00:00There is huge and growing anticipation for the government's Vienteng Bigas meron na rice to hit the megacity.

00:06And hundreds of thousands of eager and excited customers will rush and form lines to the right and left of the outlets,

00:13distributing the cheapest staple grain in the market, which her Mary-Vel Custodio enumerates in this report.

00:55The number of locations in Metro Manila, set to Lajabenteng Bigas Meron na program, has increased from 8 to 19.

01:01This includes Kamuning Public Market in Cason City, Bagong Sinang FaceTime Public Market in Caloocan,

01:07Navotas Agora Complex, and New Las Piñas Public Market.

01:11More locations will sell 20 pesos per kilo rice starting May 15, including Phil Fida in Las Piñas,

01:18the Bureau of Land Industry in Malati, Manila, Bureau of Animal Industry in Cason City,

01:23Disiplina Village in Ugong, Valenzuela City, Midway Park in Caloocan, and even in Ingayan, Pangasinan.

01:29The buying price of palay will remain at 24 pesos per kilo to avoid losses for farmers.

01:35To make it more affordable to consumers, the government will subsidize the price of rice from the National Food Authority,

01:41bringing it down to 20 pesos per kilo.

01:44According to the officials from the NFA Warehouse in Valenzuela and Food Terminal Incorporated,

01:49they remain on standby for the Department of Agriculture's mandate to roll out the 20 pesos NFA rice.

01:56Meanwhile, the national government is planning to adopt the 20 pesos rice distribution system in Cebu,

02:01where a mobile application will be used for the distribution of rice through the Kadiwa na Panguli Program.

02:08Only minimal changes will be made to the app to align with the National Rice Distribution System.

02:13These efforts are in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the food security for all.
