00:00A zebra never changes its stripes, right?
00:04And like you hear Chris Rock, if you've been a crackhead and you're in your 60s,
00:07you're probably going to finish your life as a crackhead.
00:10That's the Chris Rock, right?
00:11Then there's the other one of like, people do change and it's never too late to change.
00:15And, you know, my dad was an individual who changed his life later as an older individual.
00:20And so I believe in sobriety and if you get the right infrastructure and stuff like you,
00:24you can change your life and it's never too late to change.
00:27I fall somewhere in the middle, right?
00:28Like, depends on the individual.
00:30The problem with the Dre thing is that every time we feel like we've turned a corner and there is change,
00:36we have a big slip up of the most inopportune time.
00:39And I just thought that yesterday we just needed a better version of him.
00:42Bonte, good morning.
00:44How you doing?
00:45How we feeling?
00:46Huh?
00:47Doing all right?
00:48We're talking about everything.
00:49It's a beautiful day outside.
00:50It's going to be like 70 degrees in San Francisco.
00:52The weather, you want to talk about that?
00:53It is a beautiful day.
00:54It's beautiful.
00:54It's like full weather.
00:55Yo, Daniel Tiger, I don't know if you guys watched that.
00:57It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.
00:58There you go.
00:59Shout out Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
01:00So there you go.
01:01I don't know Daniel Tiger.
01:01PBS Kids.
01:02Get after it.
01:03There you go.
01:03It's a great app.
01:04I just love Mr. Rogers.
01:04Oh, there's an app.
01:05There's an app.
01:06PBS Kids app.
01:06Very clutch for all the parents out there.
01:08You're going to want to get that.
01:09They've got games and everything.
01:10It's very educational.
01:11Speaking of education, you know, I think a lot of people were educated on how good Jonathan
01:16Kaminga could be off the bench yesterday, Bonte.
01:1918 points.
01:21JK.
01:22Wow.
01:22I mean, some people talk about him like he's a scrub.
01:25Like, I don't watch this league a long time.
01:27Scrubs don't just average 16 points a game in limited action.
01:32Whether or not he could play with Jimmy Butler is pretty refreshing to hear Jimmy Butler say
01:36yesterday.
01:37I can't play with anybody.
01:38JK and I can't thrive together on the same floor.
01:40I heard the same thing last season when it came to Andrew Wiggins and JK.
01:44And what do you know?
01:45Wiggins and JK figured it out and played together.
01:47So, I'm kind of over to rhetoric of Jonathan Kaminga.
01:50Like, he's not an all-star.
01:52He's not a superstar.
01:54I don't even know if he's a very good NBA player yet.
01:57But he's 22 years old.
01:59And I think on this team, he's definitely not worthy of a D&P.
02:03Like, you've got to figure out some minutes for this kid.
02:05He can do something that nobody else on this team can do.
02:08He can go to the rim.
02:08You saw the moves that he was making yesterday.
02:10And when he plays, just look at the data.
02:12When he plays 30 minutes a game, he shoots about 50%.
02:16He averages about 20 and 6.
02:18So, when he plays within the game, he gets better as the game goes along.
02:22And when he has to play without looking over his shoulder, he's a better version of himself.
02:26And he gets a long, athletic team like the T-Wolves.
02:28You need somebody like that who can get to the rim and show some strength and athleticism
02:32and play point of attack defense.
02:33Some guys can never come off the bench and pinch hit.
02:38It's just, it's wired in them.
02:40Eric Young is the reverse.
02:42Ultimate great pinch hitter, right?
02:43You know, I'm just off the top of my head.
02:45There are certain guys that I think struggle to feel out the flow of the game in basketball
02:50as an off-the-bench guy.
02:52I think GP2 is better off the bench.
02:54I think he does a really good job of, okay, I've watched and saw the first four or five minutes.
02:58I know exactly what we need.
03:00And then he almost makes an immediate impact.
03:02JK is a guy that I think the more he plays, the more comfortable he becomes.
