00:00We see now Josh Tarling getting ready for the ceremony.
00:18He's probably going to realize a little bit later what he'd done today
00:20because it was an incredible performance by him.
00:23A second victory of 20, 25 for Josh Tarling as well.
00:30The British national champion takes the stage in style.
00:38Had to sit on that hot seat for a long, long time watching rider after rider threaten his time.
00:46Some ran him very close.
00:47Nobody ran him as close as Primoz Roglic who very nearly beat Tarling.
00:53But other than Roglic, he had a comfortable advantage over everybody else in the field.
01:00Beating the likes of the European champion, Eduardo Affini, beating Wout Van Aert, Maz Pedersen and Primoz Roglic.
01:08All be it by just one second.
01:16Two-time British national champion.
01:19Former European champion.
01:22Stage winner this year of a World Tour individual time trial at the UAE Tour.
01:27And now, as he takes a really quite big swig of the Astoria sparkling wine,
01:33he is a winner of a Grand Tour stage for the first time in his career
01:36and has made history by becoming the youngest winner of an individual time trial at the Giro ever.
01:42That's the top ten.
01:59A mixture of stage hunters and GC riders,
02:04the likes of Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso thinking about Rome and three weeks.
02:12Maz Pedersen in seventh place just thinking about getting through today in pink
02:15and falling agonizingly short.
02:18So we've got a change in the, at the top of the general classification.
02:45And it is this man who is preparing to make his way to the podium now, finally.
03:08Yeah, it's going to be interesting, isn't it?
03:10I think to figure out how Red Bull, Borahanskoyer are going to play this tactically,
03:14how long they want to keep the lead in the early part of the race,
03:20whether they might be tempted to hand it over, as we often see.
03:25Welcome back.
03:27Fair enough.
03:29It's been two years.
03:33Taking the pink jersey on stage two, very different from taking it on stage 20.
03:36But he did that in an individual time trial as well, which he won.
03:44A very different individual time trial from the one that he hasn't won today,
03:47but he very nearly won it.
03:50Instead, he's rewarded with the pink jersey.
03:53Sure thing is he's going to go, he's going to add a lot of confidence after this time trial
03:58because he got better than anybody else of the GC contenders.
04:04Nearly got the victory, but he got a lot of confirmation about his current shape.
04:07Well, for Pogaccia, 2024, Reid Roglic, 2025.
04:18Stage two seems to be the favoured day for these supporters to celebrate a Slovenian in pink.
04:24It happened last year at the top of the Europa Sanctuary climb,
04:28historic climb in the Giro d'Italia.
04:31This year, Primoz Roglic does it in the warm sunshine of the Albanian capital.
04:35Another day of history is written and another day in pink for Primoz Roglic beckons,
04:40the winner of the 2023 Giro d'Italia.
04:43Comes back two years later, determined to do it all again
04:46and has got off to the best possible start.
04:49Primoz Roglic in the Maglia Rosa once more.
05:03Seems like very much enjoying.
05:05This back in a pink jersey, of course, he does.
05:20I think you're right, though.
05:22Jacopo, I think the biggest thing that he'll take away from this individual time trial,
05:25apart from another pink jersey, is he'll be thinking about the time he put into all those
05:31other rivals, the confidence he'll take from this, the knowledge that there's another time
05:38trial to come that's longer.
05:40And if he can hold the form, he can do it all again.
05:42Even if he were to concede time in the mountains, he's got that in the back pocket.
05:46It was a very, very good display of shape from Primoz.
05:50So the whole team yesterday was very good.
05:55So he knows he has the support he needs to just drive him through the race in the next
06:01days.
06:02And he has the shape.
06:03So he ticked all the boxes, now he just have to ride.
06:06So I think, like, after today, he's going to land in Italy, whether with the jersey or
06:10not, with a lot of confidence.
06:11I'm surprised he's not doing his signature celebration, like, ski jumper.
06:28Not today.
06:29Not today.
06:30Maybe he's moved on from that.
06:32Because I kind of feel that his career as a cyclist sort of overshadows his career as
06:36a ski jumper by now.
06:37I think he's done more.
06:38Also, it's been ended too many things, probably.
06:42He had an handful of puppet, jersey, flowers.
06:47It was too much going on.
06:49Yeah.
06:56That's a lot of watches, as we can see.
06:59Yeah.
07:00You want to be sure about the time.
07:01Reminder of the newly shaped general classification.
07:11Number of riders just falling away completely.
07:13A number of riders, interesting riders, rising up.
07:15Juana Iuzo sitting there in fifth place at 16 seconds.
07:18Max Poole, another quietly very, very good performance rising up to, what was it, seventh
07:24place, Antonio Tiberi in eighth, and who can blame him for being really disappointed?
