Ingredients:
For Jeera Rice:
1 tbsp Ghee
2 Bay Leaves
1 inch Cinnamon
3 Cardamoms
4 Cloves
1 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
2 cups Rice, soaked
4 cups Water
Salt to taste
For Dal:
1 cup Masoor Dal, soaked
1 Tomato, chopped
1 Onion, chopped
1 cup Water
1/2 tsp Turmeric
For Tempering:
2 tbsp Ghee
6-7 Pepper Corns
4 Cloves
1 tsp Cumin seeds
8-10 Curry Leaves
1 inch Ginger, finely chopped
3 Green Chillies, finely chopped
5 Cloves of Garlic, finely chopped
1 tsp Red Chilli powder
Method of preparation:
For Jeera Rice:
Heat a vessel, add ghee, bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamoms, cloves.
Once the spices start leaving their aroma add cumin seeds, rice, mix well and saute it for a minute.
Add water, salt, give it a boil and then lower the flame, cover it and cook it for 5-6 minutes.
Our Jeera Rice is ready.
For Dal:
In a pressure cooker, add masoor dal, tomato, onion, water, turmeric, mi well and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
For Tempering:
Heat a vessel, add ghee, pepper corns, cloves, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger, green chillies, garlic and saute them for a minute.
Add red chilli powder, mix it, lower the flame and add dal.
Add salt, mix well, cover the lid and cook it for 2-3 minutes.
Garnish it with coriander, give it a mix and our dal is ready.