03:07And if you limit him to a two-minute stretch and just yank him, that's not the best way to utilize him
03:13because he kind of is clunky in the first minute or two.
03:17Yeah, I just mentioned that, that he gets better as the game goes along.
03:19Like, I could give you an example.
03:21A couple years ago against the Pelicans, they're down like 20 or 22.
03:24And Draymond had got into it with Herb Jones and never talking back and forth.
03:28Kaminga came in and ended up scoring like 18 or something and shut down Brandon Ingram at the point of attack.
03:34You know what was interesting was, I'm getting all these notes for the series,
03:37and Julius Randle had scored under 20 against the Warriors in the first five matchups.
03:42And the first, obviously, the four matchups in the regular season, he scored under 20, a shot under 39%.
03:47The primary defender for Julius Randle on 59 possessions was Jonathan Kaminga.
03:52Really?
03:53Held him in a 3 of 10 shooting from the floor.
03:55Who was guarding Anthony Edwards during that?
03:57Was it Wiggins?
03:58It was a little Wiggins.
03:59He had Andrew Wiggins.
04:00That's interesting.
04:01So, point of attack.
04:02And, you know, Jonathan, you know, you guys know how I feel about JK.
04:05I'm a JK fan.
04:06Not a stand, but a fan.
04:08And I don't think he's worthy enough on this team.
04:10If you look at Guy Santos, who looks unplayable.
04:12Right now, Moses Moody looks unplayable as he's 0 for 14 and scored three points in the last three games.
04:18I've always believed in the talent Jonathan Kaminga has.
04:21Now, is he the right fit for him to go to St. Warriors?
04:23That's something we can, you know, we can explore in the offseason.
04:26He may not be a good fit for this offense.
04:28But I also ask, you know, I watch this team cater for Dennis Schroeder, try to play more pick and roll.
04:33We're watching him with Jimmy Butler play more isolation basketball, which is not what Steve Kerr loves.
04:40We can't tweak the system a little.
04:41Instead of talking about his weaknesses, oh, he can't dribble or he can't do this.
04:44Well, highlight his strengths.
04:46He's got some strengths, right?
04:47Well, when DiVincenzo's guarding him, he adjusted and he backed him down and then shot over him.
04:51Although I thought DiVincenzo was fouling him.
04:53Then when Nas Reed went out on him, he blew by Nas Reed.
04:56I think he's a good matchup in the half court where no one feels like they want to shoot or has confidence shooting.
05:03He can get you a bucket.
05:04Well, especially now without Steph Curry, because those open shots that you are accustomed to getting with Steph on the floor, you're not going to get anymore.
05:11And Buddy Hill gets elevated on the scouting report.
05:14He scores 15 points on 14 FGAs.
05:17Draymond Green is now not going to.
05:18He's still going to see open threes.
05:20He's got to nail those threes.
05:21GP2's got to nail those open threes.
05:23But now you see the space that Moody's not kidding.
05:26Pajimsy's not kidding.
05:27Jimmy Butler playing him straight up and not going for his bump fakes and keeping him off the free throw line.
05:32So life without Steph Curry, it's going to be a little rough.
05:34When you first saw that, the news yesterday, and you obviously are very tapped in.
05:38Bontail joining us in the studio right here.
05:40Warriors pre and postgame host for NBC Sports Bay Area.
05:43You know, Steph had shoot around.
05:45And I'm not saying it's over for this series, but I would be shocked if he played in this series.
05:51I'm just putting it out there.
05:52I would be.
05:54And if that's the case, and I saw what Jonathan Kaminga was doing yesterday, yeah, he needs minimum for me going forward 20 minutes.
06:01He just needs to.
06:02That size and athleticism just doesn't grow on trees.
06:04And you don't have that guy on your team.
06:06You just don't.
06:07When I look at the Minnesota Timberwolves, like I look at the Houston Rockets, size and athleticism.
06:11You just need to be able to combat that.
06:13When I look at all the other series happening in the NBA right now, size and athleticism is at a premium.
