03:02Entire neighborhoods in rural Laurel County wiped away.
03:05Homes left exposed.
03:07Wood planks scattered on streets.
03:09Residents helping first responders go door to door to search for victims.
03:14Kendra Foster, now injured with a broken foot, huddled in her basement with young children,
03:18telling me she thought she was about to die as a storm ripped apart her home.
03:22It was like a bomb went off the windows.
03:26Everything was shattered.
03:27Down the street, 78-year-old Lonnie Nance and his wife jumped out of bed
03:31and took shelter with his family in their hallway.
03:33So you were huddling in this hallway and the roof was coming off.
03:37It was all disappearing.
03:38The roof was a rumbling noise.
03:40I heard it and I looked up and it was going up and leaving here, you know.

04:15Yes, I've already done cried.
04:17Already, cleanup is beginning in Clear Creek.

04:31Hundreds of thousands still without power across several states.
04:34The powerful storms also triggering a rare dust storm.
04:38Something not seen here since the 1930s dust bowl.
04:41Strong winds making visibility near zero, blocking out the sun.
04:46With these tornadoes came through in the middle of the night, ripping these homes off of their foundations.
04:51We just learned this home came from across the street, about 100 yards.
04:55People survived in their bathtubs and basements.
04:58Witt?
04:58Just an awful sight behind you.
05:00Alex Stone, thank you.
05:01Let's get right to meteorologist Danny Beckstrom from our New York station, WABC.
05:05And Danny, this weather threat could last for days.
05:09Several more days, several more rounds of the severe weather threat.
05:12It continues into the start of the work week, Witt.
05:14Now, the system that produced the severe outbreak we just saw still bringing strong storms tonight from upstate New York into northern New England as a new threat unfolds in the central U.S.
05:23We have severe thunderstorm watches tonight for parts of New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire through sunset with damaging wind and large hail possible.
05:29But this new system triggers several days of severe weather from the Great Plains to the Heartland starting tonight with numerous severe storms possible in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
05:38Sunday storm, target Texas to Nebraska with damaging wind, large hail, and strong tornadoes possible.
05:43On Monday, this risk shifts slightly to the east, putting cities like St. Louis back in the bullseye.
05:47Witt?
05:48All right, we'll be tracking it into next week.
05:49Danny, thank you.
05:51Now to the breaking news in Palm Springs, California.
05:53At least one person is dead and five others injured after a massive explosion near a fertility clinic.

06:06Here's ABC's Christiane Cordero with late details just coming in.
06:09Tonight, federal investigators are on the scene of a massive blast outside of a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, a vehicle exploding in a parking lot near the clinic.
06:21It looks like this is going to be multiple buildings with damage, blast, reactive fire from one vehicle in a parking lot.

06:39Five others hurt.
06:41Firefighters racing to put out the fire and search for victims.

06:48Police quickly cordoning off the area.

06:56Look at this liquor store.

07:02Debris scattered across the typically busy Indian Canyon Drive.
07:07The FBI and ATF now helping in the search for other explosive devices.
07:11Witnesses say the blast could be heard throughout the city.
07:15We heard this loud noise.
07:16It shook all of our building.
07:18Our patients were scared.
07:20We actually thought something had hit our building.
07:23With the FBI is investigating whether this is intentional.
07:26The fertility clinic tonight offering condolences to the families affected, adding, quote,
07:31our lab, including all eggs, embryos, and reproductive materials, remains fully secure and undamaged.
07:38Whit.
07:39Christiane Cordero, thank you.

