Four Administration Police officers attached to high profile government officials were due to be arraigned in a Kibera Court Tuesday morning for illegal possession of five kilos of ivory.

This follows their arrest at Nairobi West on Monday evening as they attempted to sell the ivory.

Constable Peter Kuria Kimungi is attached to a former Cabinet minister’s security detail while Constable Martin M. Marangu is attached to a Principal Secretary.

“Corporal Francis K. Karanja is attached to a Cabinet Secretary as a driver and Corporal Stephen Chege Ngawai is attached to a Principal Secretary Administration.”

The four belong to the ‘Security of Government Buildings’ Unit based at Uhuru Camp, Nairobi.

Kenya Wildlife Service says it “continues to work with the National Police Service and other security agencies in dealing firmly and without prejudice with cases of any government officials involved in illegal activities.”