06:19It's like TJD.
06:19White, again, that's another guy right there.
06:22I don't know how much he can carry over into the next game, but clearly he gave them a little something at the rim on both ends of the floor.
06:28Yeah, he did.
06:29They combined for 33 points yesterday.
06:32That was TJD and Jonathan Kaminga.
06:35Yeah.
06:35I mean, he hadn't played.
06:36It wasn't on my bingo card yesterday.
06:37No, it wasn't on my bingo card either.
06:39But you know what?
06:40They just got to have to find a way to scrap a win out.
06:42And they're going to have to scratch a claw and win here.
06:45You're down.
06:45To me.
06:46No, I'm not down.
06:46I'm just chilling.
06:47Okay.
06:47He's got to caught up in that traffic.
06:49No.
06:50The Warriors got the split.
06:52The Warriors got the split.
06:53I don't think.
06:53I mean, they got the split.
06:55It's 1-1.
06:56But you just try to figure out.
06:58Here's how I'm looking at it.
06:59Can they win one of the next two?
07:00Can they win one of the next two?
07:02And we haven't seen Minnesota's best yet.
07:04And that, to me, is what's scary.
07:05They had 16 threes yesterday.
07:07Previous two games, they were 12 of 76 with a three-point line.
07:10They found a rhythm.
07:11And they were getting wide, open looks yesterday.
07:14And so, for me, the danger zone here, without Steph Curry not having that firepower,
07:19is what if Minnesota does play their A game?
07:21They're liable to.
07:22Anthony Edwards, he's going to erupt.
07:24He's a superstar.
07:25He's going to have one of those games where he goes 35-9-7.
07:28It's going to happen.
07:29Nas Reed is going to get open looks.
07:31So, can the Warriors just scratch and claw to get a game?
07:34Because the urgency on Minnesota's sideline right now is, hey, there's no Steph.
07:38Let's put our foot on their necks and let's build this lead.
07:42Let's go up 3-1.
07:43They're not afraid to win on the road.
07:44They've won big road games in Denver, down 20 in Game 7.
07:47They closed out the Lakers in L.A.
07:49They won game one in L.A.
07:50So, it's a fine line.
07:52Like, we can talk about everything and who needs to step up.
07:54The Warriors just need to get a win over the next two.
07:56Well, that was what the, for me anyways, again, talking about silver linings, the playoff loss, right?
08:00We're not doing the Capri Suns.
08:02We're not doing the Orange Lises.
08:03You lost.
08:04But that being said, their defense has been pretty damn good.
08:07I feel like for the most part.
08:08I thought it took a step back yesterday.
08:10Really?
08:11Point of attack defense.
08:12Minnesota got to their spots at will.
08:13Well, I thought they did a poor job.
08:15When Randall got deep, they sent, like, to me, you have to pick a thing.
08:19Either Randall's going to be an in-the-pain scorer only, not a three and in-the-pain scorer,
08:23and he can't also be a passer.
08:25Yeah, 11 assists.
08:26Because they sent double teams at him.
08:28And so, to me, I would, like, play him a little more straight up.
08:31If he gets his fine, don't let three or four guys hit from the outside.
08:35Yeah, Walker started hitting.
08:37McDaniels was hitting.
08:38Conley went 2-0-4.
08:40Yeah.
08:40Edwards went 2-0-4.
08:41They had 16 threes yesterday.
08:43They started filling it.
08:44And so, I thought the point of attack defense was atrocious.
08:47Anthony Edwards, sometimes he got too deep into the paint, which is why he's missing layups.
08:51But they were attacking and penetrating at will.
08:53Dante DiVincenzo saw the ball go through the hoop.
08:55He's had a bad post.
08:56He's just shooting the ball from the three-point line.
08:58He saw three shots go in from the perimeter.
09:00So, I get a little nervous about Minnesota.
09:02They're going to have a game.
09:03I agree.
09:04But, can you still want in the next two and go into game five?
09:07They're tied at two games apiece.
