HOME STAR RUNNER - YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT
PRESENTED by PAULINE FREEMAN
It's kind of pleasantly funny to see a band you laid eyes on nearly 2 years ago, who were half ignored then, to being the keenly-awaited main act now. It was the first time in the whole afternoon you feared for the front line's rib cages.
Home Star Runner was out on top and ready to command their growing army below them. They were a surprise, as they weren't expected for the event (The Marshals and Chewing On Tinfoil were nowhere in sight), fortunately they received an immensely knowledgeable welcome.
After a few cheeky punters requested their favourites, the singer, backed up by the audience, who were backed up by the band, launched into "Game Over". As half a dozen hot tunes were dished out to open minds, the band members ducked and dived crowd surfers as they rod the wave of hands.
The crowd were completely under their control even sitting down on the wooden floor when told to, (made me feel extra tall as I was still standing) then jumping up only a minute later without hesitation. Finishing up with a song the whole crowd knew off by heart, even the bands that resurfaced from earlier were fans, the gig was complete, with an air of satisfaction around the crowd - Susan Kelly -www.drop-d.ie
