BLUESUN - IT'S RAINING
PRESENTED BY SAABEAH
Though re-launched in 2010, Bluesun's inception started during the summer of 2000. With various lineup changes it was only in 2010 when the definitive lineup was realised. With the late Joe Strummer's encouragement, main songwriter and singer/rhythm guitarist BREW returned to Ireland from London and set out forming the band.
Bluesun represented Ireland at Manchester's In The City music industry festival following their appearance on the BEST OF IMRO TOUR, with BREW subsequently being asked to represent Ireland further at Nashville's Tin Pan South Songwriters' Festival for three consecutive years. The band toured USA three times over the years and continue to be well-received to this day and eagerly awaited to return.
Fate gave the band a support slot to US 80's rockers CHEAP TRICK at Dublin's Vicar Street and the band was shortlisted to play support to The Pretenders US Winter Tour 2003. Bluesun's name incidentally is also the title of a Pretenders song of the same name!
Radio airplay in the UK and Ireland soon followed. Established hits like "Someway", "Whatever Happened to Love", "Sundown" and "Convinced" soon became catchy favourites for listeners. Two EP's and a Live Album recorded from Dublin's Temple Bar Music Centre, now The Button Factory, all sold out quickly in retail outlets in Ireland and abroad.
2011 sees the band fresh from performing a showcase in New York City. Bluesun's music is firmly established in over 50 college radio stations across America with these various stations all linked to the CMJ Marathon Charts. The new single "DUMPED" presents a new Bluesun with an edgier rock sound whilst still retaining their indie origins.
