Ingredients:-
250 gms. Chikus (Sapodilla Fruit), skinned
1 cup water
4 cups Sugar
10 gms. Black Raisins
50 gms. Dried Dates
15-20 Cloves
15-20 Green Cardamoms
1 Ginger, chopped
½ tsp. Asafoetida
2 tsp. Red Chilli Powder
3 tsp. Pickle Spice Mix
Salt, to taste
¼ cup Lemon Juice
Method:-
- Slice the chikus and dry them in the sun for 3 days.
- In a saucepan add water and sugar. Stir until the sugar melts. Turn the flame off once the sugar melts.
- Add the sliced chikus in the sugar syrup followed by raisins, dried dates, cloves, green cardamoms, ginger, asafoetida, red chilli powder, pickle spice mix, salt and lemon juice.
- Cover and rest overnight.
Chiku Pickle is ready to eat!
