Scott Moses Murray is a Nashville singer/songwriter who delivers an honest, witty narrative of the human condition. Lyrically strong and diverse, he explores topics ranging from love and war to politics and social responsibility, often with a sharp, surprising sense of humour. Murray has lived on five continents, and his lyrics draw on his direct experiences of other cultures.
A quintessentially Americana artist, Murray paints from a pallet rich with the colors of blues, folk, rock, and country gospel. His influences include Dylan, Bruce Cockburn, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon, Blitzen Trapper, the Beatles, Leonard Cohen and Jeff Buckley. Murray's music has won critical comparisons to Radiohead, the Flaming Lips and U2. His most recent CD, Stutter, charted at independent radio stations across the United States. He is currently working on his next recording with Nashville producer John Mark Painter (Switchfoot, Ben Folds).
During the last two years Murray has toured in Scandinavia and Asia and quickly became a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene upon arriving in 2011. Recently, however, his attention has turned toward India, where his brother David runs the Dehradun Guitar Company. Along the way he met some of the finest sidemen in India and is now performing with them in Delhi.
