TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — With Israel shaken by a wave of stabbings and shootings, many inthe country are seeking countermeasures to protect themselves from the violence.
CNN reports that in response to this an Israeli company called FMS Enterprises, which usually makes bulletproof material, recently tried something new by creating a lightweight and supposedly stab-proof vest.
With the item being received by the country's military, Israeli-based Channel 1 decided to test just how stab proof the vest was on live television.
The reporter for the segment gamely donned the garment for the demo, and ended up getting stabbed in the back — quite literally —by no less than the company's vice president, Yaniv Montakyo, according to the Independent.
The reporter, Eitam Lachover, wasn't seriously injured, having suffered only superficial stab wounds and some stitches. The real loser, it seems, is the company, which according to a report in TheMarker cited by Haaretz saw its shares plummet following the incident.
Their explanation? The reporter moved during the demo, causing the stabber to miss the vest. Because everyone just stays still when they're being stabbed, don't they?
