PAM DROVER - OUT OF SIGHT

PRESENTED BY CHERYL

I grew up in a small community in Newfoundland called Baie Verte. I have been playing music and singing for as long as I can remember. At the age of 12 I dug my dad's old theory books out from the back of a closet and claimed his old Fender as my own. I began writing songs as soon as I had mastered C, F & G. Music fell to the wayside a bit for me for a while in my late teens and early 20's when I moved across the country to Alberta...I wish back then I had realized what a wonderful and vibrant music community Edmonton has and dived in but I didn't. I felt quite cultural shocked and out of my element leaving Newfoundland for the first time and was still fairly shy about any originals I had written. I also lacked the confidence needed to do live performances even though every single part of me wanted to. A few years back I started doing some open stages here and there and it was like a drug...if gave me a complete & happy feeling that I had never felt before...to share what I had written with others...I knew then it was what I was meant to do. Then something exploded in me as I sat in the audience at the Edmonton Folk music festival three years back. I was listening to the beautiful Brandi Carlile sing and when she was finished she said to the audience that to anyone out there who has a passion for music to never give up on their dreams to share their music with others...that just a couple years earlier she was the one sitting in the audience. Her words touched my heart. So...here I am...determined and not giving up on my dream to be on that stage someday :) I sincerely hope you enjoy what you hear...I can't wait to get more of what's currently in my head and on paper recorded so I can keep sharing and if you share that same passion...then go do the same!