09:09Then you reevaluate Steph Curry, see where he's at with the hamstring.
09:11We're baked into that.
09:12And that was our conversation yesterday.
09:13Without Steph, at the bare minimum, I need two guys to show up every single game ready.
09:18It's Draymond Green and it's Jimmy Butler.
09:20Those guys baked into every game going forward have to be great.
09:23They just have to be.
09:24No, they have to be.
09:25It's a vibe around here, doom and gloom.
09:27I'm actually feeling encouraged.
09:29I don't fear Minnesota offense.
09:32I walked into this series fearing their offense more.
09:36I thought yesterday they got contributions from a lot of different guys.
09:38See, I'm actually in the other, DeRay.
09:40I don't think four guys are going to hit from the outside all in one game.
09:44Just law of averages wise.
09:46And the Warriors, it comes down to Pods, Dre, Moody.
09:52One of those guys has got to hit a couple of threes early in the game to tilt the floor a little.
09:58Pods, I believe, is 5 of 32 from three over his last four.
10:01Wait.
10:02He's shooting 5 of 32.
10:03It's either 5 of 28 or 5 of 32.
10:05Brandon Pajiski from three over his last four.
10:07But for the postseason, he's shooting under 32% from three.
10:11And what about Moody?
10:12Moody is 0 for 14.
10:14Now, he got a couple of grenades yesterday.
10:16The airball, but he also airballed a fast break.
10:18He's 0 for 14 in his last three.
10:20He's only scored three points.
10:21And he looks like he sped up.
10:22It looks like the game's moving way too fast.
10:24He also got a couple of grenades from Jimmy Butler.
10:27To me, the transition.
10:28The floater.
10:30Where he looked on shore.
10:32Was it a wind tunnel opening?
10:34To me, that's confidence.
10:36Yeah, that's confidence.
10:36Psyche, confidence.
10:38I just didn't.
10:39God, the poor guy just doesn't have it going.
10:41And then GB2, I thought, passed up a couple of different opportunities to just square up at the hoop in the lane.
10:45So, they were struggling yesterday.
10:47But, again, to me, that was a house money game.
10:49Yeah.
10:49Like, I didn't expect them to win game two without Steph.
10:51First game in Minnesota came out 13-0.
10:54They couldn't score a bucket in the first five minutes in the first quarter.
10:57So, you know what I'm saying?
10:58They scored 15.
10:59The fewest points they scored in the quarter all-pull season.
11:00But you got the split.
11:02You got the split.
11:03It gets a tough team.
11:03Now you come back home to Chase Center.
11:05And this is where, you know, without Steph Curry, this is where the fans got to be up.
11:10They got to rally this team.
11:12You're short-headed and a role player's got to be better.
11:14To me, up-tempo is the way to go, too.
11:16So, like, there's a couple of things.
11:17Number one, it's not just up-tempo in terms of fast breaks.
11:20Just get into our offense quicker.
11:23Well, that's where Jimmy comes in.
11:24It's just like, come on.
11:25Well, Jimmy Butler, and this has been kind of trending this way, there's been a lot of isolation basketball.
11:30This happened in the Rocket Series where I would, I can't wait to look up this data.
11:35I'm going to watch the game back a little later and try to chart this.
11:37It's a tough watch.
11:38Well, it's a tough watch, but also, how many field goal attempts do they have under six seconds of the shot clock?
11:44They have eight shot clock violations.
11:46I know.
11:46It's unbelievable.
11:47They're holding the ball.
11:48And how many poor ones that aren't shot clock violations, which might as well be.
11:53Right.
11:54Contested threes, long threes, four shots.
11:56That's where Jimmy Butler's got to play .5 basketball.
11:59If you're going to drive to the paint, middle of the paint, you've got to be decisive and look to score.
12:03Jimmy Butler, without Stephen Curry, cannot walk off the court with only 13 field goal attempts.
12:08That's what he was saying.
12:08He's got to get to 18, 20 to be aggressive.
12:1020 at least.
