23 Shades is the newest project from acclaimed singer-songwriter Aaron Cuadra. The band's honest and personal brand of rock 'n' roll boasts spacey ambience, meaningful lyrics and memorable hooks imbued with a radio-ready edge. Cuadra's refreshing originality is a rare find in an industry full of copycats and knockoffs of the "next big thing." 23 Shades defies the temptation to follow suit or worry about what's hip and new, while remaining catchy and accessible.
A New Day To Learn, the debut album from Cuadra's 23 Shades, slyly creates an air of welcome reminiscence that harkens back to early 90s popular alternative hooks, at the same time mixing in an edgy, modern approach to darker post-grunge angst. Fresh yet familiar, unique yet universal, A New Day To Learn is a collection of Cuadra's brightest creations to date.
The album was appropriately produced by Matt Noveskey, bassist of the multi-platinum band Blue October. "[Cuadra] is not only a talented singer and intelligent lyricist, he is a brilliant person in general," states Noveskey. " It was an absolute pleasure to dig down and find real-life inspirations to create this piece we're extremely proud of. Working with him is a true pleasure."
"I poured myself into this album," Cuadra reveals. "It's what I've been working toward and it's where I want to be as a musician." The record echoes that sentiment, and the quality of the final product reflects Cuadra's extensive experience in the music industry and his dedication to the life of a genuine artist.
Cuadra's credentials are impressive, including honors such as Los Angeles Music Awards "Best Male Vocalist" award, second place at the Hard Rock Café Battle of the Bands, and semi-finalist placement in the International Songwriting Competition. Cuadra also boasts placement of his music on the popular TV series "Party of Five," and has previously shared the stage with industry greats such as Train, Five For Fighting, Jason Mraz.
In addition to these official credentials, Cuadra has built his street cred by touring the Western United States multiple times, pulling in large crowds at House of Blues Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as well as other reputable rooms like historic Antone's in Austin. With experience like this, Cuadra is a formidable businessman as well. "I learned how to seek out exactly what I want to do and not take no for an answer."
