UK party leaders questioned by television audience ahead of May 7 election

With a week to go until the British general election the main party leaders were each questioned by an audience live on television on Thursday night.

Of the viewers questioned after the program 44 percent judged Prime Minister David Cameron to have given the best performance, while 38 percent said they thought Labour leader Ed Miliband came out on top.

Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg, signalled that he would try to form a coalition with the party that wins the most seats next on May 7.

The other party leaders who took part in the programme were Nigel Farage of the UK Independence Party, Nicola Sturgeon of the Scottish Nationalist Party and Leanne Wood, from Plaid Cymru (Welsh nationalists).
