Women, Shariah and Afghanistan

When Western forces entered Afghanistan in 2001, they used claims of women's oppression under Shariah laws to part justify their invasion. Promises were made that Democracy and Western liberal freedoms would liberate the women of Afghanistan from subjugation. This video examines the lives of women in Afghanistan today and whether those promises materialized. It also addresses what the correct implementation of the Shariah in the country under a Khilafah state would mean to its women.

The video is part of a global campaign organised by the Women's Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir entitled, "Women and Shariah: Separating Fact from Fiction". The campaign will culminate in a momentous international women's conference on the subject on 28th March 2015.