07:50Some recaptured, but seven inmates still on the loose tonight.
07:53Three jail employees have now been suspended and authorities raising the possibility of an inside job.
07:59Here's ABC's Faith Abube.
08:02Tonight, seven fugitives considered armed and dangerous are on the run after a daring jailbreak in New Orleans.
08:10Dramatic surveillance video showing the moment of their escape from the Orleans Parish jail early Friday morning.
08:16Stunning images showing a hole carved in a wall behind a toilet.
08:19A taunting message left behind.
08:22Too easy, LOL.
08:24All of these have been removed and these have been clean cut.
08:27An urgent multi-agency manhunt joined by hundreds of local, state, and federal law enforcement officials.
08:33Now in its second day, three of the escaped inmates have since been recaptured.
08:38But among those still at large, a man convicted of second-degree murder.
08:43Authorities are appealing to the public for help in apprehending the others.
08:46Please, we need the public's help. It's your city. It's your state. We want it safe for your family, your friends.
08:53The fugitives are benefiting from a significant head start.
08:56According to authorities, the technician, meant to be watching the area, had taken a break to get food at the time of the escape.
09:03It wasn't until the following morning's head count, more than seven hours later, that prison officials realized the inmates were missing.
09:11New Orleans Sheriff Susan Hudson said crumbling infrastructure and staff shortages contributed to the security breach and even suggested that it could have been an inside job.
09:21We know that they had help. We're showing you they had help. This was coordinated.
09:26The district attorney, meanwhile, blasting those responsible for what he called a disaster of epic proportions.
09:31It's an absolutely unmitigated catastrophe. It's absolutely a breakdown.
09:37And with three jail employees have now been suspended pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
09:44Witt.
09:44Faith Abube, thank you.
09:46Overseas now to Israel, launching a deadly new offensive in Gaza.

10:13Israel unleashing its deadliest strikes on Gaza, killing at least 300 Palestinians since Thursday.
10:19Hounding areas across the entire strip.
10:24Civilians bearing the brunt of the bombings.
10:27Many of the injured quickly rush to the hospital any way they can.

