower burger on the menu in the UK,
17:57that means they've added some sauce,
17:59some cheese,
18:00and a hash brown.
18:04For me, the addition of the hash brown,
18:05as well as that additional sauce,
18:07does help to combat some of the dryness issues
18:09that the regular fillet burger faces.
18:10Also, with the hash brown being there,
18:12it definitely bulks it out a bit.
18:13It feels very satisfying as a burger.
18:14I think overall, this is an improvement on the regular one.
18:16I actually think this is going to be an A tier burger.
18:19Next up, we have the Barbecue Fillet Tower Burger.
18:21Exactly the same, but instead of a tomato sauce on the top,
18:23they add some barbecue sauce.
18:25I'm putting this one down to personal preference,
18:26but for me, I prefer the tomato compared to the barbecue.
18:29So this can be a B tier.
18:30Here, we have the Zinger Supercharger Tower Burger.
18:33A few things to break down there.
18:34The Zinger refers to the seasoning on the patty itself.
18:37A Zinger sandwich is like our version of a spicy chicken sandwich.
18:40Combine that with the Supercharger Mayo that they add as the condiment on this one,
18:43and you have yourself a serious burger.
18:47I think all in all for me,
18:48this is probably the best sandwich on the menu at a UK KFC.
18:51And for that reason, we have another S tier.
18:57Speaking of Zingers, we also have a regular Zinger Burger.
19:00Same composition as the Fillet Burger, but with that spicier breading.
19:02It does suffer from that same lack of moisture that the regular Fillet Burger does,
19:06but the flavor of the Zinger, I think, is enough for me to take it to A tier.
19:10And then finally, we have the Zinger Stacker.
19:13This thing is an absolute unit.
19:15Look at it.
19:17The Stacker refers to the fact that there are two chicken fillets in this one.
19:20You're also getting the sauce on top of it,
19:22which in this case, I think is actually the sweet chili one.
19:24There's cheese on the top and also the middle layers,
19:27and there is Supercharger Mayo underneath.
19:30I mean, that is a serious burger.
19:32Just the size of it is impressive, but also because you're getting the sweet chili
19:35and the Supercharger and the Zinger breading,
19:38got a real spice to it, which I really appreciate.
19:40Lettuce, mayo, cheese, all playing their part.
19:42It's really good.
19:43And I think, honestly, I'm enjoying Apeneste, you know?
19:47The only exclusive sandwich we have here in the US is the spicy chicken sandwich.
19:51Folks, how can you improve on an arguably perfect chicken sandwich?
19:56I'll tell you how.
19:58I'm making it spicy.
19:59I really love this sandwich.
20:00Oh, what a fantastic sandwich.
20:04I love it so much, I shall stand up out of frame once again to declare this sandwich.
20:10Also, booyah, S tier.
20:14We also have a range of Twister Wraps here in the UK.
20:16Thinking about it, I'm not sure where the twist element comes into these
20:19because they are just wrapped like a normal burrito, but hey.
20:21The Twister Wraps are fundamentally the same,
20:23but the sauce changes depending on which one you get.
20:25For example, here we have the Supercharger Twister Wrap.
20:28It's a flour tortilla with a chicken fillet, a slaw, which is made with red cabbage,
20:32carrot, and some other vegetables, and then a sauce.
20:34This one has the Supercharger sauce on it.
20:38They're really not bad.
20:39I actually like the way that they've toasted the flour tortilla.
20:42You get like a little bit of that char on the outside.
20:44I think they could maybe have had a little bit more sauce,
20:46because it is slightly on the dry side with that chicken, with the tortilla.
20:49But the sauce is pretty good.
20:50It adds a bit of crunch, a bit of freshness.
20:51I think for the Supercharged Mayo one, I'm going to go with an A slash B.
20:57The Smoky BBQ one probably, again, comes below that, mostly on personal preference.
21:02And the Sweet Chili Wrap, probably another A slash B.
21:05We also have a Flaming Mini Wrap on the menu.
21:08I'm not sure exactly what makes this flamin'.
21:10It seems to have mayo and Supercharger mayo on there,
21:12along with some lettuce instead of that slaw.
21:17It's got a charm to it, but in the sense that it's like something
21:20you would make yourself as a child, if left alone in the kitchen.
21:23So I think this is probably going to be a C tier item.
21:26When it comes to exclusive sides, we only have a couple here in the UK.
21:29Firstly, we have corn on the cob.
21:31I actually really like KFC's corn.
21:33Hard to explain why exactly, because it is just kind of corn on the cob.
21:36It's not particularly seasoned.
21:38It's not particularly buttery, but I just kind of like it.
21:41Exclusive sides, we got a few.
21:44Starting down here, the KFC famous Sweet Corn.
21:48What makes it exclusive?
21:49KFC over there in the UK, they got the corn on the cob, our corn off the cob.
21:54Corn, come on, it's corn.
21:58It's just always very juicy.
21:59It's always sweet.
22:00I think I'm probably going to put this in a nice B slash C tier.
22:06Man, I like corn.
