Every half-hour a woman dies during childbirth in Afghanistan. The labour pains have begun. In a few hours, these women will give birth. But here, there are no pain killers… And no intimacy. Just One room for Five pregnant women. In Rabia Balkhi, one of the three women’s hospitals in Kabul, the needs are stark. The hospital is overcrowded. It lacks staff, equipment. For the whole of Kabul city, there are only 180 maternity beds. And more than 4 million people live in the afghan capital. But the situation here is still much better than in the remote, rural areas.
