00:00Moto No. 2
00:01The Fly Racing, 15 second board goes up
00:08and MXGP, Moto No. 2, Hyago Gitz
00:11punches his fists, he knows
00:13psyching himself up, he wants a much better result
00:16this time round, that's the fastest qualifier
00:18yesterday, 5 second board goes up
00:20MXGP, Moto No. 2
00:23is underway
00:24gets down the inside, Ferra's got another good jump
00:28into the first corner
00:29and it looks like he's done it again
00:31Flander in 2nd, Siwa 3rd
00:34and that looks very much like Koenann
00:36in 4th, Fernandes in 5th, another good start
00:38for the Spaniard at his home Grand Prix
00:39they all seem to get through
00:42the first corner, certainly amongst the frontrunners
00:44relatively cleanly, but Fevre
00:45exactly where he wants to be here, leads the way
00:48and already trying to charge
00:50away as Ruben Fernandes goes to the outside of
00:52Koenann over the tabletop
00:53he's got the line into the corner
00:56down the inside of Siwa he goes, but Lucas
00:58Koenann is in a no-nonsense mood here as well
01:00he charges through into that 3rd place
01:01fast and furious moments here
01:05at the front of the field
01:06and Koenann desperately trying to get up there
01:08with Calvin Valandran who started off very strongly
01:10in 2nd place
01:11they are determined not to let Fevre get away
01:14in these early stages
01:15oh, and Koenann down the inside found a line
01:17oh, he tried to make that one work
01:19but couldn't quite get the big 450
01:21through that extreme inside line
01:23and Koenann stays in 3rd
01:25oh, rider down, I think that was Renault that went down
01:27just washed out on the right-hander
01:29pretty sure that was Maxime Renault that went down
01:32yes it was
01:33what a shame for him after a strong first moto
01:36he's got away just alongside Adam Sterry
01:39on the number 8-11
01:40so Febriar leads, Flander in 2nd
01:43Koenann in 3rd
01:44Fernandes will be Jeremy Siwa
01:46now breaking into the top 5
01:48after that trouble
01:49for Maxime Renault
01:51he all charged through
01:53he was right there with Adam Sterry
01:55on the Chambers KTM
01:56Sterry, of course, for many years
01:59riding for many of the German teams
02:02the KTM
02:03the IDAC series in particular
02:05now racing for the British-based
02:07Chambers KTM team
02:09who have been involved
02:11on and off in Bromfield motocross for decades now
02:13Sterry still grabbing the points
02:16further down the field
02:17he got away quite well in 15th
02:19he's, like we say, just behind Maxime Renault
02:22as we look at Jeremy Siwa
02:26trying to put room with Fernandes
02:28under some pressure here
02:28Fernandes, you remember, was 3rd
02:30in moto number 1
02:31so it's all finely poisoned in terms
02:33of those podium positions
02:34Jeremy Siwa really playing fight back here
02:37after a difficult first moto
02:38it all just seemed to go wrong
02:41he was running 2nd in the early stages
02:43lost it on the wave section
02:45towards the end of the lap
02:46and just several mistakes
02:48so as things stand at the moment
02:49it's Fever from Koenann, Fernandes
02:51on the podium in his home Grand Prix
02:53as things stand at the moment
02:54Flandron and Renault
02:56look out for Maxime Renault here
02:57as he looks to try and gain those points back
02:59so Ruben Fernandes
03:02who's been off the podium for quite some time here
03:05until the Portuguese Grand Prix last weekend
03:08and of course on the Iberian Peninsula
03:12he'll have been pleased to get a podium
03:14that's a relatively local Grand Prix for him
03:17but now crossing the border to his homeland of Spain
03:20oh! Fever has gone down
03:21and this blows the Grand Prix wide open
03:23can he get the bike restarted quickly?
03:26yes he can
03:26just ahead of his teammate
03:28stays ahead of Jonas
03:30so that will put him in 7th place
03:32and that means that Carmen Vlandrin now leads the way
03:34so Ruben Fernandes
03:37we were saying he was looking to try and get onto the podium
03:40well let's see what Fever can do
03:43it's all going to be
03:44all eyes on Fever now
03:45as the moto goes on
03:46as to how much he can fight back
03:47he took the first moto victory
03:49as Koenann goes down the inside
03:50oh! what a move!
