00:00We'll focus here first, an overtime victory in game number one for the Hurricanes,
00:04two to one last night. Defensive struggle. How did this game play out? And was it any
00:08surprise, Pete, on the end of it, that it was the Hurricanes taking game number one?
00:13So going into this series, we knew that the goaltending was stingy on both ends of the ice,
00:19you know, whether you're talking about Washington, making quick work of Montreal
00:23in surprising fashion in the first round. I thought Montreal could have maybe pulled the upset,
00:27but they just had amazing goaltending from Logan Thompson. And then on the other side,
00:31you always have that structured possession dominant style of the Carolina Hurricanes.
00:36But coming into the series, there was some injury concerns surrounding Freddie Anderson.
00:41Game one went in the way of the Hurricanes in terms of the shots on goal. Heavy advantage for them.
00:47That's not surprising at all. But for Carolina to finish the job and win that game one on the road
00:54in an overtime fashion, just, I think, can show everybody that, hey, this is not going to be
01:00what the regular season was, which was a dominant performance by the Washington Capitals.
01:05The better possession team historically this year, this first game, is the Carolina Hurricanes.
01:12If they could finish on some of these chances with some of the young players in their lineup,
01:16like Stankoven scored another goal in game one. He's been a stud this postseason.
01:21A Carolina could easily get to the conference final. I wouldn't be surprised by that based on game one.
