A woman in Minnesota who was finally ready to let a sentimental piece of her son go got an unexpected and heartwarming surprise.

During the final days of Valarie Watts' pregnancy with her son named Noah, he wasn’t moving around inside the womb. Sadly, his umbilical had somehow gotten pinched.

Last summer, Noah was stillborn. His crib sat in Watts' home, as an empty reminder of her loss. Not ready to let go of it, she held onto his crib until recently.

At the Watts family garage sale, the crib was there and so was a man named Gerald Kumpula, who makes benches. Kumpula spoke to Watts and inquired about the crib.

She waffled back and forth on whether or not she wanted to sell it before finally deciding to let go. After the deal was done, she heartbreakingly told Kumpula’s wife how she lost Noah.

When Mr. Kumpula learned what happened on the ride home, he decided to repurpose the crib as a surprise. A week after buying it, Kumpula returned with the crib, only it had been converted into a bench.

Watts is grateful to the kind man, who turned a painful reminder into a treasured gift.