10:56Hour by hour, it's getting worse.
10:58The people are being killed and the homes are being bombed.
11:03And literally, there is no safe place.
11:06With more reinforcements on the way, the IDF says it's designed to seize strategic areas of Gaza,
11:12attack Hamas and force them to release the remaining 57 Israeli hostages.
11:18With Israel and Hamas are now holding a new round of talks in Qatar to try to end the fighting.
11:24All the while, this punishing siege on Gaza continues.
11:27No food, no water, no humanitarian aid is entering the strip.
11:32Whit.
11:32Lama Hassan, our thanks to you tonight.
11:34Now to the installation mass for the first American pontiff just hours away.
11:39Pope Leo XIV offering the Vatican as a location for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
11:45This, as President Trump says he plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday.
11:50ABC's Maggie Rooley joins us from the Vatican.
11:52And Maggie, what more are you learning about this tonight?
11:55Hey, Whit.
11:55Yeah, just today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the Vatican could be a venue to host Russia-Ukraine peace talks,
12:01acknowledging that it's a, quote, place both sides would be comfortable going.
12:06Now, there's a longstanding offer from the Holy See to host these talks.
12:09And the Vatican has a tradition of being neutral when it comes to diplomacy.
12:13Most recently, we saw at Pope Francis' funeral that now iconic photo of President Trump meeting with President Zelensky of Ukraine.
12:21And, Whit, it seems that Pope Leo XIV is taking an even more proactive role in global affairs.
12:27And, Whit, tomorrow all eyes are going to be right here on the Vatican.
12:30We're expecting around 150 delegations from around the world to be right here in St. Peter's Square for the installation mass of Pope Leo.
12:37That's the official start to his papacy.
12:39And among them will be President Zelensky, as well as Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary Rubio.
12:45Now, remember, Vance was here just about a month ago to meet with Pope Francis, one of the last people to see Pope Francis alive.
12:51But, Whit, at this point, it's unclear if Pope Leo will be meeting with Vance or Rubio tomorrow.
12:55Whit?
12:56We'll be watching.
12:56Maggie, thank you.
12:57And ABC News Live will carry special coverage of Pope Leo XIV's installation at the Vatican.
13:02That's tomorrow morning at 4 a.m. Eastern.
13:05You can stream it on Hulu, Disney+, and other streaming apps.
13:09Next tonight, the showdown between President Trump and the Supreme Court.
13:13The nation's highest court temporarily blocking the president from using the centuries-old Alien Enemies Act for deportations.
13:20ABC's senior White House correspondent Selina Wang in Washington tonight.
13:24Tonight, the escalating battle between the president and the high court.
13:28The Supreme Court extending its order temporarily blocking the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelan migrants using the Alien Enemies Act, a centuries-old wartime law that provides its targets with little or no due process.
13:43The 7-2 majority saying the government did not provide the migrants enough time or information to contest their removal.
13:51The justice is writing, notice roughly 24 hours before removal, devoid of information about how to exercise due process right to contest that removal, surely does not pass muster.
14:03The Supreme Court has said that the government cannot shuffle people out of the country behind closed doors without any real notice.
14:11The Supreme Court sending the case back to an appeals court to decide whether the president's use of the sweeping wartime authority is legal.
14:19Trump lashing out on social media saying, the result of this decision will let more criminals pour into our country.
14:27The Supreme Court is not allowing me to do what I was elected to do.
14:31Trump first invoked the law in March, justified by a so-called invasion by the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, a designated foreign terrorist organization,
14:41sending more than 200 Venezuelan migrants accused of being gang members to a notorious prison in El Salvador.
14:48And the president is facing another major setback with hardline Republicans in Congress blocking the president's budget bill from advancing, pushing for even steeper spending cuts.
14:59They're now negotiating through this weekend to try and get this bill back on track.
15:02President Trump is urging his party to unite, telling them to stop talking and get it done.
15:08Whit.
15:08Selena Wang at the White House tonight. Thank you.
15:11Now to the arrests of five alleged fake delivery drivers.
15:14The dramatic arrests in broad daylight captured on camera and the possible ties to an international burglary crew.
15:21Here's ABC's Aashin Singh.
15:25This is the moment California police arrested five suspects they say are part of a transnational organized burglary ring linked to a string of home invasions across Southern California.
15:35Connected to a transnational organized burglary group that has been targeting communities across our region.
15:42Police saying this ring security camera shows the group in action.
15:46Video shows people dressed as delivery and Amazon drivers.
15:49One of them carrying a package entering a home through the front door midday on Easter Sunday.
15:53Everything was on the floor.
15:55Literally everything.
15:56Jewelry, gun, handbags, cash, collectibles.
16:03Police say the suspects, who they say fled before they arrived, may have been targeting that Irvine family.
16:09Tonight, officers saying they caught up with the group after stopping a suspicious vehicle near the scene of a burglary.
16:13Adding the driver claimed to be delivering food, but couldn't say where.
16:17Detectives soon identified him as 24-year-old John Osorio Arias.
16:21That traffic stopped leading to a months-long investigation and the arrest of four others nearby.
16:26And Whit, those home burglaries have actually been down in recent years,
16:32but authorities are warning residents to stay vigilant,
16:34especially when it comes to answering the door for those unexpected packages.
16:37Whit?
16:38Important information.
16:39Ashin Singh, thank you.

16:49climbing light poles after a win 25 years in the making.
16:53Could we see another big celebration tomorrow?
16:57Next night, the FDA has cleared the first blood test that could help diagnose Alzheimer's disease
17:02for those 55 and older with symptoms.
17:05The test measures two proteins that are linked to amyloid plaques in the brain,
17:09which are among the hallmarks of Alzheimer's.
17:12The CDC estimates 6.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's,
17:17a brain disorder that affects thinking skills.

18:23In addition to presenting Cecilia with her diploma,
18:25we also wish to recognize the service companion who has accompanied her
18:30throughout her Rollins career, Canela.
18:32I'm very pleased to present this service badge to Canela in recognition of her contributions
18:39to Cecilia's success at Rollins.
18:42A milestone Cecilia did not think would happen four years ago
18:46due to mounting health issues related to her heart and immune system.
18:50I overcame so much already.
18:52Just to get through high school, how am I going to make it through college?
18:55But with help from her four-legged friend, her dream became a reality.
18:59Canela went through six months of special safety training to be with Cecilia in the chemistry lab,
19:05even outfitted with safety goggles, booties, and a protective vest.
19:09Once I had her by my side, I was able to actually envision myself getting to graduation.
19:14Cecilia now pursuing a Ph.D. in organic chemistry with Canela right there by her side.
19:20Quite the duo. Thanks so much for watching tonight. Have a great night.