03:53fantastic stuff there from Lucas Koenann
03:56he had to be brave on the inside line there
03:59and he snatches the lead from Carmen Vlandrin
04:01I don't think was fully expecting that one
04:05but he regroups quickly
04:07Vlandrin knows that there is potential for a moto victory here
04:12charging after the young Belgian
04:15Vlandrin only 8th in moto number one
04:17so very much be an outsider
04:18well there's Fever just behind Iago Geert
04:21who's having a much better time of things this time
04:23the young Belgian
04:24celebrated his 25th birthday a few weeks ago
04:28this is what happened to Fever
04:29a little bit obscured there by the spectators
04:35there's a better angle just the camera panning to it now
04:38but it looked like he just got cross-rutted
04:40and lost the front wheel on the braking bumps
04:42going into the right-hander a small mistake
04:44of course it was the rider's fault but it just goes to show
04:48how easy it is to make a mistake on a demanding gnarly cut-up circuit like this
04:53second moto of the day this is where the braking bumps and the acceleration bumps are at their harshest
04:58and even for Romain Fever who has been faultless today
05:02just the tiniest of mistakes from him and down he goes and he's having to work hard here
05:06he can perhaps take heart from how kind of Wolf got on in a difficult second moto
05:14Romain Fever is a past champion of course he will know that
05:18it's in situations like this where titles can be won so he's going to regain his composure here
05:22just try and not push too hard to make a mistake but
05:26keep that pressure going just keep moving through the field as best he can he's got the
05:30two Ducatis in front of him now Jeremy Siwa and Mattia Guadnini
05:35you see the riders looking for lines there on that tricky little right-hander section there's
05:38some really nasty acceleration bumps on the main racing line from the first moto
05:43and it seems most of the riders trying to avoid those now going to the left and to the right
05:50as the moto goes on of course those ruts and those bumps will get worse and worse and it's
05:55all about just trying to find the lines where you can
05:58but Kurnan leading there by 1.8 seconds Mlander in second Fernandes third
06:03Siwa Guadnini coming under some pressure now from Romain Fever who won the foxhole shot
06:08but at this stage he won't be too concerned about that he'll be looking to try and get back
06:12amongst the top three
06:16Lucas Kurnan this could be a great opportunity now for him just to
06:19pull a few points back on Fever
06:22Fever knows of course he's working hard
06:27and Romain Fever with a textbook block pass there goes down the inside of Mattia Guadnini
06:32takes the front wheel away prevents him from making the repass
06:35that's how it's done but Mattia Guadnini not giving this one up
06:39Guadnini one of the riders who very quickly went through to MXGP
06:46he of course formerly on the mighty Escobar team in his EMX 125 career
06:54running the EMX 125 the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship as well back in 2019
07:02so only recently that was on the two-stroke and
07:10after now only missing out on EMX 250 really was fast tracked into
07:14rider injuries on the factory Yamaha team back then he was fast tracked up towards the
07:18MXGP squad for Red Bull Gas Gas
07:20now of course with the team no longer competing in MXGP he's been moved across the Nistar
07:28we saw Romain Fever take another foxhole shot leading the way he made a costly mistake
07:33he's starting to make inland spin roads will he be able to regroup and get that overall victory that he wants so bad
07:39yeah for sure he will try everything he can you know the tracks very unpredictable unpredictable so tricky so
07:46main thing is to yeah still keep calm you know and but I think he can come back
07:52he's only two points off the overall victory as it stands
07:56yeah let's see it's a lot more calm but yeah I think he can do it let's see
08:00so everyone just keeping a cool head in the factory Kawasaki team right now Romain Fever with that
08:11mistake dropping down but settling in quite nicely here as he looks to try and grab those points
08:17still a long way to go for him here 22 minutes plus the two laps remaining
08:22much like in NX2 the pace a lot quicker in moto number two you can see for yourself the track is a
08:26a lot drier than it was in moto number one quite soft loamy soil so the drainage is quite good here
08:32you would imagine on this sort of soil that it does stay dry for a short period of time it will start to
08:38really dry out on the track so Kernan looking set at the moment for another grand prix his third in
08:45succession but Fever he'll be determined to try and fight back here Fever then still second overall
08:51Fernandes still on the podium hustling stand quite comfortably from Carpen Flandrin
08:54and Maxime Renault another rider who's playing catch up here Renault currently in 11th place just
09:00behind Jan Pankar as Fever trying to get past the experienced Jeremy Siwa on the Ducati
09:10and Siwa fending him off quite comfortably at the moment so they make their way through the waves
09:14heading back towards the final few corners these two riders last year of course teammates on the factory