12:12Okay, I get what you're saying.
12:14But the problem is, is that the way their offense is, when Moody's not hitting and Pods is not hitting and Draymond's not hitting,
12:20everyone's like, well, we're just going to pack the paint, which is where Jimmy wants to operate.
12:24And they're going to lay off of all of those shooters.
12:25And I thought they did a great job closing out yesterday with Al Fowler.
12:29Oh, they were rotating.
12:30Well, for sure.
12:31For sure.
12:31Daniels was great.
12:32It's the mindset that bleeds into the rest of the team that I think is incumbent on Jimmy Butler now.
12:36So they're all looking to Jimmy, this playoff Jimmy that I know he talked about the burden of playoffs.
12:40Jimmy doesn't think it's a burden.
12:41It's just the expectation because he's been great in the playoffs.
12:44But it was for a different team and a different organization.
12:46Like that was a different iteration and a different offense.
12:49And I think we, we, if we're the Dub Nation, you got to wrap your minds around like that was different.
12:53Like that wasn't what this is right now.
12:55This is a different version of Jimmy.
12:57And he's had to play a different way.
12:58But can we get a semblance of that?
13:01The aggressive mindset, though, is what he can control.
13:03And he talked about that after the game.
13:05Like that is something that could bleed to the other players.
13:07Just getting in there, getting your head down and going to the paint.
13:10I know he can get to the paint on this team.
13:11I don't, again, maybe I'm the only one.
13:13I don't fear Rudy Gobert.
13:15I just don't.
13:16Well, Rudy Gobert can alter shots.
13:17Well, he can.
13:18The guy's also got brick hands.
13:20And he does dumb fouls.
13:21He does dumb fouls, Bob Bates.
13:22Yeah, but defensively, though, he's solid defensively, man.
13:25But you can get him in foul trouble.
13:26We underrate him, though.
13:27You can.
13:28You can get him in foul trouble.
13:28But you got to get him out on the perimeter.
13:30Exactly.
13:30Down in the paint, he's, like, you got to give him his credit in the paint.
13:34That's his, you get him on the perimeter, and you can start shaking and baking
13:37and maybe get him up in the air on some puff fakes.
13:39Great.
13:39That's where the step factor is.
13:41But down in the paint, Rudy Gobert also shots.
13:44He cleans up shots.
13:45I think we got to give him a little bit more respect.
13:47The reputation is, you know, he's a damn, like, you talk to basketball people,
13:51sure, you get him on the perimeter, he's food.
13:53That's how J.K. got the dunk was he came out to the short corner and went by it,
13:57and he was a step slow.
13:59I'm with you.
14:00The guy is a load.
14:01I said it before game one.
14:02Like, he draws so many, I call box-out fouls, where it's shot goes up,
14:07you're drawing and boxing out, boom, foul.
14:10He gets more of a better whistle than I feel like prime shot got.
14:14Yeah, and you see him blocking shots yesterday.
14:16They, he, there's an intimidation factor if you're a smaller team that's getting to
14:20the rack, and you're like, oh, there's Rudy.
14:22He's 7'2".
14:23Let me try to get this layup past him.
14:25He's getting eight up.
14:26They're getting blocked.
14:27The T-wolves are blocking shots left and right, or at least contesting or altering shots.
14:31So, look, Jimmy, here's the difference, too.
14:34Like, I've been hearing a lot about this.
14:36Can he turn into playoff Jimmy, Miami, Jimmy?
14:38Those Miami teams, even though they had undrafted players in Duncan Robinson, Max Strews,
14:42and Gabe Vinson, and who else did they have?
14:45Tyler Hero.
14:45Tyler Hero.
14:46They had shooters.
14:47Yeah.
14:48They're better shooters than what the Warriors have around Jimmy right now.
14:50Jordan Martin was shooting during that playoff run.
14:52And Adebayo was a walking double-double every single time he was out there.
14:56Right.
14:56He was a better offensive player than Draymond Green.
