PRESENTED BY LAYLA ANNA-LEE
The daughter of a famous bird watcher and a writer, Rosie Oddie was taught how to play the drums by her mother during primary school. She ended up in orchestras and jazz bands at school, writing songs from the age of 13, and won first prize in the Angelic Records 'In Her Own Words' songwriting competition in 2006.
She is said to be the next Lily Allen, but claims that she has pushed herself to be more experimental, more grown-up than that. Having recorded some demos with Polydor, she concluded that it was all too cleaned up and big, and she promised never to compromise in terms of style and weirdness again.
Together with Jonny Greenfield, James McEwan, Simon Bloor, Stuart Payne and Robert Greenfield, she makes up Rosie Oddie and The Oddsquad. Keep an eye out for their forthcoming album, due for release in the new year.