09:22Kawasaki team Siwa of course released and moving to the Aruba Ducati factory team for 2025 so perhaps a
09:32little bit of a personal score here for Jeremy Siwa he'll be from a personal point of view one would say
09:38he would be keen to keep the rider from his old team behind him of course a lot more to it than that he's
09:45still looking to uh get Ducati back onto the podium he managed it in Switzerland it won't be happening
09:51today realistically because he had a nightmare first moto but really fighting back quite strongly here
09:57fourth position in the second moto and at the moment fending off the Kawasaki
10:02Romain Febvre as they make their way through the left-hander the race just settling into a rhythm here as
10:10we look at Tiago Girtz sinks the bike into the soft berm oh and washing out still on the
10:20some of these berms they will give way it's still quite soft out there just going back to the start
10:24Renaud had a good start there but once again Romain Febvre down the inside grabbing the foxhole shot
10:34perfect start crucially here though of course Koen and also got away well with Carmen Blandrin and
10:39Ruben Fernandes as we chase them into the first corner Brian Burgess squeezed out of it there coming
10:44into the first corner
10:45the track a lot drier this time and uh incident free first corner as Romain Febvre is the of course
10:53the foxhole shot winner but still only in fifth place Jeremy Seawer making life difficult for him
10:59here as he tries to make his way through
11:04see Febvre squaring the turn coming up to the monster energy finish line jump
11:08can't find a way through at the moment tries the inside oh and Febvre made a mistake there cut too
11:15tight off the corner trying to square the turn off but it will pay back for him here on the first
11:22corner he'll have the momentum through the first corner to re-pass Febvre so back up he goes
11:28Jeremy Seawer currently 10th in the title race
11:31try and catch up on Carmen Blandrin and Keren Hormo Bonacorsi in front of him
11:39and this fourth position as things stand at the moment will certainly help him out as Febvre has
11:44a peek down the inside I'm sure that Febvre won't want him to have it all his own way at this stage as
11:49he makes his way through on the left-hander see we're holding onto the line Lucas Koen is still leading the
11:55way and increasing the gap to 5.3 seconds at this stage Koen and with the fastest lap
11:59144.486 and Koen at the moment is picking the pace up he's lapping quite comfortably in the 144s
12:07at this stage he's faster than everyone else and he's just looking to try and build that cushion
12:11on Blandrin in second as we go back to the battle so you see Seawer squares the turn
12:17loses traction out of the left-handed hairpin though as he looks across he knows what he did there and
12:23Febvre of course made the pass but the extra momentum that Seawer was able to build up
12:28he's putting back into fourth place Guardini still sixth Paul Jonas in seventh good start for him so
12:32far so the two Kawasaki's running strongly in the top ten Bonacorsi in eighth position
12:38and the bullet Jeffrey Hurlings in ninth place just ahead of Jan Pankar the Slovenian who is having a
12:43much better motor this time in tenth place Maxime Renault running under pressure
12:49as we've seen a few times though if a rider goes down it's potentially on a circuit like this where it's quite
12:54gnarly and tough it's difficult to get back with the leaders but we saw Kylie Wolfe do it in MX2 so
13:01Maxime Renault can take heart from that one and there's still plenty of time for him to get towards the leading
13:06group of riders meanwhile Roman Febvre he'll be cursing that mistake as Jeremy Seawer making life very
13:12difficult for him here there's Ruben Fernandes looking to get on the podium once again and the
13:18the Spanish fans certainly get behind him as Febvre nips down the inside
13:23nice little move to the inside goes for the tear off and Febvre makes it work and he's into fourth position
13:30hold the inside line making sure he can guard that position they seem going for the roll-off this time
13:35pulling the roll off cord got clear vision in front of him and Roman Febvre 2015 world champion currently
13:44charging hard in fourth place trying to catch up with Ruben Fernandes here
13:49of course he has got just over a 45 point gap coming into this round but he won't want to lose any
13:54points to Lucas Kernan so be determined to try and get as close as he can to the Belgian hopefully
14:00while he jump he goes
14:06Kernan just establishing that six second cushion at the front of the field now from
14:11Valander and Fernandes Febvre Seawer and it's as you were in the top 10 Guadini from Jonas Bonacorsi
14:16Hurlings and Renault there is the number 70 of Ruben Fernandes and the Spanish fans urging him on
14:31Fernandes still running strong in that third place as Paul Jonas doing battle here with Andrea Bonacorsi
14:38Bonacorsi switching to the outside line through that sweeper they've got the
14:42the mound on the inside line which of course is still the faster line you would say but that outside
14:49line not really used very much it's very smooth so potentially as the moto goes on could be a good
