Trump touts 100-day achievements in Michigan amid concerns about economy  President Donald Trump touted what he described as a series of major economic wins and forcefully attacked Democrats, including former President Joe Biden, during a rally in Michigan on Tuesday, April 29, an event meant to commemorate his first 100 days in office.  The rally in the politically competitive state, the hub of the US auto industry, was the largest event hosted by the Republican since his January 20 inauguration.  Americans have cooled on aspects of Trump's performance in recent weeks. In particular, people are fretting about Trump's economic stewardship amid stubborn inflation and his administration's aggressive moves to slap tariffs on almost every country in the world. 00:13and they're talking to us all day and all night.

00:19And I want to thank the autoworkers for your support.

00:22And we're here tonight in the heartland of our nation

00:25to celebrate the most successful first 100 days

00:28of any administration in the history of our country.

00:33And that's according to many, many people.

00:37This is the best, they say, 100 day start

00:40of any president in history.

00:42And everyone is saying it.

00:43We're just, we've just gotten started.

00:46You haven't even seen anything yet.

00:48It's all just kicking in.

00:50And week by week, we're ending illegal immigration.

00:53We're taking back our jobs

00:58and protecting our great American autoworkers

01:00and all of our workers, frankly.

01:02We're protecting all of our workers.

01:03We're restoring the rule of law,

01:07which was sort of out the window with this crazy guy we had.

01:11How the hell did that guy ever become president?

01:14Could somebody explain to me?

01:16But we're ending the inflation nightmare,

01:18the worst that we've had probably in the history of our country,

01:21getting woke lunacy and transgender insanity

01:25the hell out of our government.

01:31We're stopping the indoctrination of our children,

01:34slashing billions and billions of dollars

01:37of waste, fraud, and abuse.

01:39And above all, we're saving the American dream.

01:42We're making America great again.

01:43And it's happening fast, too.

01:45But they have no control over those people.

01:47They have no control.

01:48And the reason is they've lost their confidence.

01:51They have no confidence anymore as a party.

01:54They have no candidates.

01:55And, you know, when they say that Bernie,

01:58Bernie is probably the best they have.

02:00By the way, he's about seven years older than me,

02:02more, eight years older.

02:05One thing, I got to give him credit.

02:07He's a lunatic, but he's still pretty sharp.

02:09And we had four great years.

02:11We had the greatest economy in the history of our country.

02:13The stock market went up 88 percent.

02:15We did great.

02:17And we're going to do better now,

02:19because now we're really — we learned a little bit.

02:22After years of leaders who sent your money

02:24to defend the borders of distant foreign nations,

02:27that's what we did.

02:28We'd fight for other nations, but not for ourselves.

02:31You finally have a champion for workers in the White House.

02:34And instead of putting China first,

02:36I'm putting Michigan first, and I'm putting America first.

02:48After a lifetime of unelected bureaucrats

02:50stealing your paychecks, attacking your values,

02:53and trampling your freedoms,

02:55we are stopping their gravy train,

02:57ending their power trip,

02:59and telling thousands of corrupt, incompetent,

03:03and unnecessary deep-stake bureaucrats, you're fired.

03:12Nothing will stop me and the mission

03:14to keep America safe again.

03:38that I have a Fed person

03:40who's not really doing a good job,

03:42but I won't say that.

03:43I want to be very nice.

03:45I want to be very nice and respectful to the Fed.

03:49You're not supposed to criticize the Fed.

03:51You're supposed to let him do his own thing.

03:52But I know much more than he does about interest rates,

03:55believe me.

03:56For the first time in recent memory,

03:58job gains for native-born Americans

04:00now exceed job gains for foreign workers.

04:03This is for the first time,

04:05and nobody even knows when,

04:07Americans now are doing better than foreign workers.

04:10How about that?

04:11I mean, that's okay.

04:12I want the foreign — I want everyone to do well,

04:14but that's okay.

04:15So I want to just let you know

04:16you're going to be very proud of this country very soon.

04:19And with my China tariffs,

04:21we're ending the greatest job theft

04:23in the history of the world.

04:24China has taken more jobs from us

04:26than any country has ever taken from another country.

04:29And that doesn't mean we're not going to get along.

04:31We'll get along with China.

04:33I mean, their tariff now is at 145 percent.

04:36So, essentially, that's a big difference

04:40between that and zero.

04:43But I think it's going to work out.

04:45They want to make a deal, and they're going to —

04:46we're going to make a deal.

04:47But it's going to be a fair deal.

04:48It's not going to be a deal that we lose

04:50a trillion dollars a year, like they did with Biden.

05:20And then, that's going to make a deal,

05:23and it's going to be a huge piece of everything.