14:58You look at the players around Jimmy right now, they're not known for being shooters.
15:02So, there's going to be some challenges there.
15:04Real quick, we don't do this often, but let's go to the phones.
15:08Why not?
15:08Tell me who I think it is.
15:09I think we've got a special guest on the line.
15:12I think he was tweeting Vontae last night.
15:13Yeah, how did I get involved in that conversation?
15:15Yeah, well, there was an at involved.
15:17I don't know.
15:17How are you?
15:18Because I feel like Shasky tweets for it.
15:20I think that's Shasky's account.
15:21That's your Broder account.
15:23Hey, mystery guest.
15:24Good morning.
15:24How you doing?
15:27Hey, guys.
15:27How you doing?
15:28Vontae, I'm looking good.
15:30TV's treating you well, star.
15:37When you said you're my hero, Vontae, I almost fell out of my chair last night.
15:42I know.
15:42I knew that would upset him.
15:47He hates himself.
15:52Yeah, you have no idea.
15:53I don't hate him.
15:54You're one of the few guys I replied to on that app.
15:56So feel special, BPA.
15:58Not everybody gets a reply from Vontae Hill anymore.
16:01I am.
16:01The king.
16:02Yeah.
16:02I'm honored.
16:03I'm honored.
16:05I think they got the split.
16:07You know?
16:08Like, they got the split, and Steph Curry didn't play seven of the eight quarters.
16:11And, you know, Minnesota, you think they could shoot better than this.
16:17But from a matchup standpoint, I just think, you know, you swap out Towns for Randall.
16:23And Towns was a problem for us.
16:24Randall's not a problem for Draymond, in my personal opinion.
16:28Like, he's owned him throughout his career, and that is a pretty big switch up in the matchup.
16:32And so I think it's a good matchup for the Warriors, generally.
16:35I mean, they got it within seven last night, and then Curry took all the guys out who got it to seven, including Kuminga, who played great.
16:43And, you know, if that's who – if Kuminga can play like that, I think it changes the series.
16:50And, you know, Curry's obviously going to have to give him a shot to be that guy.
16:55But, you know, he has to play well, obviously, if he wants to get a longer – a long run.
17:01And anyways, but good job from Kuminga last night.
17:04Pods and Moody, my gosh.
17:05Oh, my God.
17:06Like, it's bad.
17:08Like, and I kind of thought they were past that kind of stuff.
17:11But, wow, they are really, really bad right now.
17:15And they need to play better.
17:17Like, you know, like, it's just stone-cold truth.
17:21They have to play better.
17:22Jimmy has to take that open mid-range shot that he has 20 times a game and does that thing where he just keeps dribbling.
17:28EPA.
17:29EPA.
17:29Can they beat the T-Wolves without Steph?
17:32Yeah.
17:33You mean, you know, win four games?
17:35Yes.
17:38I think – I mean, they would need to win these two at home this weekend or whatever, Saturday and Monday.
17:44I think it's a tall order.
17:45I think they can win one of the next three games or one of the next two games.
17:49But Steph would have to come back, I think, to win the series.
17:53But I think they're competitive in the series, even without Steph, because of that trade that Minnesota made, in my opinion.
18:04I think Towns, that was – just for this particular matchup, Draymond owns Ramble.
18:10He can, like, help out and still guard him and come back to him.
18:16And, yeah, it's just from a matchup standpoint, it's just a better matchup for the Warriors than it was last year.
18:21Remember all the problems they had with Minnesota last year?
18:24They could not find any space.
18:28Anyways, that's my two cents.
18:29Draymond's going to make some threes, too.
18:30Thanks, Brian.
18:31I mean, Julius Randle had 24 points, 11 assists, and seven boards yesterday.
18:34He dominated.
18:35He absolutely dominated yesterday.
18:36No, but let's take a step back here about Draymond guarding him.
18:39Yeah, fine.
18:40I'm just saying, Julius Randle was the best player on the court yesterday.
18:42So, I'm just saying.
