Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness in the world, yet means of tackling them are often invasive and yield mixed results. 
A team of scientists in China has developed a less intrusive procedure that allows the eye to repair itself. 
Thus far, it has proven highly effective. 
Generally, cataract surgeries involve the full removal of the clouded lens followed by the insertion of an artificial replacement.