14:53opportunity to get a smoother faster line
14:55of course the riders are very fit but if you can avoid the bumps as much as you can
15:01when the track gets choppy like this it just preserves the fitness as well potentially in the closing stages
15:06and Andrea Bonacorsi born in Bergamo in Italy and another rider who in terms of his age could still
15:16be in MX2 a very young rider who was the MX champion in 2023 the hood medal Yamaha
15:30Bonacorsi racing for the factory Fantic machine the Fantic team
15:37after moving from the Yamaha team it's a very similar hardware on that machine you would say as we speak to the KTM
15:42at the moment we've got Lucas Coonan at the head of the field there's nothing more he can do now to try
15:48and get the overall victory it all depends on Roman Febvre near miss there but we just saw he is pushing
15:53isn't he yeah yeah of course he's pushing he wants to win at the moment he can do more um yeah he needs to
15:59keep riding like this which is uh he's riding really good and the track is really really tricky so
16:07what was Lucas's feedback after that first race i mean it was a good solid result but it didn't quite seem his
16:12usual explosive self that we've seen of late yeah i mean um the track was always different uh yesterday was
16:19different today first model was different it was muddy so uh it didn't felt really comfortable with the
16:25with the track uh so now we we changed a few things uh looks like it's working really well also now the
16:32stuff was better so hope we can finish like this nice luck to the team thank you
16:37interesting to see of course how rider bounces back after a succession of victories uh Lucas
16:45Coonan only by his standards fourth in moto number one but he has certainly fought back very strongly
16:50here and this is very similar to how he was in the um previous motos that he won was able to control the
16:57race from the front looking very assured but this could be the pass that gives Roman Febvre the grand prix
17:02victory but Ruben Fernandes will not give that lead up lightly 13 minutes plus the two laps to go
17:08the momentum very much with Febvre at this stage
17:14MXGP moto number two here at Lugo and the fight for the top of the podium still wide open Lucas Coonan
17:23and Roman Febvre currently tied on points as things stand Coonan would take the overall by virtue of the
17:29second moto the better score with the victory in moto number two both on 43 points
17:36but listen in the background the airhorns and the cheers are going for the number 70 of Ruben Fernandes
17:42who's doing a very important job here not only for himself and for the Spanish fans but also for
17:48Honda as they look to try and do battle at the top of the constructors championships from Kawasaki
17:54they see the riders looking for those smoother lines just off the main racing line through the
18:00right hander really whooped out as Fernandes makes his way through the waves just settling into a
18:08rhythm here starting to pull away a little bit now from Febvre who will have to try and regroup in try and
18:13close back up on the Spaniard this is the 19th track to have held a MXGP is the only one in Galicia most of
18:23the tracks generally speaking tend to be more towards the far south of the region possibly we've some of the
18:311990s we saw round tours Madrid Talavera
18:37and Belprig in Catalonia as well very much a mainstay on the 250cc Grand Prix calendars there
18:42was even a Grand Prix in Ibiza in 1988 Michele Fanton taking the 250cc Grand Prix that year
18:51so this is certainly a new venture for Spain in the far north west of the country
18:56we're about an hour from the port of La Coruña
19:03so a new territory and this is certainly a track that's been very popular as well
19:08even the Jerez former Formula One circuit
19:13was the host of the 1997 motocross of nations where Team America headed by Jeremy McGrath
19:20putting one of the most dominant performances in the motocross the nation's history
19:26so very much Lugo one of the more newer venues on the seat on the scene you would say and
19:33uh named in honor of Jorge Prado this was very much his local circuit growing up
19:41there will be a new winner this year and for the Spaniards they'll be very pleased to see one of
19:45the home riders on the podium as things stand at the moment as Paul Zionas still fighting there with
19:50Andrea Bonacorsi they've got Guadnini in front in sixth position Jeffrey Hurling's still in ninth
19:54Maxime Renault has broke into the top 10 but struggling to get any closer at this stage
19:59look at how gnarly those bumps are through into the right hand of those acceleration bumps
20:04line choice getting very important indeed in the final 10 minutes plus two laps
20:09and you can see just how hard Romain Febvre is having to work here
20:13when he goes past the pit lane he will have been informed of the situation he knows is in fourth
20:17place and he will know that he needs that third place to take the grand prix victory
20:21let's pick down the inside of Fernandez oh no but uh Ruben Fernandez is
20:27not going to give the third position up so easily
20:30Febvre again down the inside goes for the block pass this time makes it work
20:35so Romain Febvre into third place and into the lead of the grand prix as things stand at the moment
