This is the moment a flock of 1,200 ducks paraded through a wine estate on their daily commute to the vineyards, where they help protect the grapevines by feeding on pests.

Mark Cromhout, 57, was at the Vergenoegd Löw Wine Estate in Cape Town, South Africa, on April 29, 2025, when he witnessed the parade of Indian runner ducks.

The flock makes its way through the estate from the pond to the vineyard at 9 a.m. every day and returns at noon.

The ducks are used as a natural form of pest control—clearing the vineyards of snails and insects as they enjoy a delicious breakfast.

This eco-friendly method reduces the need for harmful chemical pesticides.
