The tapes that have been used are the original, 1st generation copies acquired 40 years ago and were 1/4-track stereo at 7.5 ips. Robbie, Ray and John are on the left channel and Jim and Ray's vocal are on the right. Sometimes the sound is quiete good, although Robbie's pickup is modest at best and the overall balance between Ray and Robbie isn't up to their standard. The sound isn't as hi-fi as we'd like, but who can really complain when we have such a historic moment and wonderful music to enjoy? To restore the shows, has been used a Sony 4-channel professional 1/4-inch tape recorder played back through DB Techbology AD122 A/D converters and recorded at 96 kHz 24 bits. The mixing, editing, EQ and NONOISE™ were performed on Pro Tools®HD. The mixes were then sample rate converted to 44.1 kHz for final sequencing and editing on Sonic Studio's SoundBlade™.