18:43His point was, and I agree with him, is that if you're going to go up with him, it's either going to be JK,
18:49or it's got to be Draymond Green guarding him individually, and not Draymond as the off-ball help defender coming to double latent possessions.
18:57Like, that, to me, was the tactic they employed yesterday, and it didn't work.
19:01And also, they dissected the Warriors' own defense yesterday.
19:04They figured that out.
19:04As the Warriors were running that 1-3-1 matchup zone in Game 1 and Game 7 against Houston,
19:09they had their way with the zone yesterday.
19:11Conley hitting those two quick ones.
19:12It did.
19:13And Jayden McDaniels as well.
19:15Absolutely.
19:16Actually, I thought McDaniels was excellent on both ends.
19:17It was.
19:18Oh, wow.
19:18We got an update per our own Stephen Lankford, KCBS.
19:21So, as you know, Bonte, the traffic's been horrible because Bart has had a system-wide outage.
19:25So, it's been really bad.
19:27Bart has been down.
19:28But per Lankford, nice guy Stephen, Bart is up and running again.
19:32So, shout out KCBS if you're over there.
19:33They were all over it, our sister station.
19:36So, there you go.
19:37Really?
19:38Nasty.
19:38There you go.
19:39But it's back, baby.
19:40The helicopter wasn't ready.
19:42Oh, that's tough.
19:43Didn't have anywhere to park.
19:44The chariot wasn't ready to go.
19:46Didn't have anywhere to park.
19:48They have the landing zone on the roof here at Odyssey.
19:51The people carrying the...
19:52Yeah, the airdrop.
19:53We don't have parking for cars here.
19:55We definitely don't have parking for helicopters.
19:56So, you just mentioned it and you asked the question to BPA.
20:00Let me ask this to you then, Bonte.
20:01Do you think they can win this series without Steph?
20:03It's going to be very difficult.
20:05Very difficult.
20:05But, oh, no, no.
20:06That's a different answer.
20:08No.
20:08Of course it's going to be different.
20:09I don't think they can.
20:10I don't think they can.
20:11I don't think they can, but, yeah, it would require, like, obviously some monumental contributions.
20:17Listen, can they get it to 2-2 at least and then you reevaluate Steph?
20:22Because not having your guy, as we see Stephen Curry, the entire offense gravitates, revolves around Steph.
20:28The gravity, the shots that he creates by just being on the floor.
20:33And without him, now you're asking guys who haven't been consistent
20:36and haven't had consistent minutes all season long to play consistent basketball
20:41in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
20:44That is a very difficult thing to do.
20:46It is tough.
20:47Like, for TJD to go out there and go 6-for-6 and score 15 without even playing a playoff game,
20:52that's hard.
20:53But also, he's now on a scouting report.
20:55Yeah.
20:55Now, Minnesota's, okay, we got his attention.
20:57When this happens, we're going to do this.
20:59JK's now on a scouting report.
21:01He wasn't on that scouting report early on because he wasn't playing.
21:04The guy's racked up four DMPs in the playoffs, which is crazy to me.
21:08But there's the playoff speed, there's regular season speed,
21:12and it's tough to ask these guys to ratchet it up.
21:14And, oh, by the way, it's Pod's first ever postseason.
21:17Rookies usually, or guys who play in their first postseason, usually struggle,
21:21especially a second-year player, not making excuses for them.
21:24The data's there.
21:25The history of the league tells you that young players struggle in the postseason.
21:28Yeah, but the games at home last series, it felt like he played a lot better.
21:33Better.
21:33At home.
21:34And so I'm hoping that we get home and he plays better.
21:36Absolutely.
21:37Because I don't see them winning any of the games at home
21:41without Pod's being a positive, positive contributor.
21:44He's got to go to that mid-range jumper.
21:46That middie is wide open for him.
21:48He has it, too, in his bag.
21:50The middie is there for Brendan Pazimski.
21:51It's always going to be there.
21:52And he has a good mid-range game.
21:53He's got to hit that mid-range jumper.