20:43like Davide Dicali was saying a few moments ago for Lucas Koen and all he can do now is win the race
20:49and what happens behind him really will happen
20:53Koen and with the fastest lap of the race earlier on the pace is starting to drop now
20:56no real um guesses as to why when you look at the track it's just getting to that point now it's
21:02really starting to get quite choppy some of those acceleration bumps getting very slow the braking bumps
21:07are getting sharper difficult to find the pace out there but uh Lucas Koen and still circulating quite
21:12strongly and still pulling away from the rest of the field keeping it nice and smooth
21:20this is a very similar kind of performance that he put in at Switzerland and particularly last weekend in
21:25Portugal in tough conditions controlling the race running his own pace at the front of the field
21:35as he rails the berm you can see look at the back end of the KTMs he goes over the monster energy jump
21:40kicking out to the side that's a real nervy moment for a rider when the bike does that on the approach to a takeoff ramp
21:48to the left hand he goes
21:53so as things stand tied on points Koen and would still take the uh my mistake uh my apologies there
22:02i thought that was going to give Febre the overalls being eating a pass for Landren so let's have a look at the gap
22:07it's about five seconds separating Blondren from Febre looking at the lap charts i can tell you at this
22:12stage so Koen and still on 43 points Febre in second Fernandez still on the podium in third at the moment
22:20comfortably ahead of Calvin Blondren who would take fourth overall from Maxime Renault who is still
22:24struggling to get any higher than 10th place so certainly for uh certainly for the home fans here
22:29this is certainly looking very good for another home star to be on the podium Spain the country
22:37traditionally you would say tends to have more success with two wheels on tarmac than motocross
22:43i remember Francisco Garcia Vico having his moments in 500cc grand prix's in the late 90s but
22:50Paul Jay Prado really the flag bearing rider you would say in recent years and certainly
22:55uh start to make inroads in the USA no real surprise to see him moving to uh to the states for 2025 so
23:05Ruben Fernandez now Spain's leading rider and he's having a good season so far and if things stay as
23:11they are he'll be delighted to be on the podium once again as we look at Paul Jonas oh and a small
23:19mistake there Guadagnini the back end stepping out on a rapidly drying circuit it's very slippery just ahead
23:24of Hurlings there's Renault and i think Hurlings might just nip through on the inside lovely little
23:30block pass there from Jeffrey Hurlings and down the inside of Mattia Guadagnini he goes so Paul Jonas
23:36now moving into a comfortable sixth position now 10 seconds adrift of Jeremy Siwa and there is Calvin
23:43Blondren can he get on the podium he'd be relying on other riders dropping points here but putting in
23:48a very strong second position so far
23:54Blondren with two Grand Prix's to his name he won the
23:58MXGP in Indonesia in MX2 2018 and one of the demanding Sardinia circuit a couple of years ago in 2022
24:0722
24:11nasty spill there for Guadagnini the back end stepping out on the first corner
24:15straight but that was the uh looked like the airbag set up there he's wearing some of the um
24:20airbag body armor which certainly did its job there for him
24:23let's have a look at that again so back end steps out swaps ends and down that that was a nasty tumble there
24:35so the safety equipment certainly doing its job and Guadagnini back out on track
24:40look at the front fender on that Ducati that took a batwing as well so uh Guadagnini just behind
24:46Burgers and Koldenoff both the Fantic riders further down struggling but Bonacorsi running well in
24:51seventh position so far Hurling's done into eighth position
24:56Kernan from Blondren Febvre five and a half minutes plus the two laps remaining and Lucas
25:00Kernan maintaining that gap at the front he hasn't really dropped the pace as much as his rivals he
25:05would say cover Blondren losing ground Roman Febvre still charging in third trying to close up the gap
25:10goes down to two seconds between Blondren and Febvre so Febvre looking to try and snatch the overall here
25:16time potentially against him here but he really is hunting down Blondren in second place
25:211.6 seconds the gap now as they cross the line Ramon Febvre up to 22 Grand Prix wins earlier in the season
25:36for his career and looking to try and get another one to add to the tally here as he makes his way through
25:43he's only won one overall this year the fourth round of the championship
25:51makes his way through the right-hander
25:55that was a little bit earlier on in the season at Sardinia second moto victory to give the overall
26:00and he's hunting down Blondren he notices another Grand Prix potentially to be won here goes past the local
26:06rider because uh Rodriguez Gomez and Febvre just starting to chip the seconds off here and there
26:16Febvre to his 22nd career Grand Prix victory early in the season
26:21brim level with Sten London, Rolf Tiblin and Dave Thorpe three of the greats of world championship
