How long do you need for photos with the couple / bridal party?
As far as how much time is needed with the bridal party, there are a few variables that need to be considered. The main one is how many locations we have. If you want to do some photos say down at the beach and then move and do some photos in Gastown, that travel time needs to be factored in and the bigger the bridal party, the more travel time needs to be allowed just because it takes time to get everyone together and move from point A to point B.
With one or two locations in mind that are relatively close together, I think about a hour to an hour and a half is usually good for almost every wedding that I shoot. If you want more locations than that, or if there’s more travel time obviously we should add a bit of time to that.
If it’s just the couple, there’s no bridal party and we’re at one location and quite close to the ceremony or reception site, then 45 minutes to an hour is enough time for that. But I think for most weddings about an hour to an hour and a half is the perfect amount of time to do the portraits.