21:55And that little off-balance push shot that he likes, that's the one.
21:58He's got to do it.
21:59And speaking of Stephen Curry, if any of you missed this sound yesterday,
22:02this is Steph at Shootaround talking about a timetable potentially for his return.
22:07This is new.
22:08And from all that I've, or all that I'm learning about how quickly you can get back,
22:13there has to be a healing process that you,
22:16just the way the body works, you can't accelerate it more than what it's telling you.
22:21So it'll be one of those, after a week, like really re-evaluating every day
22:26to kind of understand when it's safe, just to even think about playing,
22:30let alone like how much can you push it.
22:32Yeah, I think people might, Warriors fans, if you're under the assumption that,
22:35you know, a week passes and he's ready and good to go,
22:38I just, I don't think that's the case.
22:40When I hear him say that, it says we'll re-evaluate
22:42and we'll take the steps that need to be taken after that.
22:45So, and then yesterday during the game,
22:48I thought we were going to lose Anthony Edwards for this series.
22:50Potentially this series is going to go from no step, no Anthony Edwards,
22:53like that, but Anthony Edwards comes back, Bonte, to start that second.
22:56You guys thought he was done?
22:57No, I didn't think he was done.
22:59I was like, he's coming back.
23:00I remember telling Fez, I was like, he's going to come back.
23:01The same thing happened in the Lakers series where he was down,
23:05when he bumped these with LeBron James and whatnot.
23:06I think he got shot up.
23:07Right.
23:08Well, maybe.
23:09Let's see if that's what happens.
23:10You can only do that so often.
23:11Yeah.
23:12But he looks pretty good.
23:12He's also 23.
23:13Yeah, exactly.
23:14He's a healer.
23:14Exactly.
23:15There's no doubt.
23:16But he got stepped on hard.
23:18That ankle folded.
23:19And then he made a move in the fourth quarter.
23:21I was like, damn, this guy's got, he's got a year old.
23:23That's what's scaring me.
23:24You mentioned it.
23:25He looks like a day and a half.
23:26He hasn't really looked good, though.
23:28And there's going to be at least a game two, a couple,
23:31that he's just going to go off.
23:32He's just going to go off.
23:33He is.
23:33And there's nothing you can do about it when superstars do that.
23:35But baked into that, there's going to be some games
23:38where Jimmy Butler, I'm expecting now.
23:39Can he do that?
23:40He's just, we want to call him a superstar in the playoffs.
23:42You know, like this is where you turn into a superstar.
23:46He's in the playoffs.
23:46And we've seen it in the past.
23:48Can he do that?
23:48It starts with being a little bit more selfish to me.
23:51And not selfish in the way of, you know,
23:53I'm going to just get mine.
23:54I'm going to go full Kobe hero mode.
23:56No, he still needs to be a ball distributor.
23:58He's going to, that's going to be baked into it.
24:00But 20 field goal attempts, at least for me going forward,
24:03need to be baked into it.
24:04Because there's not a lot of guys who are confident in their shots right now.
24:07Like, honestly, who's confident in their shot right now on the Warriors?
24:11Who could you say is confident shooting the ball?
24:12JK's probably got some confidence now.
24:14Jonathan Kaminga.
24:16Who's not a shooter.
24:18No.
24:18Per se.
24:19He's not.
24:20Like, that's why.
24:20So I need Jimmy Butler.
24:21I need him to be shooting the ball.
24:23And that mid-range for him, we're talking about mid-range being open.
24:25Look, Jimmy can do what he does.
24:27And you're still going to need to contribute.
24:29That's correct.
24:29That's correct.
24:31Draymond Green.
24:32JK, whoever it is.
24:33You can't get outshot from three.
24:33Right.
24:34That's the way they play.
24:35And the way, like, all the games, if you look at the trend,
24:38the three-point line gives you a good indication of who's playing well
24:41and who's not.
24:42Let's discuss the Draymond Green angle to this.
24:44Let's discuss the Draymond Green angle to this.