22:06Yeah, complete the meal right here.
22:08Let's put an A tier.
22:09Probably not to the surprise of Americans, we have baked beans on the menu at a UK KFC.
22:13These are slightly different to normal UK baked beans in that they are slightly less tomatoey
22:18and sweet compared to like a Heinz baked beans, for example.
22:23They are pretty good.
22:23As far as like sides for fast food go, could be worse.
22:28Struggling with where to put these, you know.
22:30They are tasty.
22:31I question them as a fast food side and they are different to the beans that most Brits would be used to.
22:36So I think actually they might join corn on that borderline, that B slash C.
22:40Next up, mac and cheese.
22:42Oh boy.
22:43I look forward to this.
22:44The mac and cheese at KFC.
22:47Come on.
22:49Creamy, cheesy, delicious, moist, flavorful.
22:53All the adjectives.
22:54Here we go.
22:55Oh, gotta stand all the way up.
22:57Because the mac and cheese is BST.
23:02Onto this monstrosity.
23:04I can't believe it's still around.
23:05This is a tub of mashed potatoes topped with gravy, chicken nuggets, corn, and cheese.
23:13It was better when they had popcorn chicken because the popcorn chicken sizes are smaller.
23:18Like this, they get everything in a bite.
23:20Look how big, look how big the chicken is on this.
23:22I really think that this is just a nightmare.
23:25I'm gonna be straight up with you.
23:28I'm sick of this thing.
23:29I'm sick of it.
23:30I think it's bad.
23:31I've never met a person who gets this regularly.
23:35If you're an American in America and you get this regularly,
23:38please tell us in the comments and defend it.
23:41I don't get it.
23:41No one ever gets this.
23:43I'm sorry, KFC.
23:44I love you and I want to defend you as much as I can, Colonel.
23:47But this thing, there's no defending it.
23:50That's a D, baby.
23:52D, a pot pie.
23:54I mean, this thing, this itself is also a meal.
23:58They make a pretty good pot pie here.
24:00The stew, whatever holds it all together, has a nice flavor to it.
24:02The chicken pieces, you know, succulent.
24:05Nice, big, juicy pieces of chicken in there.
24:07And all the other stuff.
24:08And the pastry on here, low-key fantastic.
24:11It is really good.
24:12Like, I could just, like, snack on this as a pastry.
24:14Mmm.
24:15I don't envision myself ever really getting the pot pie very often,
24:18but whenever I get it for the show, I'm pleasantly surprised by it.
24:21I'll put it firmly in the B category.
24:24Here are the UK salad options.
24:25These are split into a couple of categories.
24:27We have rice boxes and salad boxes.
24:29Gonna be honest, not excited by this section at all.
24:32We'll start with this one, the original recipe rice box.
24:34You get the seasoned rice, you get a chicken fillet,
24:37and then you have salad as well.
24:39The salad part consists of lettuce, tomato, and corn covered in salad dressing.
24:43I think this is technically kidney beans in the corner.
24:46So that one is the original recipe rice box,
24:48but you can also get a Zinger version with the spicier chicken.
24:50And you can also just get a veg box,
24:52which is the beans, rice, and salad with no meat.
24:56Just because I'm kind of questioning, like, why they're here, who they're for.
25:00I'll go D tier for the regular one.
25:02I'm gonna go C slash D for the Zinger one,
25:05just because the addition of the Zinger chicken at least has a bit more flavor to it.
25:08And for the veg box, that's a big ol' E tier.
25:13You can also get salad boxes, which are the same as these,
25:16but without the rice, so you just have the chicken and the salad.
25:18You can get that in both the original recipe form and in Zinger form.
25:22I actually think this is almost slightly better than the rice box.
25:26I think you could kind of eat this and convince yourself you were eating,
25:28like, a chicken Caesar or something like that if you really were delusional.
25:33So I think I'll put these ones probably in D tier as well, to be honest.
25:38For the original recipe salad box, we'll go D tier.
25:41And for the Zinger salad box, this is a generous CD.
25:45If for whatever reason you have not had your fill of disgusting salads,
25:48then you also have a side salad option.
25:50This is the garden salad.
25:52It's the same stuff that you find.
25:54Oh, God.
25:55It's the same stuff that you find on the rice boxes.
25:58Although this one doesn't seem to have any sauce on it.
26:00I actually really love this.
26:01This is probably one of my favorite things on the menu.
26:03So it's going straight down in D tier.
26:05Psych! Got ya.
26:06And you can also get just a side of the rice.
26:09I think this is the worst side option on the menu by some margin at KFC.
26:13So I think this one is also going pretty firmly in D tier.
26:16We have no salads here. Hooray!
26:19Our KFC does have a few exclusive dessert items.
26:22Unfortunately, I was only able to get one today.
26:24And that is this, the chocolate chip cake.
26:27Assuming this is geared towards at least two people, but probably a family.
26:32I think it's interesting.
26:32This is one of the only fast food places we've covered that gives you like a whole cake, right?
26:37I don't have a fork.