26:27motocross if he wins today that would put him with the MX Panda Clermont de Sal
26:33Sandro Puzar and Harry Everts so he's certainly in some very esteemed company
26:41remember Puzar lighting up the 250 and 125cc Grand Prix's back in the 1990s the all-action Italian
26:48on 23 Grand Prix's and that would be matched by Febvre if he can get through past Flandrin who will not
26:56want to give that position up lightly Flandrin a brilliant start running very strongly in these closing
27:03stages Flandrin having a difficult start to the season of course and fighting back quite well in
27:11this moto this would be by far his best result in 2025 he took a third in the second round of the
27:20championship but he's had the inconsistencies he would say had the good score in the second round
27:26of the championship but uh dropped some positions that was at um the like a custom Andy Grand Prix the
27:33second round of the championship and DNF in the second moto so it just needs that consistency but
27:40but Febvre down the inside steams through and that will as things stand put him in front in terms
27:49of the Grand Prix because if he's second place now of course Lucas Kernan in moto number one with that
27:57fourth position Febvre he's done the hard work now he's about 11 seconds behind Lucas Kernan so
28:06realistically unless anything drastic happens he's not going to get the double moto victory here
28:10but crucially would gain a couple of points on Coon and maintain that gap in front of MXGP
28:18and Febvre down the inside he can see him playing it nice and cool through the deep ruts
28:22what he doesn't want to do now is make a mistake two minutes to go plus two laps remaining gets ahead
28:27quite easily of Vlandrin who just seems to be dropping the pace in the closing stages
28:36Vlandrin who'll turn 29 this month rapidly becoming one of the elder statesmen you'd say in Grand Prix
28:43racing born in uh Port Elizabeth in South Africa but uh riding under a Dutch license and very much
28:47recognized as a Dutch rider on the Monocross of Nations back in 2019 with the Netherlands when he was a HRC
28:55factory rider and the number 96 of Lucas Kernan running well at the front of the field here
29:02as he looks to take this second moto victory as things stand he will narrowly miss out on the podium
29:08but he'll be pleased with how he's fought back in moto number two he's had a dominant run of form in
29:13Switzerland and last weekend in Portugal only fourth didn't quite get the start in moto number one today
29:20but he has recovered very strongly in moto number two and this is another dominant victory or potential
29:28victory I would say for Kernan if he can hang onto the machine for the next two or three laps
29:35youngest ever MXGP Grand Prix winner and Lucas Kernan still potentially could be a title factor in
29:43in MXGP this year but uh Roman Fevre doing enough to stay ahead in terms of the title race still a long
29:48way to go of course but Fevre I think he knows that Lucas Kernan is realistically out of we
29:53reach but he's done enough here now he's ahead of Vlangen he's just doing enough to maintain that pace
29:58and stay ahead of the factory Yamaha rider in third place just pulling away slowly 20 seconds left on the
30:05clock plus the two laps remaining so I think realistically we're looking at three laps to go here
30:09but now in the closing stages it's really turning into a battle of survival in some of those really
30:17gnarly ruts on the racing line you can see Fevre looking to move those move to the smoother lines
30:24again but oh just got a kicker there and that was Pauls Jonas that's gone off the machine
30:28there we see what happened to uh Pauls Jonas just toppling over on the right-hander small mistake you
30:42could potentially say the fatigue's playing a part there in these closing stages but nothing too
30:45serious I think he has stayed in seventh position
30:48so Lucas Kernan leading the way with two laps to go and there was a nervy moment a minute ago when
30:58Romain Fevre caught a kicker going over that right-handed knoll there but seemed to keep the
31:03momentum keep it going Jonas has recovered to ninth position so crucially that means that
31:08Renault's gone to eight that could potentially have ramifications for Fernandes as he looks again on the
31:14podium but at the moment should just about do enough as down the inside motor blues Honda there the
31:21number 24 of Kevin Hawkmo the Norwegian who's fighting back quite well this weekend after a disappointing
31:26weekend at a Portugal last time out Kevin Hawkmo on the ship to cycle Honda let's have a look at Pauls Jonas
31:37battling there with Renault and there's Horgo just behind
31:44Hawkmo who's been talked up in the press and on social media would say is a rider who
31:48could well be deserving of a factory ride they are only fit on the ground of course but Kevin Hawkmo
31:54the young Norwegian who um was steady if not a title factor in MX2 he moved to MXGP last year just
32:02seems to settle in quite nicely getting in the top 10 last year and running well this year so the
32:08ninth position there for Kevin Hawkmo and battling still with Maxime Renault as Lucas Gernan charges on
32:16one lap to go for the young Belgian as he looks to
