STROUDSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA — A heavily-armed man was shot dead by police this weekend after he entered a busy Walmart superstore and threatened shoppers.
At 10 p.m. on Saturday night, Andrew Todd entered the store in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania armed with two handguns and a machete, the Pocono Record reported.
Responding officers confronted Todd and told him to drop the guns. However, Todd refused to follow instructions, forcing the police to open fire, according to the Pocono Record reported. Stroud Area Regional Police said bullet struck Todd in his upper chest, and he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Officials said that up to 100 people were inside the store at the time, but no one other than the gunman was hurt during the incident.