07:31I mean, he shouldn't be disappointed.
07:33That was a completely outstanding individual time trial, but he was so close.
07:39Maz Pedersen.
07:39It is not over for Maz Pedersen.
07:43He's only a second down on Primoz Roglic.
07:46And there are six bonus seconds at the Red Bull Kilometre tomorrow, as well as points on
07:51the finishing line.
07:52So, depending on how the race is shaped tomorrow and what Bora, Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, and
07:57indeed Lidltrek's ambitions are, could be quite interesting to see how that all plays out.
08:02Yeah.
08:03Also, the positioning of the Red Bull Kilometre tomorrow is quite interesting because he's
08:07heading to the last climb, which might be feared by Pedersen because the slopes tomorrow
08:14are going to be pretty tough, like an average gradient of 7.5%, so a fair climb.
08:22So, it's going to be interesting to see if they're going to play the cards with Maz or going
08:26with Vacek because, let's not forget, he's only a five second and he's a fine sprinter
08:30himself.
08:35Points classification then led by Maz Pedersen after two top ten finishes.
08:40Watt Van Aert in second place, not in the top ten on today's stage, and 11 points down
08:46in the Malia Ciclamino, which both these riders, I think, will probably target if Van Aert
08:52has got the legs, which he didn't have today.
09:01And we're finally going to be able to discover who actually won the KOM today.
09:07Yeah.
09:09Four points were on offer.
09:10Sorry, three points were on offer today at the South Climb.
09:13Not enough to dislodge Sylvain Monique.
09:19So, Monique goes into tomorrow's stage, still with an advantage in the King of the Mountains
09:26competition.
09:27There are two categorised climbs tomorrow on the course.
09:32A Category 4 and another Category 2 climb.
09:35The last climb is really quite substantial.
09:42Proper climb, the Cat 2 climb.
09:44The Caffa e lo Grazie.
09:53So, Sylvain Monique with work to do tomorrow to defend that jersey, with all the points on
09:58offer tomorrow.
09:58I think we were wrong.
10:10We forgot about Vacek.
10:12He's going to wear the white jersey.
10:14You're absolutely right.
10:16I just saw him at the back there.
10:17I thought, what's he doing there?
10:18Exactly.
10:18That was my thought.
10:19Yeah.
10:19And, you know, he's been in the peloton since ages, and we also forget he's so young.
10:24Yeah, that's crazy.
10:26Well, my apologies for that.
10:28I was convinced it was going to be Max Poole.
10:36So, the white jersey going to the Czech Republic, and it's Matthias Vacek instead, who takes
10:41over from Francesco Pusato, whose lead in the white jersey classification only lasted a
10:46day.
10:47Excellent time trial from Vacek.
10:48Matthias Vacek denied victory last year at the Vuelta in an individual time trial by Brandon
10:58McNulty, Vacek.
11:00Didn't ride to victory here, but he will pull on a distinctive jersey and wear it by rights
11:06tomorrow.
11:07Today was a very, very good performance by him.
11:12He's a rider yet to discover what are his limits, because it seems like to be strong in any
11:18terrain.
11:19And I'm sure today was quite a performance for him, not enough for winning, but I mean, some
11:26consolation prize to be a jersey wearer in a Grand Tour.
11:29So, he climbed brilliantly yesterday, didn't he?
11:33He was.
11:33He was.
11:34He was all consistent through all the beginning of the season.
11:39So, we might see more tomorrow.
11:40It's not far from the pink jersey, so he might even try something to get also the pink jersey
11:46on his shoulder tomorrow.
11:47Yeah, Lidl Trek have got some thinking to do tonight, I think, about what they do, how
11:54they approach tomorrow.
11:55They've got all these different cards to play, and they've got plenty of reward on offer if
12:00they get it right tomorrow.
12:05They need to just move on very quickly from the frustration, I think, of Maz Pedersen missing
12:12out so narrowly on defending the jersey today.
12:15But they'll take another jersey.
12:17Onto the team bus tomorrow to look after.
12:24These are the white jersey standings, then Vacek ahead of Juana Yuzo at 11 seconds, so
12:29Max Poole actually only in fourth.
12:31Isaac Del Toro as well.
12:33Let's hear, though, from the new Maglia Rosa of the 2025 Giro d'Italia.
12:39He is, of course, Primoz Roglic.
12:43I wonder what his thoughts are, and whether or not he'll reveal anything about the tactics
12:46that Red Bull Buller Hansgrohe might be prepared to play over the days to come.
12:49I wonder if that would help?
12:53Maybe.
12:54Old lugar.
12:56I wonder who the guard充 Varun.
13:04Maybe.
13:05I wonder who the guard充 early with the infomeness
13:07came from tom.
13:07Maybe heolé?