32:22secure yet another moto victory as things stand he will narrowly miss out look at the
32:27ruts they're sending the riders everywhere as they make their way through getting very tough on this final lap
32:32as Hawkmo puts Renault under pressure well they were talking about Hawkmo
32:38how he's deserving a factory ride here and he is showing why as he goes down the inside of the
32:43factory Yamaha through the ruts he goes and gets past Maxime Renault the former MX2 world champion
32:49quite easily Renault trying to fight back through the waves gets the smoother line and can't quite get to
32:56that inside line to go down the inside of Hawkmo
32:58so although in fairness to Maxime Renault he's had his injury troubles he's not the
33:04fully fit rider you might say still coming back to full form but nonetheless Hawkmo getting past him
33:09quite strongly and chasing off after Bonnet Corsi
33:12so Kevin Orgmo on that privately entered Honda the motor blues SR Motul team
33:22snowing here why people saying he could be a deserving candidate for the factory ride but Lucas Gernan
33:29won the Ricky Carmichael Monocross of Nations youngest rider award in 2023
33:33runner-up in MX2 in 2024 he was the runner-up in MX250 and MX125 took the bronze award so
33:45yet to win a major title but walked away from that to go to MXGP and that decision is certainly being vindicated
33:54at this stage as he takes his what would be his fifth moto victory out of the last six
34:02and showing that he could well be an MXGP title contender Lucas Gernan punches the air as he crosses
34:08the line he knows that it's not going to be enough to get the overall victory because Romain Fevre
34:13has fought his way through and he will take second position around the final few corners he goes
34:18Fevre over the line in second place and that will give him his 23rd career victory
34:28it puts him level with Harry Everts with Sandra Puzar and Clement de Salle and crucially of course it
34:35means that he maintains that gap at the front of the MXGP world championship standings final lap battle
34:42here with the number 41 Pauls Jonas the second of the two factory Kawasaki's making
34:47his way around the final few corners with Ben Watson right behind him there
34:52great battle to the line there and it looks like he's going to hang on over the line they go
34:58so Pauls Jonas 2017 MX2 world champion of course and battling there right to the line with Ben
35:06Watson but in terms of the second moto Lucas Kerman takes the chequered flag from Romain Fevre,
35:10Calvin Vallandren in third Ruben Fernandes in fourth I think that will get him onto the podium
35:15Jeremy Seawer much better right for him this time rounds out the top five on the Ducati
35:19Jeffrey Hurling spikes through to sixth position Andrea Barnacosy in seventh Kevin Horkmo
35:25Maxime Renault and Pauls Jonas running at the top ten narrowly ahead are Ben Watson Glenn
35:31Koldoff Brian Bogers Ron van der Moersdijk tricky day for Iago Geertz only in 15th in that second moto Tom
35:38Goch Brian van Donenck Mattia Guadagnini after that scary tumble earlier in the moto looks like he's
35:43going to get 18th position from the chambers KTM of Adam Steri and the Lexer MX machine of Josh Gilbert
35:51more points for the Cornish rider in 20th position
35:58it's Lucas Kerman who takes the second moto victory and Romain Fevre taking the overall so
36:04it'll be Fevre who takes the overall victory Romain Fevre congratulations your second overall victory
36:11but wow did you have to dig deep in that second race to get that one yeah actually I make a whole
36:16shot which uh it's amazing and now we are starting really good so I'm happy but uh yeah somehow I
36:23think the second lap uh I jump on that tabletop and the downhill it's quite really like sketchy with
36:29a lot of uh bombs and uh mud and then I just wanted to take one other line and then I missed it and then
36:36up up and I crashed so I was like oh no not the first few laps because many guys passed me uh but yeah uh
36:44find some good line and then came back second so I'm I'm really happy second victory this season
36:49so uh really pleased with this great job thanks very much
36:56so we have to work hard for it Romain Fevre after a small mistake early in the moto but fighting back
37:02very well indeed to stand to second place and crucially the overall victory and with it of course
37:09maintaining that gap at the front of the MXGP title race with Tim Geiser of course absent due to injury
37:18not sure when we'll see him back he's had shoulder surgery leading into this weekend here
37:21so he will be absent so really is Romain Fevre's moment here to stake his claim at the front
37:26he needs to deal with Lucas Kernan though who has looked very impressive in recent weeks and Romain
37:32Fevre can ill afford to drop any points that's how they stand up in race number two Lucas Kernan the moto
37:38winner from Romain Fevre brilliant second place for him fighting through to get past Calvin Blandren
37:43in the closing stages Ruben Fernandes fourth that will get him onto the podium from Jeremy Siwa
37:49Jeffrey Hurlings Bonacorsi and another brilliant ride from the Norwegian Kevin Horgmo to take eighth