26:40It looks like it doesn't have a lot of frosting on it, right?
26:42But it does actually have a really nice frosting flavor to it.
26:45Like it doesn't need any more.
26:47The cake is nice, but a whole one, I don't want a whole cake of this.
26:49I would just like one portion to finish my meal off with.
26:52So because of that, I do think it is a pretty good effort of a cake.
26:56So I'm going to go ahead.
26:59I'm going to need to go B, B tier.
27:01We do have a dessert option that you can't find in America, and it's the cookie.
27:04Here is the choc chip cookie from UKKFC.
27:06It looks pretty good.
27:07Let's give it a try.
27:10It's actually a really good cookie.
27:11Got that nice balance where the center is quite gooey.
27:13Outside, like a little bit crispy.
27:15Pretty good chocolate chip cookie.
27:16Honestly, I think that's going to be an A tier.
27:18Not quite good enough to be S, but a worthy addition for sure.
27:22I was told they had white choc chip cookies and the menu said that they did,
27:25but unfortunately they didn't give us any today.
27:27So we'll just have to imagine this as slightly worse because white choc chip is ultimately worse.
27:31Exclusive drinks down here in the end.
27:34The legendary Mountain Dew Sweet Lightning.
27:40What is it?
27:41It's like sticking your tongue in an electrical socket and then biting into a peach.
27:47I don't know what else to tell you.
27:48If your car battery every day, just dump this on.
27:51You're able to jumpstart it.
27:52No problem.
27:52Good lord.
27:53It's the most ridiculous beverage I think we've ever had on any Food Wars episode.
27:58And I absolutely love it.
28:00I'm not going to go S all the way.
28:02I'm going to go right there.
28:03And if you want your Sweet Lightning unpeached,
28:08got regular Mountain Dew, y'all.
28:11I don't know.
28:11Mountain Dew, it's a strong B.
28:13Now in the UK, their lemonade is like closer to our Sprite or 7up.
28:18It's a carbonated lemon beverage.
28:20Our lemonade is, well, it's not juice.
28:23It's closer to juice because it's not carbonated.
28:25And it has more of a tart, lemony flavor to it.
28:29It's just the perfect beverage for fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, all of it.
28:35So KFC's lemonade, S tier.
28:39Sweet tea.
28:40They love their tea over there in the UK.
28:42Here, though, our tea has to just have a lot of sugar in it if it's iced.
28:47It's also a B.
28:48Last and not least, Starry.
28:51That's what I remember 7up tasting like, and I do not like 7up.
28:54So I'm going to go ahead and go E for Starry.
28:56KFC in the UK stocks Pepsi drinks.
28:58I didn't want to bore you all with my thoughts on Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, and Pepsi Max,
29:01but I did want to talk quickly about Tango.
29:03Tango in the UK is like Pepsi's alternative to Fanta.
29:06It's an orange-flavored drink.
29:07I do like Tango.
29:08I think I maybe slightly prefer Fanta in a straight shootout between the two.
29:11But Tango is a pretty classic British beverage.
29:13If any Americans come to the UK, it's worth trying things like Fanta and Tango
29:16because we do make them with different ingredients,
29:18and I think generally they are much better.
29:20Our one beverage for me, I think Tango will go into B tier.
29:23You know, looking at my tier list now, complete,
29:26this does make a lot of sense to me.
29:27I noticed that a majority of the items are up at the top in the S and the A.
29:32You know, I've always been a KFC fan.
29:34Looking at S tier, that's pretty much what I get when I go to KFC.
29:37Extra Crispy, one of the sandwiches.
29:39I love the mac and cheese.
29:40I've noticed that the more experimental KFC gets, the less I like it.
29:45You know, at the top, if I'm saying anything here,
29:48it's like, hey guys, stick to the classics.
29:51You do fried chicken and the sides and the sandwiches really well,
29:54but your sauces and your new beverages, those can go.
29:58I think generally speaking, I'm pretty happy with my rankings.
30:00The highest concentration of items seems to be around the B tier,
30:03slightly leaning into the A as well.
30:05Obviously, all the rice boxes and salads have come in pretty low,
30:07as well as those dipped bites, which honestly, I think are just awful.
30:10One thing that's really interesting to me is actually seeing that I prefer the burgers on
30:13average to the chicken itself.
30:15I think the chicken in the UK does still leave quite a lot to be desired.
30:18It's just not that crispy.
30:19It's a little bit gristly.
30:20There's just a lot of room for improvement there.
30:22I'm really surprised to see Joe putting so many things in S and A over there.
30:25It's a much top heavier ranking than mine is.
30:27My broad and slightly unsubstantiated take on KFC is that it just hasn't had that much competition
30:32in the UK for very long.
30:33For a while, they've kind of had a monopoly.
30:35Brits haven't been used to fried chicken, so we didn't really know what to expect.
30:38We are now starting to see places like Popeyes and Jollibee pop up in the UK more,
30:41and I'm hoping that the increased competition keeps KFC on their toes
30:44and they keep improving their recipes.