37:55position Maxime Renau in ninth Pauls Jonas in tenth narrowly ahead of Nathan Watson on the factory
38:00beater both having a great battle to the line at the end and Watson ahead of Koldenhof Burgers and
38:06Roan van der Meusdijk Iago Geertz only finishing in 15th tricky day for him from Tom Koch the privately
38:11entered German rider Brent van Donek Matija Guadnini and the two Brits Adam Sturie and Josh Gilbert taking the
38:18final two championship positions in moto number two
38:23and so for the home fans they are of course missing Jorge Prado this year but nonetheless
38:31Ruben Fernandes has done the job for them this weekend and gets onto the podium third overall so
38:36Romain Fevre taking the overall victory from Lucas Kernan by four points
38:42Fernandes third narrowly ahead of Maxime Renau and Calvin Vellandren with that brilliant second moto
38:48rounding out the top five Nathan Watson Ben Watson I should say gets into the into the top ten
38:54good solid result for him just ahead of Jeremy Siwa
39:00and in terms of the MXGP title race the crucial thing here of course is that Lucas Kernan has moved
39:07into second position from the absent Tim Geiser and keeping just enough pressure
39:13just under 50 points behind Romain Fevre at this stage so still very much the advantage with Fevre
39:18Lucas Kernan still very much in the title race Geiser still third despite being absent Koldenhof
39:23and Fernandes running up the top five so Jeffrey Hurling's continuing his move up the field he gets
39:29past Iago Geertz who had a tricky day despite winning the qualifying race yesterday
39:33and another absentee of course Isaac Gifting losing ground in the championship race further down
39:39heading towards the top 20 in the manufacturer's standings Ruben Fernandes doing his job and keeping
39:46Honda on the top of the manufacturer's classification from Kawasaki KTM third Yamaha Fantic Ducati Beta
39:54and Husqvarna solves your presence with Kevin Brooman who's not racing this weekend he is absent and they
40:00are currently bringing out the field but Honda still on top in the manufacturer's classification so the
40:08supporters making their way up to the start line for the podium presentations another brilliant hole
40:12shot from Romain Fevre Ramon Alvarez one of the Fox dealership networks here in Spain presenting Fevre with
40:21the Fox hole shot award another lightning start Fevre and he closes in on Koenan in the hole shot
40:28classifications tied with Siwa on three hole shots each Koenan on four in the Fox hole shot classifications
40:35so the traditional end of day track invasion as the supporters make their way to the podium area
40:48no Slovenian flags of course this weekend with uh Tim Geiser absent but the Spanish flag up there with the
40:54the number 70 in honor of Ruben Fernandes
41:02and as you can hear they're making some noise for him he was so happy to be on the podium last weekend
41:07in Portugal I'm sure he'll be even happier today to be on the podium in front of his countrymen
41:14and a classy moment there from Lucas Koenan walking up to the podium with the number 243 in honor of the absent Tim Geiser
41:28Koenan he said in the recent interview of course he was uh disappointed that Geiser wasn't racing
41:32he'd like to race him on the track rather than pass him by default so certainly honoring his much more
41:37experienced rider but it's career win number 23 for Romain Fevre who maintains the grip on the
41:45MXGP title race as well and of course Kawasaki the winning manufacturer for the weekend as well but
41:51Ruben Fernandes great job for him though to keep Honda on the top step of the manufacturer classifications
41:57Galicia parliament vice president there presenting the home hero with third overall and listen to the
42:08crowd and look at the Honda team they have really been through the works in the last couple of weeks
42:13with Tim Geiser absent and realistically the world championship going begging but Ruben Fernandes doing
42:19a great job to stand in and keep the Honda flag flying second overall then for Lucas Koenan his unbeaten streak
42:29comes to an end but nonetheless very strong on the podium and still keeping himself in the MXGP title race as well
42:39but the mayor of Lugo Miguel Fernandes presenting Romain Fevre with the first place trophy
42:49Lugo sporting heritage very much with basketball but certainly motocross is making a name for itself
42:57nowadays with Jorge Prado originating from the area and of course this very well received Grand Prix track
43:03as well now the home of the Spanish Grand Prix Kawasaki taking the manufacturer's award for this weekend
43:11the factory Kawasaki team and for Romain Fevre 23rd career victory and crucially for him at this stage
43:20in the championship he will hold on to that red plate that he took last weekend in Portugal
43:24going to moving into second in the title race but Fevre maintaining that cushion at the top of the
43:30championship as he moves on of course to his home Grand Prix a little later in the month at Ernais
43:39famous Brittany circuit and the steep hills former motocross of nations venue of course one of the iconic
43:45venues and Fevre taking the top step of the podium
43:58Josie Daniel Monace
44:03he plays out in the injuries from a high of 31st to his democross of nationsailing
